Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. You weren't wrong about the Kami Band and their costumes. They are BABYMETAL's backing band for all live shows and performances since March 2014 and for a few festivals and the encores in a few shows since October 2012.
They are among the very best session musicians to be found in Japan and they can play anything. There have been many Kami Band members, but the hard core of about 6 have been constant throughout.
In this video they were Mikio Fujioka (RIP January 2018) and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums).
Kami means god or spirit, so in BABYMETAL lore they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL in the Metal Resistance against pop and idol music which was all but monopolising all music air time in Japan when they were formed in 2010.
As such they wore the corpse face paint and traditional white burial robes.
At the end of 2017 the robes were replaced with black ones and since the start of 2019 the corpse paint has been replaced by masks.
For the lengthy US tour of 2019 and the UK and European tour of 2020 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) provided the support for BABYMETAL.
I'm impressed you noticed the quality of Su-metal's vocals so quickly - this song is one that really doesn't show that off as well as most. The whole concept for BABYMETAL (fusing metal with JPop aesthetics) was formed and developed around her vocal talents and stage presence - even though she was still only 12 when they formed in 2010.
The more you watch the more you will appreciate both her power and her versatility since BABYMETAL cover so many different musical styles and genres and she seems to master whatever is thrown her way seemingly effortlessly at the first attempt every time.
Yuimetal and Moametal, providing backing vocals and leading the choreo, are equally important in making BABYMETAL the unique and special band they are. They lead the crowd, get everybody involved and joining in, becoming part of the performance.
Sadly Yui left the band in October 2018 for undisclosed health reasons. She last performed 12 months before that in October 2017. Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo and from 2019 through 2021 they were supported by 3 girls (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) who would take turns dancing - but not singing - in the third spot.
'Catch Me If You Can' is the best metal song about playing a game that's a sort of cross between tag, blind man's bluff and hide & seek I've ever heard. It is the perfect mix of the two extremes with the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals - and the game they are playing, they're playing with an Oni (a sort of Japanese ogre) - or the "tagger" is pretending to be an Oni at least.
The growling vocals (they are on a backing track) are the Oni asking things like "Are you ready?" and the best response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance.
I think you have plenty of good recommendations for more reactions already, so I won't add to them - yet.

Most brutal song about hide and seek/tag.
You have just witnessed the creators of Kawaii Metal (Cute Metal). A mixture of JPop and Metal. Almost every song in their repitoire of 50 songs are different mixtures of genres with Metal. A fresh new vision of metal. I was bored of metal which I loved since the 80s and who would have thought that metal can be happy and danced to.
There is much to be said about BABYMETAL, but I will leave it to the experts that will be here soon.
I hope you react to more BABYMETAL. Remember this though and that is live is best. BABYMETAL has a few excellent MVs but they excel in their live performances.
A nice BABYMETAL starting point is Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! Live Legend 1997
(The 1997 refers to Su-Metal (lead singer) birth year. She just turned 16 the day before that concert.

Welcome to the fox hole. BABYMETAL is definitely a unique group. They are istrd as kawaii (cute) metal but their songs are all over the spectrum. From hard to beautiful ballads to what sounds like it could be in a bollywood movie to rap. I'm just waiting for metal-country 😆

Welcome to the Foxhole! Babymetal are a Japanese metal fusion band formed in 2010. Su (lead singer) Yui (the one with the cute chubby cheeks and who left the band in 2018 for health reasons) and Moa (the one with the dimples) are the original three members. But since Yui left the lineup has been Su, Moa, and Momoko at their most recent shows last year (as of right now babymetal are on hiatus) because in 2020 due to covi they couldn't celebrate their 10 year anniversary. But my recommendations are headbanger live at legend 1997 (which is in reference to Su turning 16 the day before), From Dusk Till Dawn live, BxMxC live, Road Of Resistance live, Megitsune live, Ijime Dame Zettai (live at sonnisphere 2014).

