Yes! I'm a solo single mom to my disabled child and haven't had a haircut in 7 years. It's breaking off all the way up my head so figured might as well try this and so happy!
A single mom to that's cut her own hair for years I have fine thin hair and there's such a tiny amount to cut it's hard to justify how much they want for a haircut
@@egodeathalone Doc Berg has a good video about hair loss or when your hair is not healthy really a help to my granddaughter Check it out if your hair is breaking off that much maybe it'll be helpful God bless
Me and three of my children are homeless/living in our minivan. We don't have the money to go spend at a salon. I saw this video a few months back, and it helped me so much. I did this, but instead of cutting over the pony, I did it under, and it turned out great.❤
Love this woman, not condensing, straight to the point. I asked my hairdresser cousin a question about layering and she refused to answer me and told me to go to a hairdressers. So annoying….Thank you Brittnee ❤
My DIY haircut was better than the last 4 haircuts by professionals. They were all uneven and way too many layers and even after asking them not to, they got the thinning scissors onto it. 4 TIMES! 4 DIFFERENT PEOPLE! I was ready to give up when I thought I'd give this a go. Thank you so very much, you're a very good teacher. 😊
I have had the same problem! There had been one stylist over the past 20 years that doesn't screw up my hair or do something weird, but she has gone from difficult-to-get-ahold-of to retired. Throughout the years, when frustrated that she wasn't calling/texting back soon enough (once she started working out of her home), I would go somewhere else and regret it. Sometimes it would take a couple years to overcome the damage done. I've already been doing it myself here and there, but need some better techniques. This looks like it will help! My hair is wavy/curly so it's not a big deal if something isn't perfectly straight, anyway. I'm currently trying to grow out some weird layers I got in May, the last time I broke down and paid someone. 😢 Even paying for a highly paid stylist who was a recommended curly hair expert didn't help. He had one cut to enhance curls, and it worked, but it involved cutting small short bits in between the longer sections to encourage curl clumping. The next time he cut my very thin hair, he did it again and it was very thin. Looked bad. He told me I needed to have chin-length hair, for it to look good. He did not know how to deal with hair like mine. I'm more and more convinced that I should just do my own from now on.
I'm from the UK I swear there are no good hairdressers even the expensive ones are useless, I cut my own and did my daughters a lot better than the salons
Never had a cleaner cut in my life, plus my bangs are popping. I have had severe hair thinning from lupus meds this year, your tutorial made me feel confident again. HUGE THANK YOU!💖
Hi there! I have lupus too and lost a scary amt of hair for several months. It's not fun. Happily mine is growing back. I hope yours does too and you feel better.
Thank you so much I've been cutting my own hair for 10 years. It's so thin .. this is the best video I've ever seen. I just cut my hair the way your tutorial showed . It was so easy .it turned out so pretty . I'm excited. It looks like a professional cut it . I really appreciate you . I feel so much better about myself ...❤ i actually got dressed and put on makeup this morning I was so excited about my new hairstyle. No place to go. Bit it me feel so good about myself. You're the best . I will definitely be watching you.. I used to go to a professional saloon most of my life. But life changes. I'm now a divorced Retired Nurse . So things are really different. But I always make the best of everything. I hope you hsfe a blessed day ❤🙏
I love the phrase u say "giv urself some grace"..... Not just for doing ur own hair but for life in general, I think as women and mums we are often way to hard on ourselves and want everything to always appear as perfect and that saying applies so well to many aspects of life. Awesome video as always! ❤️
I've binged 5 of your videos and come to the conclusion that you are more or less a magician. You've simplified and demystified the most basic cuts and it's a bonus that your hair is quite similar to mine. Thank you for making these videos for us diy home stylists!
The paradox, I'm a hairdresser. Does not work as it any more. No hairdresser ever got my hair as I wanted, and due to severe allergy I can't visit a salon anymore, plus it's expensive. Got my husband to cut my hair quite good. Just comb everything back straight, cut with a slight curve downwards. Worked exellent, but was a bit boring. Been long term ill, needed a haircut badly, and wanted something fun for my thin hair. Found your guide and BAM! Nailed it and I'm super happy. My hair looks fabulous. Thank you so much for your time, effort and guide ❤ I feel as myself again.
