Great reaction again. This was at the Saitama Super Arena in January 2015 with a crowd of over 20,000 and every one of them completely under the control of three 5 feet nothing girls - Su was only just 17, Yui and Moa still only 15. Herman Li and Sam Totman from British power metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song and played on the studio recording for the album version. This was the Kami Band's interpretation of the instrumentals. The song is about forging your own road, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been explored you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
DragonForce helped with writing this song for them, they also brought the girls out to play with the band on one of the side stages (video here on YT)at the Download Festival in 2015 when festival organizer's vowed that they would never allow them to play there, but because they were so well received by the audience the very next year Babymetal was playing on the main stage. Also tomorrow April 1st is Fox Day traditionally when Babymetal announces future plans for the band, hopefully we get some good news 🤞
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏴 🏴 🏴 "Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) - Pretty much a master class in audience control. BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song. You can definitely feel the speed metal in this one though. Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce provided guitar tracks for the studio version. This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in January of 2015, with a sold out crowd of over 20,000. BABYMETAL's lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto first appeared at SSA in 2008 as a member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old. She's been back many times since, headlining with BABYMETAL. Guitarists that night were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus. The bassist was BOH, and the drummer was Hideki Aoyama. Hideki's father and brother were also drummers, so it's kind of in his blood.
Other reactors have pointed it out but when the lead singer "slows" the crowd at the end it's surely because the whole production (band, girls, lights, backing track, pyro) is working to a click track and so she had to get them back on time so when the band came back in it would all flow. It seems really impressive to me that she had the presence of mind at that age to do that, to be like "ok 20,000 people: we're going to TURN LEFT NOW" and have it work out.

Thank you for reacting ! Nice touch with the Babymetal posters on the wall ! Never apologize for playing Babymetal loud. :-) When the Kami band got started it was literally said: "don't hold back, play it loud." They love this gig. Maybe their favorite gig of all the work they do. Babymetal shows are just something special. They have more than just stage presence, I would say the stage is their home. We are guests in their home. What the words 'own the stage' seems to be invented for. This was actually their biggest own show, 20 000, but Babymetal had performed twice in the UK at a festival with bigger crowds, possibly 3x times as big. The guitar parts of this song are actually written by Sam Totman and Herman Li from Dragonforce. It's clearly a very much intended to be a Dragonforce-like song .🙂 What you saw at the start is a little girl signaling a 'wall of death' where everything runs into each other in the center. The more organized moshpit you saw is called a 'circle pit'. For many it even goes further than chills. You will find grown men cry of happiness at a live Babymetal show. It's just part of the experience of a Babymetal show, the full show is very immersive. Many who have seen great bands of the past and today have said Babymetal is the best they've ever seen live. My request for next time would be the one of their earliest earliest or most recent releases , to show yet an other side of Babymetal: Babymetal iine MV or the video on TH-cam: "BABYMETAL // BxMxC"
Their biggest own show were actually the Tokyo Dome shows in 2016 with 55.000 fans attending each of the two nights :) But you are right, the biggest show/festival they played was in front of 60.000 people.
Great reaction yet again. Thank you for continuing with the Babymetal reactions. We all had this feeling of why are we so drawn to this group. I for one am drawn to the total dedication of the young girls going 200% on every song when I would be dead after half a song and the crowd participation is holy crap. The cardio alone sheesh. The music behind them is so well sound engineered especially for a live show, props to them. The balance of the songs musically, it's sometimes hard to hear the individual skill behind the layers. The Kami band is ridiculously talented. The Cream always rises to the top! I guess when you merge one of the best female vocals that can pierce though heavy metal songs, with a group of session musicians that are the best in their field with an amazing production team and on point lyrics. They hit everything that everyone likes somewhere. They are just that good at all aspects of a concert and music video production, they appeal to everyone at some level, other than the heavy metal gatekeepers who don't get it. Kawii Metal (cute metal) designed to bring in a whole new generation of music enthusiasts into Heavy metal and appeal to the old farts too. Great reaction, thanks! This was the final encore from a 90+ minutes concert, entirely performed with this level of energy, which is crazy! Su still remembers that moment when they walked across the bridge with the crowd singing along as one of her favorite moments on stage. The Kami Band also killed it. Ohmura's picking is really amazing.
