Sharing Bourbon with your dad is a far cry from my dad sharing his beer with me when I was a kid. I still think of those days. We did share Jack Daniel's and Crown Royal after I turned 21.
Wee tip... its pronounced Glen Cay-ern, the glass. Scottish lad here. Whiskey with an e is Irish, whisky without an e is Scottish (and my favourite). I don't like folk who disagree with others on how they take their whisky (or dram, as we call it), one should take it how they enjoy it. I much prefer mine with a tiny splash of water, for me it brings out the flavour and the whisky is less harsh. Enjoy your way, people. Nice video as ever.
Hello from India🇮🇳 (highest whisky consumer in the world about 48%) First of all great channel. Just to add in, people here mostly drink whisky in a 30, 60, 90ml format. Ither neat, on rocks, or water or water and soda mostly. The thing is its rarely seen here that someone would spend time enjoying the taste, they will drink about 300ml per head in one night just for the kick of it.
@@dr.klausschwab6184 if you follow the tips in this video and many others and depending on the whiskey, it can very much be different. Gotta grow the palate.
I appreciate that you use Burning Chair Bourbon. That is my favorite and has been for a long time. Not alot of people know about it and how amazing it is.
Quickly becoming one of my favorite channels while my friend and I discover and learn ways to open up our bar. Just so educational, smooth and fun. Thank you, gents!
Me sitting here drinking a beer watching this. I stopped drinking liquor 2 years ago. Used to mix half and half coke and whiskey. Was finishing an entire bottle in 2 - 3 hours. I appreciate nice cocktails and want to start trying new drinks again. Just without going hard and fast.

I’m tired of drinking beer I like watching you guys you guys have very interesting drinks you guys should come up with some type of drink list so all of us beginners don’t screw it all up
Are you wanting a list of bourbons beginners should drink? There are lower proofs 86-95 ands then you can have a little higher BiB at 100proof or you can go higher. Personally I’m a higher prof guy, nothing under 100 for the most part. But if I were to recommend any bottle it would be Michters, this is a pretty easy bottle to come buy and is my favorite line for about $40 a bottle. I have favorites but those bottles are a bit more expensive anywhere from $100 to $250! It is a fun world to get into and you have fun collecting and trying different bourbons, ryes, sour mash whiskey. If you have any questions I’d love to help you out getting into whiskey!
I do love a good neat whisky myself. Thank you so much for doing these video's chaps. I genuinely enjoy hearing people who are passionate and knowledgeable talking about Whisky. I find that the more I learn and different ways and techniques to drinking my favourite spirit the more of an experience and pleasure I get out of it. So thanks again gents! 🥃
Love this video because it reinforces the fact that whisky is enjoyed any way the drinker prefers (unless its with coke of course). I have whiskies that i enjoy in each of these ways and its great to try different whiskies each way

Alcohol and cigarettes addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.
Thanks for sharing your story. That's rough I sympathize. Save your health save your mind. Life is better without heroin, cocaine, alcohol and cigarettes. And you have more money in your pocket. God bless everyone who has rejected the devils intentions to be addicted to alcohol and cigarettes etc which can cause so much damage to health. I will pray for you all.
Can you help me with the reliable source 🙏. I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Germany. I don't know much about these mushrooms. Really need a reliable source!! Can't wait to get them
Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Never addictive. Thank you for sharing this point!
Traditionally water was added to scotch that are peated. Adding water to a peated scotch releases the oils in the malt making them stronger. Try some scotch 😎 Cool vid outside of your cocktail clips 👍
Thank you for a very informative video....I'm a cigar smoker and I always smoke and drink either cognac or brandy. I always being afraid of whiskey because I didn't know anything about it. Now, you just gave me a start to widen my selection!!!!!
Your videos sure do make me miss drinking. I haven’t had a drink in almost 12 years. It sucks that I don’t get to enjoy and appreciate grown up cocktails. I enjoy them vicariously thru you guys tho, so thanks for that. 😉🥃
Great and interesting video! I loved whiskey since my dad allowed me to taste it. And now I got a 700ml bottle of whiskey for my high school graduation from my dad. And here is an iteresting way that I found in the las couple of days. I put a mid sized glass in the freezer with just a little bit of water on the bottom be carefull as too much water can explode the glass if left for a fiew hours. Now I leave it in untill it turns into a thin layer of ice. Then I poor about 1/4 of the glass with room temperature whiskey. Smell wise it's like you are hit in the face with it very intense and it doesn't water it down but has the cooling properties of a big ice cube. I suggest it to everybody to try.