I’ve watched quite a few hair trimming tutorials but this is by far the easiest to understand I watched it a couple of times and it’s so quick and easy to follow, I was a little nervous at the end to see the results but it turned looking great I’m gonna keep using this technique in between appointments at the hairdressers, so glad I found your channel and a massive thank you to you 😊
I love this cut. I've been doing DIY cuts for years, but this one has been my go to since the video first came out. It's so quick and easy to do and as long as you follow the steps exactly you can't go wrong.
I've had super long hair all my life. I'm a senior and my hair is so thin, I'm sitting on it. The salons are so expensive . I'm glad I found you! I Did it! It looks great, now I just have to learn how to style my new cut. Sending love from California.
I just strolled through this! Everything is for curly hair. Thank you for this! I did CUT my hair. 5 inches. Blunt cut. I ❤ it. Shoulder length. It's much fuller. Thank you again. No one has been able to cut my hair where I'm pleased when I leave. 🎉🎉

Thank you so much I always get bad hairdressers, nd I use to be one until my back nd arm got messed up. But I know I can do this nd I have very fine hair too. Many Blessings
This is the best DIY haircutting channel on YT. Living as a digital nomad, finding a stylist in a foreign country is one thing. Finding one that speaks English is a whole other challenge. I also have fine hair and appreciate these tutorials. This woman is a blessing.
thank you! I have a hair channel that has short DIY tutorials youtube.com/@brittneealexushair it's mostly color videos right now but I am working on more haircutting ones to add on there
Thanks a lot, what a help. I got a haircut by my hairdresser, and I told her, I was not sure if i wanted layers, cause my hair is so fine, and I did not want it to look to thin. She cut it with layers, and since I have been misserable, it looked so thin and unhealthy. I looked for a diy haircut to repair it myself. And thanks to your tutorial, now my hair looks exelent. Such an easy tutorial, and what a change. I love my new haircut. Thank you so much. I might save this link, for next time I need a haircut :D
Thank you I’m an older woman with fine hair and with age getting thinner who doesn’t want to cut my hair short and this was very helpful ! Very easy to follow and it worked great thank you 😊
Just wanted to add my thanks to you Brittnee for your videos. I've cut my hair using this one for a while now and I love it. First time was scary but now I just get on with it, snipping away. I'd been going to my local village hairdresser for years but then it got taken over and was under new management. Ummm. Every time I went the price had gone up and as there were no price lists anywhere I never knew what I would be paying. The last time I went the price had gone up by 24%. I know things have been going up but this was the limit for me. I came home from that, found Brittnee and have been here ever since. Thank you from England. 😁😁xxx
Nice and simple. I’ve tried other tutorials but they had a lot more steps than needed for my fine hair. My new cut looks good and I think you are right about it looking fuller with more bluntness.
Thank you life changer for me Looks as good as my friends who probably paid 40 bucks for her haircut with fine thin hair they have to cut so little off😮
THANK YOU FOR MY NEW HAIRCUT. I've just given up on salons, I refer to my hair as the ego-killer for stylists. This cut gave me a lift and a fresh look and suits my fine, thin hair perfectly. Bless you!!!
As a stylist, THANK YOU! I absolutely LOATHE getting my hair done because I spend a majority of my time behind the chair already. Being a suite owner gives me time to myself but not enough to want to spend in a chair on my days off ❤
I just did this diy cut for the first time ever, on my fine curly hair. I got the scissors you recommended. Glad I did felt more confident using them I’m going to blow dry now and see how it looks straighter but so far looks and def feels good to get rid of those ends.
I went to school to cut hair 30 years ago. Since moving to a farm in the country, having time to find a hair dresser has not been a top priority. I came across your video and the concept made perfect sense. I have been using this demo to cut my hair over the last year. My hair gets almost 3/4 down my back and I cut it to about your finished length. It works perfect every time. Thank you for taking the time to do this video! So many can follow your easy instructions and get the same result!
