    Great collection. I love that WW2 U.S. Helmet. The liner is WW2 for sure. Looks like the sweatband is a repro also. Love the WW1 U.S. helmets also. I have 89 helmets in my collection as of now. I have about 12 that I am going to sell.. I am starting to get picky about what I buy/ want to keep in my collection. I have added more shelves and moved a lot around on my display wall. I am going to make an updated video in the near future. Thanks for sharing.

    Very nice collection. For your information regarding the British "Tommy" helmet, It DOES have the edge covered! I just checked my Dads helmet dated 1940 and his has the edging on. It is also fitted with the normal cruciform black rubber "bump stop" where the screw comes through the crown of the shell to protect the wearers head along with the normal oilcloth liner system. I hope this helps you sometime in the future, you may even get to buy a similar helmet. Thanks Dave UK

    Attention! Also the irish army used a german style helmet made in Great Brittain in late 20s to early 40s. As civilian protection helmet up to 60s.

      Yes, the model 1927 mad by Vickers, but it is easily recognizable as it is lighter, of a lesser quality and bears a small steel strap welded in the front to put the insignia. And if you have ever one, you're lucky as they are much rarer than the German helmets and very expensive

  • @panzerproductions4668
    @panzerproductions4668 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The german helmet with the holes that are uneven is most likely just a production error when they were trying to rush them out

  • @luc2527
    @luc2527 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The reason why your relic M42 has uneven distances between te vents and rivet holes is probably because at the end of the war they started to make the M42 Stahlhelms a little bit more sloppy and rushed so you would see factory defects pop up. I'm not 100% sure if that is the case but I'm pretty sure of it.

    • @worldwarguy459
      @worldwarguy459  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luc it’s possible.

    • @luc2527
      @luc2527 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@worldwarguy459 Indeed. It is known that late war M42's sometimes came out of the factories with defects and were being used anyways because of the lack of resources and time. So yours might be an example of that, which would it make an extra unique piece.

      World War Guy the Finnish M/55s are either original WW2 German M40's with new liners, or, more often, they are post-war West German made. You can tell: if they have markings on the shell they're wartime. There were a few different liner and rivet models, since some unlucky(or lucky :D) guys in less important areas were still issued these in the 2000's.

    • @panzerfaust3607
      @panzerfaust3607 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      IMA sells both WW2 finnish Stahlhelms from WW2 and post war Finnish Stahlhelms. If you want to know which is which you just have to read the description carefully. It is kind of scummy that they sort of hide it in the description.

      John Gatchalian that is not correct. You can see on British helmets the MK1 had split pins while the American produced helmets had rivets. Many American soldier were issued British made helmets.

  • @алексейгорохов-и8г
    @алексейгорохов-и8г 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tell me, was the Belgian M 1 helmet made in Belgium or were American original helmets used? Did the Belgian M 1 differ from the American M 1? I purchased a helmet similar to the first one in your video. I thought it was West German, but in your video it’s called Belgian. It also has dents. But inside it is inserted a plastic green helmet, which has leather on the edges in the form of petals (like the German M 40), with a stamp on the skin "SO ?? O (U?) GA 96". On the steel helmet, the seam at the bottom is located at the back. There are digits "76/1" inside the back. (Translated using Google translator).

    • @worldwarguy459
      @worldwarguy459  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      алексей горохов after world war 2, many western countries started adopting the M1 helmet. Many countries had clone m1s which were the same besides a few minor differences. Those countries made their own helmet. They also had their own types of liners and chinstraps such as the Belgians basically kept the same style than the Americans while west Germans had their own liners.

    Nice collection of rather basic helmets in not a such good condition for most of them, and there would be a lot to say... regarding finnish helmets, I've never heard they made new ones (and what for, there were plenty of german helmets at the end of the war !), and anyway, before buying some in the early 50's, they used almost everything Germany used itself during the war. So I believe his one is a good german M. 1940. The french M. 1926, hum, what should I say... the paint isn't original (maybe 1944-45 overpaint, though the shade looks too light for the period) and he insignia is post-war made. The liner and the chinstrap are horrible reproductions, never saw such ugly things !
    About the two belgian M. 1915, both have been repainted, and I thing yoou paid too high a price for the shell. I found one with its original paint and chinstrap on eBay some 10 years ago for 70 euros... the second you're talking about, with what we call here in France "gaufrettes" ("waffles", because of their shape), is a model made in the 20's by the Fonson company, the main difference being the visor and neck parts are made together in one piece when the standard Adrian is made of two parts.
    Very nice american m 1917, love it ! But it seems you don't know how to make a difference between a british made and an american made helmet... yes, the first helmets produced in Britain, the Brodie type, had a sharp edge, but they very quickly switched to the added edge, copied by the US. There are two things that make a difference between the two : on the british made helmet, the felt pad had a rubber ring glued to the shell under it, the US hadn't. And the chinstrap bales of the british made were fixed wit split rivets, when the US made had plain rivets. Forget this story of raw edge, most of WW1 british helmets you can find now have also this added edge !