One thing worth mentioning is that the character or brand of whiskey helps dictate style. If the bourbon is caramel or toffee forward, it does much better warm or neat. If it’s smokey, some ice might fit. There are also good whiskies that need a water dropper. Baby bourbons behave differently in a glass than more mature ones. I know a distiller that has basically a shot of bourbon before having a more refined glass of neat mature bourbon. His theory is to awaken the bitter and sweet taste buds and to trick his brain a bit. Then when he sips his drink it brings out the deeper notes that are often missed like sweet corn and sometimes sweet floral notes.
The last sip stayed across your father's throat for a while lol. Thank you for this quick informative video, always good to be reminded. No cola guys ffs... love your content and chemistry on screen, cheers
Question 🙋♂️ how did your dad become so knowledgeable about so many things that we younger men lack in today’s society. I want to hear a story time on what it was like growing up for him.
Sooo wonderful! I'm one who prefers 'neat' and also it cannot be chilled at all (or in my estimation it loses certain aspects or they're too muted). Dad tastes with his lip exactly like me! I'm delighted! This was absolutely fantastic!
I started watching you tik toks and really enjoy, now I have found your TH-cam channel and you guys are great. You really take consuming alcoholic beverages to another level and add so much class to it, thank you.

I’m 29 .. I’ve never drank a day in my life and most likely I never will .. but I thoroughly enjoy watching y’all’s content haha makes me wanna get a bar in my house for guest.
I knew a man who would always have a thread with his scotch and it was never more than a single drop of water. He could tell if there was any more than a drop and if there was no thread at all. Personally I have single malts neat, blended with a single cube and Bourbon with two, as a rule of thumb but there's ways the exceptions. Keep up the good work, love the videos. You're doing a grand job of it.
@johnny Drinks I just want to say man the relationship of you and father is so beautiful, I lost my father 27th of November this year. Please keep up the videos man and please keep that bond with your dad me and my dad we’re close as f**k, cherish it
Man, you're selling this shit. I'm not of drinking age here in the uk, of course ive had a bottled beer here or there, but never have i had a proper drink like any of these. watching these sorts of videos are giving me something to look forward too
I love how it wasn’t staged and the son wasn’t like “Yeah that is SOOO different.” It means you can trust what they are saying and you that if it’s similar, it’s similar and if it’s different, it’s different.
As a bartender I normally have beef with some of these videos but as a beginner video I think this is great. Maybe also go into more depth on how to expand and train your pallet through smelling techniques as well as more tasting techniques. Waiting for the wine series now!!
you guys are the best. I was in Jersey today checking out some neighborhoods. Walk into a pizza store and bam!!! Johnny drinks at the counter talking to the guy behind counter. Looking back I wish I said hi. Great channel.
As a Scot…the best way to drink whisky is with water and no ice. Ice suppresses the aromas, water releases the flavour and takes the raw edge off. But…you can drink it anyway you want if you enjoy it. Just don’t let me see it 🤨
Great video! Not what I expected but, very sincere and well done! Love the ending! I have a nice well stocked bar in my home along with a generous supply of wine in my wine temperature controlled fridge. I NEVER EVER disparage anyone for what they prefer to drink and how they like it served and/or prepared. I have everything from cheap to expensive. Only thing I might do is introduce my guest to perhaps a more "quality" choice. I put that in quotes because what you enjoy is more important to any other criteria. Some thank me for a great new experience and others prefer to stay where they were. BTW, I don't tell them the price or history of the drink, unless they ask. I also find that it is also true for my own personal experience. I enjoy gin, for example, and have had everything from cheap to very expensive. As it turns out my favorite is Hendrix (I like the gin taste over too much floral). I just use this as an example--one more. My brother in-law loves Crown Royal--when we share a drink I often have something much nicer (IMHO) but, I never tell him what I'm drinking. I did share with him the many fine whiskeys but, he loves his Crown Royal. The best drink in my bar is having what you prefer and I pretty much have it all. Long post but, I hope someone takes the time tor read it. Enjoy a drink and share a drink and of course drink responsibly--it's way more fun than getting drunk! Don't be an alcohol snob! Be like this father and son. NOTE: Dad didn't share the brand/quality of the drink until his son asked. Well done!
Love all your stuff so far! Coolest moments are when dad taps the bottles with his ring. Love it every time. Is that just a style thing or is there some deeper reason?