I am obsessed with your channel, u have saved me a ton of money! Just gave myself a long Bob and seriously people think I went to the salon ❤ amazing techniques thank you
I’m a guy with long hair. I was long overdue for a refresh on my hair. I tried this and my hair turned out perfect! Looks so much healthier and thicker. Thanks for the tutorial!
OH MY GOSH!!!! I can't believe I did it. I moved from CA to TN last year and haven't been able to find a new hairdresser that I'm willing to trust. Because of that my hair grew all the way down to my belly button. I have fine, thin hair and the longer it got the more stringy it became. Picture gross wispy ends. Bleck! I watched a bunch of your videos over and over and finally did it yesterday. My hair is now boob length and you even gave me the courage to cut some curtain bangs. What?! I love them! My hair looks thicker, healthier and my ends are great. Every time I walk by a mirror I shamelessly stop to look. Haha. I can't believe how much confidence I have again. You are an amazing instructor and confidence builder. Simply INSPIRATIONAL! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ♥ Hope this finds you groovy!
I sure enjoyed watching this. I also cut my own hair although I wear it very short. In my experience I find that when cutting shorter fine thin hair, blunt (choppy) layers are the best and then wear it messy. It definitely gives the illusion of more hair. Isn't the Powder Play terrific? A must for fine hair. Love your technique and your hair looks great.
I remember looking up these types of videos during the lockdown to try to cut my own hair.. and here we are again lol didnt expect JTT's cute smile in the background. Thank you for these informative tutorials Brit.
I’m so glad I found you! I have fine hair just like yours except I’ve grown out my natural brown color. I recently invested a lot of money for sew-in invisible bead type and high end extension hair from my stylist, and they never looked right. I wore them for a month and had to see my stylist 4 times to fix problems in that month even though I took excellent care of them. She didn’t quite blend them well either. I was very self-conscious of what I thought was obvious lack of blending. I asked her to take them out and put clips on the wefts, and they’re in a drawer. In the end, I bought full shine clip in color blend 282 from AliExpress super cheap, and used your tutorials to blend them with my hair. They look great, and they match my hair color perfectly. Thanks for everything that you do.
Thank you for the tutorial, I have alopecia and very thin hair, I followed your instructions and even though I cut it a little shorter than I had planned, I really like it. My hubby had to cut just a little off the back because I ended up with a point in the middle, he was easily able to cut that off for me. I'm sure with a little practice I will get better. I really appreciate you sharing how to do this!
This has been the most useful video when it comes to cutting my own hair. I downloaded it over a year ago and I use it EVERY single time I cut my hair. I have really thick hair (well, it's fine actually, but there's tons of it, thanks to my double crown) so I always have layers, no matter what the length is. I've used this tutorial to cut short layered bobs, mid length, and long layered haircuts on myself and it's the simplest, easiest to follow tutorial I've seen so far. Thank you Brittnee! x
Thank you so much for making these tutorials! It's not always easy to go and just get your hair cut or done as a single mom. Also some hair dressers don't always cut hair the way you want it, so to be able to do the cut I like by myself is awesome! Your videos are easy to follow and simple enough for me to not screw up my hair! Lol .. Again, thank you so much!
Girl THANK You! I watch these tutorial videos all the time. You are the best I've seen by far. Quick and straight forward about what's happening a at home haircut in my bathroom! My hair looks great. My 15 yr old wants me to do hers next ... Thanks again I've been watching all your videos today.
OK I been wanting to cut my hair, it's very thick and curly, it's been breaking and thinning due to health and stress, I followed your steps , easy , you explained everything right to the point, I took off 2 inches I love it so far lol still finishing as we speak but thank you for your video!!
Thank you so much. I moved to a place where I can't trust the beauty shops and have been here since 2000. I have been cuting my own hair most of the time. Now I'm 68. I have perfectly straight hair so you and I know that leaves no room for mistakes. Thanks again.