This is a really nice compilation video from the "Five Fox Festivals" (Black, Gold and White for visuals and Black for audio). It was a series of five theme concerts in 2017 ending with the "Big Fox Festival". It's rare to see it on reaction videos, so... well done!
Here you have just a glimpse of Su-metal's vocals... Just to mention that her performing skills (singing voice, stage presence, etc.) are the main reason why BABYMETAL was formed. You are gonna love her :)

After having been a fan for almost five years now, I still totally agree that it’s strange how well it works. BABYMETAL are a mystery and phenomenon in many ways. In my personal ranking, this song only makes it to about the middle. If you try more of their songs, you‘ll find that they can do even better in most respects (maybe with the exception of choreography).
But one of the great things about BABYMETAL is that all of their songs are so different, that every fan has a totally different ranking. There’s something for every taste and every mood.

    I'm Japanese .
There is no singer who has both beauty and good singing like Su-Metal (the lead singer of Babymetal) 'in Japan' , I think .
She is 24years old now . She belongs to the biggest entertainment company in Japan and is a singer and talent from when a child .
The three girls style (concept) is that Su-Metal is accompanied by two angels. In fact , the two girls acted an angel in Japanese CM for Japanese the biggest telephone company with Ichiro who was famous Major league baseball player .

Welcome to Babymetal's "foxhole" and nice first reaction. Babymetal are an expression of kawaii (cute) culture brilliantly integrated with heavy metal by their producer Kei Kobayashi. The project started over a decade ago (and long before that in Kobayashi's mind) and grew out of a school themed j-pop idol group called Sakura Gakuin. Babymetal became so successful that they spun off and now have a large following across the world. BM is made up of the lead singer Suzuka Nakamoto and Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi. Their backing band are callled The Kami Band. Others will no doubt be along to give you more detail...trust me there's a lot of it.
I love that you reacted to the Fox Festival version of this song as it is usually a ways down the recommended list. The concerts were interesting as they had audience restrictions. For example, one concert was "female only" and that produced a wonderful atmosphere for many of the songs.
The Kami Band intro here is awesome - and yes the band look like something from a Japanese horror movie because "Kami" means spirit and they are dressed as spirits of the dead or ghosts.
Now to the song. "Catch Me If You Can" is about a Japanese playground game where the tagger is called the "oni-san" and asks if the kids are ready and Yui and Moa answer "no not yet" and they mime running and hiding in the dance. Oni are Japanese ogres or trolls that are sometimes used to scare young children into being good. Another interesting cultural reference in the lyrics is to it being dangerous "to go out in red shoes" which refers to a Japanese children's poem where a young girl wearing red shoes is taken away from her parents by foreigners. It was written in the early 20th century and probably expresses fear of the outsider and strangers.
I suggest you react to "Road of Resistance Live in Japan" or "Headbanger Legend 1997" next.

    4. Cory Taylor of Slipknot was asked who he listened to at home and he said "BabyMetal"
    5. They performed their most famous song Gimme Chocolate with The Red Hot Chili Peppers
    6. They performed Gimme Chocolate with Dragon Force
    7. Brien Welch of Korn got on stage to perform Gimme Chocolate with them.
    8. They performed the Judas Priest classics Pain Killer and Breaking the Law with Rob Halford of Judas Priest
    9. Two of their songs GImme Chocolate and Road of Resistance have been named as the one of the most important metal songs of the last 10 years
10.The three girls, Su Metal, MoaMetal and YuiMetal were named in the list of Women Who Have Changed The Face of Metal In the Last 20 Years

You also forgot a couple others: When they opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers, they appreciated the girls opening for them so much that the last night they were Chad Smith brought out a cake to help celebrate Su's birthday the next day. I've never heard of that happening for anyone else. Lastly, Rob Zombie had an interaction where people were scoffing at him liking BABYMETAL and he responded with "They rock harder than you!" A huge endorsement.

This band is really incredible and unique. They are very adorable and talented. The musicians defenitly back it up as well. The lead singer, Suzuka is a very great singer but this song doesn’t really display her vocals that well cause this song is more of a fun song. I really recommend Akatsuki and Rondo of nightmare if you want to hear the best of her vocal capability. Great video, babymetal has a lot of crazy songs and all the members are wonderful people. Wow, loved the joy on your face when you saw the girls. ^_^ Definitely would like to see more BM reactions from you; I'll second the suggestions for Headbanger live at Legend 1997 and Road of Resistance live in Japan, though with the latter watch out for blocks. Most of the videos from their official channel except for the festival performances tend to get blocked, though thankfully you can usually circumvent it pretty easily by obscuring the video in post.
One extra suggestion if you're going to do Headbanger: that was the third-to-last song and the Legend 1997 show in 2013 for the lead singer Su's 16th birthday. The next two songs were Akatsuki (Unfinished ver.) and Babymetal Death, and together those three songs form one incredible rollercoaster of a finale. I would highly recommend watching all three together if you can stand it. :) I'll leave links to good uploads of each on in a reply to this comment (since links often get parent comments removed). Cheers!

