I just bought a bottle and it's my first time having it. Good heavens, this is absolutely fantastic.
It's literally the best thing one can put in his mouth.
Now that is one generous dram right there.
this is probably the series of videos that needed to be made the most in history
I had no idea what I brought home. The bottle of Lagavulin was next to a Black Label I was planning to buy. I never heard of this drink and decided to give it a try. After few sips and I was rocked... I had to google it to find out what I brought home. I do not think I will go back to my Jhonnie for a while.
Oh there is no comparison... Lagavulin is the superior juice.
Ron Swanson: "Nectar of the Gods"
mother's milk
I've seriously watched this like 20 times in the last week. It's only 15 seconds long, but B-Cox fuckin' nails it. pow.
Who's here after Aubrey de Grey corrected Jamie?
i am, i happen to like this scotch and was saying the name also wrong :)
These videos are really helpful.
The distiller edition is awsome
Oh my god I love these
He also played Dr. Hannibal Lecktor (spelled this way due to copyright issues) in the 1986 film Manhunter. This would be the first film to feature Hannibal Lecter in any form, 5 years before the much more successful Silence of the Lambs.
One could say that Hopkins based much of his performance on Cox's interpretation of Lecktor!
Agreed Mr. Cox.
The scotchiest of Scotches. Probably not for beginners, but this stuff is incredible. My favorite in the $100 range. Will set off your smoke detectors!
What is the best for beginners?
Scotchiest meaning what exactly?
@@T--xk3hf Most scotch-like? LOL. Most representative of scotch (which would be wrong)? Just going for humor, man. And it isn’t my favorite at $100 anymore.
Brilliant!
Ron Swanson brought me here
That is a generous pour!
One word. Class.
welp, i'm sold.
My favourite, with the possible exception of old Coleraine.
Best known roles:
Major Hogan in Sharpe
Argyle Wallace in Braveheart
Killearn in Rob Roy
Hermann Göring in Nuremburg
Capt. O'Hagen in Super Troopers
General Stryker in XMen 2
Agamemnon in Troy
Ward Abbott in The Bourne Supremacy
The pride of Scotland
Best tasting depth charge.
A very nice Islay (you have to like the smoky, peaty flavor).
Pow.
I want that job!
Like it? LOVE it more like! Pow. Just like that!
Jamie & Aubrey de Grey brought me here
Joe was closer than ABD
@@caseyrobertson6599 I was pretty sure that guy was saying it wrong, but had to confirm.
Me too. He was so confident too.
@@PoultryBuffer It's been one of my favorite distilleries for a long time, and I had never ever heard anyone pronouncing it like he did, or anything close to that for that matter. Couldn't remember anyone saying it like that in PR videos either. I had a distant memory of watching a video about a man "celebrating" having worked at the distillery for 40 years, which I obviously had to go back and watch again, who also just had a straight forward pronunciation of the name.
I have to admit, seeing ABD pronounce it like he did, and also him being unable to resist correcting Jamie for what was essentially a more correct way of saying the name was more than a little disconcerting. The combination of ignorance and arrogance on display made me question other statements he makes, and also his character in general.
They should use this clip as their new telly advert. Why waste millions, just get coxy to do his thing!
Lagavulin is just a southern Ila scotch, Laphroaig and Ardbeg are right next store. The Lagavulin 16 is just an older scotch so it’s had more time for the peat smoke to work itself out, Laphroaig quarter cask has the same effect and is about half the price. FYI.
Negative, Ghostrider... I love me some Laphroaig. However, Lagavulin 16 isn't equivalent to the QC. The QC is delicious - I won't deny it, but definitely not in the same league as Lagavulin.