I’m so happy to have found your channel! I cannot afford to go to the salon currently and after watching hours of videos I came across yours and WOW! You make it so easy and simple! My hair came out great and it was so quick! Thank you!!
Great tutorial!! You are a great teacher and got straight to the point without all the faffing around that sometimes happens on hair tutorials. Love your easy breasy manner!
I’ve used this video for myself and it’s always turned out perfectly. Recently my daughter had her hair butchered, from a new hairdresser, at the same salon we’ve gone to for 10+ years. It was literally her prom night, graduation the next week, and this lady did such a horrible job we were both in tears. It’s thick and curly, but she loves to straighten it with the layers. She just wanted a trim, but this lady thinned it and took off 6 inches in the front, 8 in the back. It was choppy and a mess. The owner blended it, but she will only trust me to cut her hair from now on. So now I have to learn tricks from a pro. I appreciate all of your videos. ❤
Just did this cut and it turned out pretty well! I was heart broken after my hair dresser of FIVE YEARS refused me as a client bc I had to cancel the day of my last appointment due to an extended funeral trip. I called and texted multiple times the day of and she never replied once and even talked trash about me to another client (who then told me). I didn't do my hair for over a year. The thought of finding someone new was too much as it's really hard finding a good hair dresser who knows what to do with my hair type, let alone the money for someone decent. So, I let my mom highlight it recently (no we had no idea what we were doing but tried to have fun and follow the directions and it looks pretty decent!) and just did this cut today. Thank you for not judging and providing helpful videos for real people out there.
I recently purchased a Voloom Rootie. Its a crimping iron you use on your roots and it gives me awesome volume that lasts for days. My hair is very fine but i have lots of hair.
This is my new favorite video of ALL TIME! Straight to the point, fast talking, easy to follow. I think it's smart you wore a black top...it made your blonde hair pop while trimming your ends in the front. I'm a brunette, I'll try a white top. Thanks so much...subscribed after just one video!
I just love this haircut. I've cut my own hair for years but this is now my go to cut. I've done this many times now and it never disappoints. Thank you so much.
I was so terrified but watched you video.. and did it.. and love my hair.. I did a bleach wash and dyed my hair back to green.. my ends were done with life.. it’s a Sunday and no place was open.. thank you for this video ❤
After watching ssooooo many videos I am so thankful I decided to watch this before cutting my hair. This one is by far the easiest I too have straight thin hair.
Love your hair tutorials girl!! You make it so easy for us to follow and do at home! If it's cutting extensions in your hair or just cutting your own hair you do step by step making it easy. I always love your video's you always make me laugh!!! Again thanxs for the service beautiful!!! Much love from Canada :)
Thanks for this. I have never had thick hair, but have now lost about 50% of it. :-( It's also baby fine...so...think annoying. I'm tired of stylists doing crappy jobs that I need to fix. So, I need to start cutting my own 15 hairs. This quick, easy video is appreciated. I won't go with layers though. My hair is too thin now as it is. Blunt rules!
THANK YOU BRITTNEE... I have the weight in the back like you mentioned and was working on figuring out how to change that, and there it is your VIDEO. I appreciate you taking the time to upload this video. Love your hair and hair cut. You look amazing!!! Kindly and gratefully yours, Rosemarie :)
I have cut my hair twice in the past 6 months after watching your other hair cutting video. I have the same type of hair as you so next time I’ll be adding some long layers. Thank you❤
I've cut my hair several times using a combo of this tutorial + the one you've got posted for side swept bangs from 3 years ago! Love my results. Super quick and easy and saves me a fuck ton of $ ❤😂
You're awesome, I felt you articulated this entire video perfectly and I always appreciate when people get right to the point with 'how to' and product tips that I'm excited about and willing to try. :)

I tried it and I get so many compliments! They did not believe me when I said I cut it myself! Thank you for this video!! ❤
My hair is thick and This cut worked for me as well. Thank you for this tutorial !