They have opened for a number of metal bands like Metallica and Judas Priest.
Lady Gaga even had them at a few of her shows (she likes metal music). Corey Taylor of Slipknot is a big fan of theirs. The band arguably exists because of the lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto). A producer at Amuse, Kei Kobayashi, had the idea of fusing metal and j-pop, in her he found the the type of singer he needed, a powerful voice with great stage presence at a young age. And she is a versatile singer. Ranging from Indian vocal style in "Shanti Shanti Shanti" to rap in "BxMxC". They are the Japanese band with the most international success ever.

Side vocals and dancing: Yui Mizuno(Chubby-cheeked girl) and Moa Kikuchi(dimpled-cheeked girl who smiles a lot).
    Dancing/Singing with Babymetal since 11yo.
They are a year and a half younger than Suzuka. From early childhood, they loved to dance, and received good dance training. They are very good friends in real life since early childhood. They came to the idol show together because they were fans of Karen Girls (the band that Suzuka used to sing in).
They can also sing, although their singing skill is far from Suzuki's.
There are 4 songs in the Babymetal repertoire, where the girls perform without Suzuki, together. Here are the songs:
(Moa and Yui duo called "Black Babymetal")
    GJ
    Sis Anger
    onedari daisakusen
    4 no Uta
In contrast, there are 4 songs where Suzuka sings solo, without the girls. These are ballads:
    Amore
    Akatsuki
    Rondo Of Nightmare
    No Rain No Rainbow
This is done so that during long concerts they take turns resting while others sing.
Also, during concerts dedicated to the girls' birthdays, they gave solo performances, and even acted as lead vocals in the Headbanger song.
For example, Moa performed the song Love Mashine at the Legend 1999 concert .
Unfortunately, at the end of 2017, Yui Mizuno stopped performing due to health issues, and then officially left the band. Later she was replaced by dancers who, however, did not sing. The Big Fox Festival in 2017 was Yui's last public performance.

Babymetal is the gateway drug to metal music... They were created to bring a fresh air to the metal scene and get more young girls interested in metal music....If you look at this song as part of a journey, it would seem less confusing.... I read somewhere that Kobametal the creator of Babymetal, wanted the girls to have a more exploratory experience into metal, so that's why their early songs like iine, Doki Doki, catch me if you can and Gimme Chocolate has such a stronger Jpop feel, since that's what they were more used to and comfortable with... But if you listen to their songs as they progress, it becomes less and less poppy and have a stronger metal/rock music element, because the girls themselves are getting more comforable with the metal genre and it's different aspects. ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏃‍♀👹
My only reservation about introducing someone to BABYMETAL with this song, is that it's quite a while before the lead singer, Su-metal, even starts singing.
It's a lot more clear in some of their other songs how good Su's voice is.
Of course that can be easily fixed by watching more BABYMETAL. : )
And it came through for you.
This cute song is about playing a game that is kind of like hide-and-go-seek, with some tag and blind-man's bluff mixed in.
Pursued by an "Oni"" which is a kind of Japanese Ogre.
If not a real monster, than at least someone pretending to be one in order to terrify children into behaving.
Fun times! Kawaii Metal! : )
If much of their charm is in the blending of the cute and the brutal, this song is a great example.
While 'Megitsune' is still my favorite, this has one of the cutest choreographies.
They performed this song quite a bit in 2017, but not since.
The last time I saw this one was in Chula Vista, California when they were on tour opening for Korn.

The song is about "Kakurenbo" (hide-and-seek). Except they are playing it against an "Oni" (mythical japanese ogre).
The Oni is saying "mooo ikai?" (Are you ready?). They girls reply "mada da yo!" (not yet!).
Then they girls tease the Oni by saying "oni-san kochira!" (here Mr. Oni!) and "te no naru ho e..." (follow my clap).
Then they playfully run away from the Oni during the chorus "guru-guru kakurenbo 🎶" (round-and-round hide-and-seek).

