I do feel sad, though, about how it all played out, and I wish the Pac 12 had survived to operate on a par with the power conferences. An honest assessment, however, would involve a hard look at Oregon State's problem of their football team hemorrhaging money year after year. Like the Ducks or hate the Ducks, they've built a sustainable financial foundation for football. The Oregon State strategy, of taking millions annually out of their academic budget, crying to boosters in the Legislature for subsidies, and now praying for a big settlement from the departing schools, is not going to work, ever.
Their financial strategy wasn’t going to survive in the same way as a program like UO in the new landscape of where CFB was headed. It’s definitely unfortunate for that program and irregardless of them being a rival, I don’t wish they were stuck in the position they are. But to blame UO and act like we gave them the death penalty is a lazy view on their part. But the show goes on, one way or another.
Oregon and Ohio State will be the two best teams in the conference along with possibly PSU in 2024. The concern I see for Oregon is the consistent level of defense it will face compared to what the PAC had. @ Wisconsin, @Michigan, Illinois, Maryland and Ohio State will offer top level defense. I can see one surprise loss beyond OSU but I do see a B10 championship game rematch in December along with a playoff appearance. My prediction is a 10-2 regular season record.

the statement of "playing at home with all our noise against OSU" means virtually nothing, OSU has played at PSU with the notorious "white out" and has won many times, also same thing with Michigan at a stadium cap at 120K... I totally respect your evaluation of OSU vs Oregon.. but Oregon wont be able to just out talent OSU.. Oregon will need some turnovers and some big time plays. OSU wins 27-20 OSU's defense will be top 3.. quote me on it.
I got Oregon pulling off the upset vs Ohio state at home. Oregon gonna be sky high and Autzen will be rockin! Michigan and Wisconsin on the road are really tough games because although Oregon has more talent those are really physical teams. Oregon may drop one of or both those ones. Should be a fun and interesting season. Go Ducks!

I'm a little skeptic of 11-1 this season, although in the back of my mind I believe it's possible. The factors I'm concerned about are decisions/calls made by Dan during a game. People that start. Injury factor. And playing on the road in a hostile environment. Yes, I think we can beat Ohio State here since Autzen crowd will make sure that happens. But the road games to Michigan and Wisconsin are concerning. Yes, the 24 Class is stacked-not to mention the talent that is returning for both sides of the ball. So I can probably live with 10-2 losing to Michigan and Wisconsin. But you never know. Things could be better this year with no major injuries, and good calls from coaching staff. Really want to see this team be in position for Natty. This is Dans 3rd year. I hope he has learned some vital lessons from the past. I'm sure he wants a shot at Natty too.
Absolutely. You should check out our “The Dan Lanning Effect”, we address some of the growing pains of having a 2nd year (heading into Y3) Coach and why I think we see that growth in that aspect. My main reason for the 11-1 was the shear depth this roster has, primarily due to the portal and the quality that was brought in. There’s quality depth up and down this roster which would negate some of my concern of the injury bug. But you’re right, I’ve been to Wisconsin games probably 10 times in my life and that environment can be insane, as with The Big House. Also why I gave a “floor” projection. Not saying they can’t win. Just taking into consideration the vast depth and quality experienced players OSU has on its roster in 24’. It’s incredibly difficult to go undefeated and if a loss happens, this game is most likely. All I’m saying! Love the confidence though, Go Ducks! 🦆

I have our DUCKS 10-2 before the playoffs. Give or take 11-1. They will not lose to Ohio State in AUTZEN stadium. Oregon is a different breed at home. The noise is so loud you cant even here the person next to you when it gets loud if they talk to you. You can see the flexy glass shaking inside the stadium building. When I’m there during games, it’s noticeable. It scares me watching people in front of it

Talent was pretty damn good in Oregon when Chip was here.
Very difficult to go undefeated, however, it isn't beyond their ceiling. Shouldn't be expected! 😜