I love how I'm 15 and have parents who dont drink at all, yet I watch these videos for fun. Ur guys videos are entertaining.
Thank you!!
I started watching you tik toks and really enjoy, now I have found your TH-cam channel and you guys are great. You really take consuming alcoholic beverages to another level and add so much class to it, thank you.
Much appreciated man!
I love Irish Whiskey neat, but I love that the conclusion is that the best way is the way you enjoy it the most.
Tapping the bottle and glasses with his ring is satisfying for some reason ...great videos gentlemen 👍
I appreciate a connoisseur, but I drink my whiskey in a paper cup from zaxbys.
I guess alcoholics aren’t too savvy.
I drink my whiskey while snorting crack while eating a ham sammich and reading The morning paper
@@Elite_Employee you really can't snort crack it's not water soluble it would just clog your nose up 😁
@@joeyjohnson4826 no shit bro I was just trolling👽
I drink it in a paper cup
This is probably one of the best new channels out there. Super informative and entertaining. Keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see more from you two!
love to hear that man! cheers
I’m 29 .. I’ve never drank a day in my life and most likely I never will .. but I thoroughly enjoy watching y’all’s content haha makes me wanna get a bar in my house for guest.
haha thanks!
Every part of these are classy. Music, atmosphere, setting, Dad… love it
I knew a man who would always have a thread with his scotch and it was never more than a single drop of water. He could tell if there was any more than a drop and if there was no thread at all.
Personally I have single malts neat, blended with a single cube and Bourbon with two, as a rule of thumb but there's ways the exceptions.
Keep up the good work, love the videos. You're doing a grand job of it.
I literally come to see these video's because of this man's class and knowledge on the drinks he consumes not just pounds them back like Neanderthals
🥂
Never fails to have an amazing video, fire as always!
thank you bro!
Thank you for the long form content lads!!!
Thanks for watching!
What’s your favorite way to enjoy whiskey? 🥃
Old fashioned or a sour
free
Neat in a glencarin
Coke
A bottle at a time😉
As a bartender I normally have beef with some of these videos but as a beginner video I think this is great. Maybe also go into more depth on how to expand and train your pallet through smelling techniques as well as more tasting techniques. Waiting for the wine series now!!
Thanks for watching! That’s a great idea
Probably the best whiskey drinking video ever made. 💯
I used to drink jack and coke a lot and moved to whiskey on ice and now completely neat i really enjoyed it!
I Like the way the son is always countering his dads claims that way we know its not BS
Gotta keep it real
Teaching a young man how to drink responsibly should be something every father needs to do.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
dude. I love this relationship. omfg.
I love you.
Best thing I watched all week. Thanks guys!
you guys are the best. I was in Jersey today checking out some neighborhoods. Walk into a pizza store and bam!!! Johnny drinks at the counter talking to the guy behind counter. Looking back I wish I said hi. Great channel.
Just fyi when he says water it’s sounds like wooder because everyone around Philly says it that way too
were from north jersey!
And thats waudder....Jersey strong
As a Scot…the best way to drink whisky is with water and no ice. Ice suppresses the aromas, water releases the flavour and takes the raw edge off.
But…you can drink it anyway you want if you enjoy it. Just don’t let me see it 🤨
I found your channel just at the right time . I gave began getting into good whiskey, rum, tequila and bourbon
Dad: 'Heres the 178th way to prepare bourbon, taste it"
Son: "Subtle Difference" lolll
Tapping every glass with his ringed finger is the most Dad thing he does 😂
He's " blessin' " that shit.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mr Drinks
I have now officially stop drinking beer
Now is all Johnny drinks
Thank you
I like the father son moment amazing
💪🏽💯 you have fans down in Edinburg Texas
The tapping of the ring on the bottles has become quite satisfying.
You guys should a top 5 favorite drinks, but for the whole family. See what is in your top five, your dad's, I know your mom doesn't drink, but she can still do her favorite drinks!
Maybe take the top drinks of each and put it in a poll and see what the populous likes?
That’s a great idea
@@JohnnyDrinks keep it up, you guys are awesome and your videos are the best! Cheers!
Bravo guys! Bring on more of the long format videos 🤙🏻
You got it!
Sippin an old fashioned literally as this started playing😂🥃
love that!
I'll do 6 Jack & cokes.
1 joint to knock me down.
2 lines of coke to boost me back up.
1 cialis for blood circulation.
Cialis for the win
I can honestly say I love watching your videos.
The first time I drank whiskey was out of an old McDonald's Shrek glass. Fun memory