You have not even scratched the surface of what this band does. This song is just one aspect that actually represents their early years. Here, the lead singer is 19, the other girls 17, and they had already been together as Babymetal for 6 years. I would encourage you to keep on a Babymetal journey. Try "Headbanger Legend 1997", which was recorded in 2013 at Su's 16th birthday concert. Then try Road of Resistance Live in Japan, which was recorded in 2015 (a year before this video), before getting into the current era with songs like PaPaYa!, BxMxC, Starlight, and Shine. Babymetal is first and foremost a live act so I would encourage you to view live videos vs music videos.

    Lead vocal - Suzuka Nakamoto.
Singer since 8 years old. She sang in theatrical musicals, participated in 2 j-pop groups before Babymetal. Duet with her older sister "Tween" and trio "Karen Girls". Has been singing in Babymetal since the age of 13.
Despite her age, she already had a powerful and stable voice. She loves to sing, and since childhood she dreamed of becoming a singer. Therefore, she gives all of herself to singing, and according to her, this is the meaning of her life, and all she has is singing.
It was her voice that inspired the creation of Babymetal.
The future babymetal producer dreamed of creating a metal band. And when he heard Suzuka sing, a strange idea came to his mind - to create a heavy metal band with children's vocals. No girl at that age would have coped with such a task. But when he heard Suzuka, he realized that it was possible with her.
And he was not wrong. She did even better than anyone expected. Over time, she got even better. And even in 2016 received the status of Rock Goddess of the Year. (outside Japan, global scale). Also she OFFICIALLY top-1 Japan Idol voice.
So don't underestimate this girl, she is actually one of the top female singers in Japan. And on a global scale, she looks good.
She can sing everything. Look. She singing JUDAS PRIEST songs!
    th-cam.com/video/ZJu4uRoN9ps/w-d-xo.html
also you can hear quite complex vocals in many of the songs. For example Shanti Shanti. Mix of metal and Indian music.

some people reproached me for not telling the whole backstory of Babymetal.
    So. How it all began.
In Japan, there are many different talent agencies, the so-called Idol Shows. One of them was the Sakura Gakuin show.
It was attended by girls from 10 to 15 years old. In fact, this topic is very popular in Japan, and parents are happy to send their children to such shows, as this is a direct path to further show business.
Naturally, they don't take everyone there. You need to pass the entrance exam and show that the girl has talent. Moa and Yui took an exam in the form of dancing to the song of Karen Girls "Over the future" and they were immediately accepted, in 2009. For their 10yo, they knew how to dance very well. Just like older girls.
Original Karen Girls song (Suzuka was youngest Karen Girls member) - th-cam.com/video/otn2UB-Q7Pw/w-d-xo.html
(You can recognize Suzuka by a mole on her lip :) ) She was 11yo at moment of music video.

(Suzuka wear white T-shirt with yellow print)
In Sakura Gakuin, there were many sub-groups with different themes. Later, in 2010, Babymetal formed as a sub-group on Idol Show Sakura Gakuin.
No one knew then how far it would go. The idea was very unusual and no one had done this before. At first, there were even disputes about whether it was right to involve 11-13 year old girls in metal culture, with its aggressive music.
Very first Babymetal performance. (2010) Moa and Yui - 11yo. Suzuka - 13 yo.
    th-cam.com/video/C-r4bajuu9Y/w-d-xo.html
But surprisingly, the sub-group began to quickly gain popularity, and by 2012 even went beyond Japan. In 2012, the first overseas tour in the life of girls took place. They performed in Singapore. It became clear that Babymetal had become even bigger than the show itself that gave birth to them. And it was decided to separate it into an independent project.
    Babymetal Singapore documentary. (2012) th-cam.com/video/cm3KE0qBTsU/w-d-xo.html
Since then, the band's activity has been tumultuous. New songs appeared, and at some point they were even able to afford live musicians on stage. (previously they sang to pre-recorded music). So in the life of the band there was a qualitative leap when Kami-Band joined them. This is a session band of first-class musicians, which, although not Babymetal, accompanied them for all 11 years. So in the hearts of Babymetal and Kami Band fans, they are one.
PS: I hope you will be satisfied with the quality of the information now. I wrote it on the go. :)

Personally I would say the nuances are different, talent agencies don't all have idol shows. Other idol groups, etc. do exists, but Sakura Gakuin isn't a real idol show, it's actually a teaching tool. They take their most talented girls and through being part of SG they teach them: singing, dancing, acting, doing interviews, modeling, photo shoots, public speaking, hosting a TV program, etc. Anything which can help develop their talents and find new talents for their career after SG. SG didn't exist to make money, just enough to make sure it doesn't have a cost.

