    I'm 76, and yes, OCD has stolen my life. Every day now is a severe struggle. My OCD manifests in a seemingly endless set of routines and fears. The number 13 has become a monster that I must constantly avoid, especially with my repetitious movements. I fear I've waited too long to seek help. Drugs are out of the question. I also have moderate Tourette Syndrome which only adds to my misery. The OCD is far worse than the TS. The TS and OCD feed on each other, the end result of which is a life that is increasingly becoming hell for me. I'm getting my health-care from the VA and will see a therapist tomorrow about my OCD-induced anxiety. I hope the VA has a structured treatment for OCD which doesn't include medications.

      @tom cruise bolado -- Thank you for your encouragement. Some days my OCD is not so bad. Today was a good day for me. I consciously accepted my tapping and other rituals with the attitude, "It doesn't matter. No harm in tapping an odd number of times on the coffee table as I walk by it or kicking my right leg really high up as I walk." Then there are days when the rituals and compulsions drive me nuts. I know God has a reason for me being here. I never question His mysterious working. Again, thanks.

      Does your OCD ever manifest as hyper-fixating on an image in your brain? I'm having obsessive dark thoughts during this episode of depression/anxiety attacks I'm going through. Wondering if you ever hyper-fixate on something too

      @tom cruise bolado Sorry you know the feeling. My anxiety keeps everything going in a loop and I'm exhausted. I just want to be sedated at this point

      @tom cruise bolado I think GAD, but I went through years fine. I also struggled with panic disorder. I don't know why it's suddenly back. Maybe the pandemic, suppressed stress, or long covid. I felt "off" before this episode popped up and I'm miserable.

    I am sure in fact all ocd sufferers including me turn of and on the light and do other repetitive actions not to make sure if its turned of or no, but to turn it on without horrifying thoughts.

      That's it! Horrifying thoughts. It just doesn't make any damn sense to have those compulsions when others are free of them.

    Thanks so much mark ❤ I hav been suffering from ocd for two decades and I was meeting up psychiatrist, counselors and taking medication all along but no use at all. I was about to end my life coz it’s so hard. But now after viewing your video, I totally agree with what you said ocd is a feeling issue and has to be cleared off by subconscious treatment. I’ll book a hypnosis therapist asap and hopefully I get a good one who can heal my severe ocd. Mark, pls continue to produce more videos for us coz you are the greatest guy I hav ever seen who are so intelligent motivating and smart 😊

      I'm from Melbourne Australia, I've been dealing with Severe OCD for quite a while, Reassurance, Contamination Compulsions Trust Issues Doubts which took away my fulltime job and my whole life essentially. I've booked myself in for an Appointment for Hypnotherapy so i cant wait, Fingers Crossed. My Psychiatrist told me that doing this would be a waste of time but i dont care, I'm doing whats best for me and give it my all. Hope you're well man stay strong! I'm with ya.

      Daniel, I’m sorry to learn that your therapist discouraged you from seeing a hypnotherapist. Hypnotherapy can be extremely effective, because it bypasses the ego and reaches the subconscious where all feelings and memories are stored. How were your results with your hypnotherapist? 🤞

    This is a useful perspective. I’m trained in both hypnosis and ERP, exposure and response prevention, and I have found ERP very powerful. Mark, would you say that ERP is a form of hypnosis?

    • @miraavella1894
      @miraavella1894 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry that i answer instead but I do not think that ERP is hypnosis, it's part of CBT. And you are very aware while doing ERP.

    I have ocd but i don't relate to rituals feeling like being out of space. I never feel relaxed during the rituals instead i am fully alert.(relaxation comes only after the ritual) Maybe I misunderstood what you mean by feeling out of space.

    I actually don't know, but maybe something similar to Mario Volpstein's website exposes the closest thing there is to rotating back the hands of time. Maybe try googliing him to verify if it would be an approach that seems reasonable to you personally too.