2 years later and I still follow this tutorial for my hair! It’s my favorite and SOOO easy.
Just a quick thank you for all these diy hair cutting techniques! I have saved so much money and gained so much confidence in cutting my own hair!
I hope you are not in lockdown again and just doing this because you want to💙
I just gave my hair a cut using this tutorial! It turned out great. Thanks!! :)
Me too
I’m so glad I found you!
THANK YOU I just gave myself the best, most even haircut I've had in years! Could you please make a simple face framing video?
Thank you for the tutorial, I have alopecia and very thin hair, I followed your instructions and even though I cut it a little shorter than I had planned, I really like it. My hubby had to cut just a little off the back because I ended up with a point in the middle, he was easily able to cut that off for me. I'm sure with a little practice I will get better. I really appreciate you sharing how to do this!
This was the quickest and easiest explanation to do a quick layered cut at home - thank you so much!
This was so easy and quick. I struggle making my very thin hair look good and this cut gave me so much volume. Thank you so much
This has been the most useful video when it comes to cutting my own hair. Thank you Brittnee! x
i love this, thank you so much- glad it could help!
I love the way you descreibed, I watched many of difference VDO but yours is the best in my opinion. I try it right now, thanks😊
Great Tutorial - I never imagined that it could be that easy - and it works perfectly 🎉 I’m absolutely happy with my haircut - done by myself!!
Thank you! I just found your video and worked up the courage to trust myself, and now I will be able to handle my own haircuts. You are amazing.
Girl THANK You! I watch these tutorial videos all the time. You are the best I've seen by far. Quick and straight forward about what's happening a at home haircut in my bathroom! My hair looks great. My 15 yr old wants me to do hers next ... Thanks again I've been watching all your videos today.
YAYA!!!! love this! glad it could help!
OK I been wanting to cut my hair, it's very thick and curly, it's been breaking and thinning due to health and stress, I followed your steps , easy , you explained everything right to the point, I took off 2 inches I love it so far lol still finishing as we speak but thank you for your video!!
Late bloomer on your channel....Your videos are seamless! Thanks for giving back to the Hair community in a down to earth way!👍🙂
Thank you so much.
This video was a lifesaver for me today. My hair was in desperate need of a cut. Thank you!
Incredibly helpful! I'm in retirement and can't afford expensive haircuts. You do us all such a great service with these videos. Thank you so much.
Finally, exactly what I can see and have confidence to do myself! A natural teacher I do love this! Keep it coming! Styling tips as well!
I recently purchased a Voloom Rootie. Its a crimping iron you use on your roots and it gives me awesome volume that lasts for days. My hair is very fine but i have lots of hair.
Ooooh I need this! x
Thank you! Great tutorial. I’m so pleased with how my hair turned out. It looks so healthy now.
Ok, I’m sold. Doing this right now. And THANK YOU for a video with no endless chatter !!👍🏼👍🏼
4th time cutting my hair with your technique Britnee, it’s always a success! Thanks!!!!
Thank u so much. Just did this haircut and it made my hair look thick 😇
Cut my own hair today using this video right here ! 😍 i think this looks better than the salon! You are amazing! Thank you so much!
Thank you for this easy tutorial video. Just finished my hair cut and I am pleased with the outcome.
I was so terrified but watched you video.. and did it.. and love my hair.. I did a bleach wash and dyed my hair back to green.. my ends were done with life.. it’s a Sunday and no place was open.. thank you for this video ❤
I am so impressed! I did a terrible job with front layering. Gonna try the horseshoe pony thing. Thank you 💗
Thank you so much! I did not expect to be able to pull this off without something going terribly wrong. Lol
I love how it turned out!
After watching ssooooo many videos I am so thankful I decided to watch this before cutting my hair. This one is by far the easiest I too have straight thin hair.
Instructions are so clear. I love it. Thank you!
Great. Simple and to the point. No unnecessary talking. TY!
Thank you❤
I’m a mom of 6 and don’t have time to get my hair cut. THANK YOU! This worked perfectly.❤️❤️❤️