Nice reaction. It work's. Couldn't have been said better. Babymetal live by a motto of ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH BABYMETAL. They have some amazing accomplishments. They started in Babymetal when Su-metal was 12 and Yuimetal and Moametal were 10. I think in this video they were around 15 and 13 years old. Today they're over 20. Babymetal has been around for over a decade now. With three albums and the 3rd album is double. They are the starters of Kawaii Metal. Yup a fusion of JPOP and Metal but it's much more than that. Because if it sounds to much like one genre then it's not a Babymetal song. They have found a unique way of blending multiple musical styles all at once. And it's not just the music that's a blend of styles but dances as well. Babymetal was made for the stage. They do choreography for every song. And they always give maximum effort. For them it doesn't matter if they're performing in the mall or Infront of thousands. They did perform in the mall in Japan when they started out. The next time you hear someone singing in the mall you may want to take more time listening. The next time you hear them you may find the tickets are sold out. lol. Enjoy your journey through the Babymetal galaxy of music.

The idea of Babymetal is idiotic and can't work.
But their talent and execution is so good they make it work ! That's kind of how I see it. 🙂
And I'm so glad you saw the talent as well.
You are right, before Babymetal it was never done before. But Babymetal has also been around for over 10 years now and are even the biggest current export in music from Japan to the west.
They've been overseas and in the west since 2014. First album, second album and third album in the US Billboard charts (and those of other countries of course, but US is harder because of the language barrier) and higher every time and breaking records. The third album hit #1 in the rock/metal charts and this has never happened for anyone from Asia.
And they were also youngest girls act to ever perform at the Budokan in Japan (think of it as the 'Madison Square Garden' of Japan).
Because Babymetal started over 10 years ago, when they were 11 and 12. The leadsinger is the core/middle/vocal point everything is build around.
And to be more specific about what I mentioned before, her singing fits the metal music, it almost sits on top of the brutal music and a higher register.
    Yep, Babymetal is unique.

Just a quick warning since it looks like you plan to react to more BabyMetal: their record label Amuse tend to block quite a lot, and they are pretty consistent, so we pretty much know which videos are safe and which are not.
If you go to their official channel, the MV for "Megitsune", "Gimme Chocolate", "Karate", "Road of Resistance" live in Japan, "No Rain No Rainbow" live at Legend S and "The One - Stairway to Living Legends" are NOT safe. All the other MV in there are safe!
If you still want to check a video that isn't safe, I suggest you to at least decrease the video opacity/transparency or to put a transparent logo on top, so it should become safe!
It should also be noted that their live performances from 2015 and later are not safe, so for those you will often find compilation videos (like this one that you watched) that are usually safe! But for performances from 2014 or earlier they are perfectly safe and so for songs from the 1st album the best way to go is to check a performance from the Legend 1997 show in 2013 or the Budokan show in 2014, since they are the 2 best ones that are also safe :D
If you have any question, you can ask and we will be happy to answer it!
PS: i want to congratulate you since you got so many things right on the first listen! THeir entire concept is indeed the fusion of cute (Kawaii) and Metal :D
That's why you will find songs that go more towards the metal part, and others that go the other way!

I dunno.... Megitsune I'd agree the MV is better than most of the live stuff (really can't top that pig squeal).... But I'd take karate from download 2016, over the MV any day. And BxMxC....Legend Metal Galaxy was nice, but I loved the Brussels fancam better than the MV. But they're all good to watch. 😁🤘🦊🤘

Omg dude welcome. It just gets better from here. This is filler. And no, it had never been done before and hasn't been reproduced. It's unique. I'm subscribing just to see the next one!

Babymetal is awesome, just awesome. If you want to check out another up and coming Japanese guitarist, take a look at Dawn by Asterism with Hal-Ca on guitar.

The one linked above is a compilation video kind of like the one you just watched where it stitches together clips from multiple shows to get around copyright blocks, but A) it's not as well done as the one you watched, and B) the one I linked is an excellent performance of the song that is copyright-safe anyway :)