This clip is epic :) *pow*
Mmmmm, boy that Hennigans goes down smooth.
lol - good stuff!
The 16 is divine :)
is this ron swanson's father?
That's... quite the measure 🥃 😅
Where can I get a job like this? I love single malt and I can drink them and I can sit in a chair and I can pronounce the names without any help. Did I mention I love single malt whisky?
The scotch of choice for Lord John Marbury.
“Actually, you can leave everything out except the shot of whiskey and be well on your way.”
Well i got one part right :P

This was so good it inspired me to spoof it! Check out WhiskyWhistle!
thats what I was going to say
I've had no other scotch that compares to it
Laphroaig is really good too.
It's truly in a class all its own. Laphroaig 10 was my first love in Islay scotches, and I love it 13 years later. Lagavulin 16 is an indulgence. It's like catching the eye of a beautiful woman from across the room. It makes you feel special because you can appreciate it.
Nectar!
i never knew lagavulin was a welsh word
What did he say? Work like a.... what?
Love to know how to pronounce whisky names.
Works like a depth charge. (pause)... POW.
Become a notable actor of over 35 years?
It used to be Brian.. The modern casks aren't quite up to snuff.. There's too much sherry influence, less complex on the development and lacking the finish it used to have. Artificial colour and chill filtering doesn't do the current 16 any favours either.. Of course it's still a very good whisky, it is Lagavulin after all.
However, frankly I'd rather have an Independently bottled Caol Ila cask strength or Ardbeg, at the moment.
Haven’t found that to be the case. But agree with you on Ardbeg. Some terrific malts.
I heard the guy at Lagavulin say it's pronounced "La-GAH-voo-lin" not "la-ga-voolin" like above.
That's a fairly subtle difference. Then again, he pronounces the first syllable of "cognac" as "khan" instead of "cone" as the French do, so perhaps he's taking some regional liberties.
We're Scottish, we can pronounce it however we like, so we can.. As can you (if you're not) 😁 haha
Seriously though, if you're unaware, there are many differences in dialect throughout Scotland, for such a small country anyway, and hence vaste differences in the pronunciation of most words. In fact The 'Natives' of the Northern Isles' and the far Northern mainland have dialects far more pronounced and perhaps more recognisable internationally, than most of mainland Scotland, which have quite subtle and less 'lyrical' accents.
Just watched a 2010 video, "Lagavulin - through the eyes of Iain McArthur". At that time he'd been working at Lagavulin ("la-ga-voo-lin") for 40 years. There's just a wee bit of accent on the LA and the VOO. I hear the same pronunciation from Mr Cox.
Eff ye thump yer whisky wee on nice er wooder yeel qwiklee fined yer boc syde alley thunkt.
WhiskY. No ice no wooder no E fur me whiskY pls. Ta.
oi, cowboy! get a proper glass to fully appreciate it
They should have had Ron Swanson say it!!!
Bad glass.
I wanted to like it. I TRIED to like it. But it just tastes like liquefied campfire ashes to me. I can't taste anything but smoke. Unpeated scotch is where it's at. (please forgive me Ron Swanson!)

Glass is unimpressive
has he seen how crap cognac is now?
who is this guy? I see esquire that makes me think he is some kind of actor nobody.
Lagavulin 16 is dyed and at a disgraceful 43%, Drink 12, cask strength, if you want a decent Lagavulin experience.
Tetrahedragon2 Not sure why you are so upset about the 16 its still a fine drink my friend, just because it isn't cask strength doesn't mean its not worth your salt.
xb10hazardx Because it should be at least 46% to really let it shine and in a perfect world low 50's(which I admit is asking a lot). And more than anything I hate the practice of dying single malt scotch whisky, it's beneath the majesty of the product. It's false advertising because they don't label it, but what's worse it is so unnecessary, the 16 is CERTAINLY fine fine whisky and doesn't need to be made to look any different than the barrel intended. I guess I'm just taking a stand against the practice of over diluting fine whisky and especially the rampant practice of dying it.
The dye is really obvious too, when you put it side by side against the 12 year, and especially the new 8 year (which is almost water-clear!).
I'd prefer a time machine, Lagavulin used to be far better..
I'd rather pick up a bottle of Ardbeg 10yr today or a Caol Ila Cast Stength, from an independent bottler.
xb10hazardx It's the added E150a colouring and the Chill filtering that's the major let down, in my opinion, not the ABV.
This was the first scotch I ever tried and it just tasted like Dettol and hospitals. I don't get the appeal.