Yes, the chills! This is my favorite musical performance right now. Three points that really stand out and make this even more epic. Age. Su has just turned 17 less than 3 weeks prior to this show. Yui and Moa were only 15. Their stage presence and crowd control are unrivaled for almost all bands, but then consider their young age and you realize how talented they are! Crowd control/crowd interaction. This was only the 3rd time RoR was performed live (this was the first major performance of the song in Japan), and it wasn't released as a single or in an album yet. Inspite of that they were able to get and keep the crowd into it, like they had heard it dozens of times before! Energy/stamina. This was the final song of a multi song (5, I think?) encore, capping off a >90 high energy show. They had to be exhausted, but they didn't let that prevent them from delivering this absolute banger! Their maturity and dedication to delivering the best show to their fans is laudable.
Nice reaction. You should check out some of Su-metal's solo songs. My fav are Akatsuki (Budokan black night version) and No Rain No Rainbow (Legend S/Baptism XX version as she shows so much emotion to the point her eyes start to well up and her voice wavers towards the end). Or if you want a full on mix up of multiple styles in a single song, Tale of the Destinies is great, and has only ever been performed live once in Babymetal's 10 years career.
This version of ROR i always think of as the best the exhilaration the goosebumps, the tears of pride for them and pure joy . Who else can give you all that in one performance I think i could see the same in your reaction welcome to the One 😁. In a large venue the timing will necessarily drift. Hard to compete with distance delay and echoes. But as Rick says, Su- knows her business and handles it with ease and grace.
I've watched all your Babymetal reacts, and in this one I noticed the babymetal posters in the background lol loved the reactions. I like this performance, and imagine seeing them live would be amazing. The way she parts the crowd and later comes in and gets the audience back on the timing. Everything is so good with this group. If you're going to do another reaction to them I'd suggest BxMxC live or MV it's awesome and Su raps
Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. In their latest world tours in USA, Europe and Asia in 2019 and 2020 (before COVID) crowd chanted similarly in 14 countries. In your video, Su shouted some words 07:00 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then. Last year (2021), on the final day (April 15) of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts, Su shouted the same words in the end-all of the show. She did it smilingly with matured, mild and friendly voice. It meant, I believe, "come on guys!" The audience smiled her back. I was there at the venue ヽ(^o^)丿
Fun fact, at th-cam.com/video/4wNbrcj-C_0/w-d-xo.html Su had to jump in and correct the crowd chant via the clicktrack in her earpiece, otherwise the whole timing of the song would have been thrown off, such pressure for a 17yr old 😬
If you ever want to do a double shot of BabyMetal and since you like Su's voice, react to Akatsuki the unfinished version and the live version They are different enough it wont seem repetitive btw both are amazing

It only took 3 songs to get Babymetal posters on the wall, lol. That sounds about right, 3 songs and I bought the album and have been a fan ever since.
Circle pit 😊Su loves the circle pit. If you watch Distortion at Download festival I think it is. She calls for it. Since you did Rondo another one I like that shows her voice is No Rain No Rainbow any of them are great but I like the one from Hiroshima.
I’m also in love with Su-Metal’s voice. I appreciate the addition of the pictures behind you. You appear to be taking the express train down the fox hole and becoming a member of the One (fan base). I might recommend your react to song called The One, which is a tribute to their fans. If it’s not too personal, I noticed the new tribute guitar to Chester. Is there a story behind that?
We will check it out! Not too personal, it's not exactly new, maybe just not in any of the video's you've seen on the channel...just a massive fan of Chester, when he left, it sort of felt like music died, he is a massive inspiration to us. Thanks for Watching!
@@ndywbfri Thank you. I was also a big fan (RIP). Yes it’s just new to your BM videos. I’m fairly sure BM played at some of the same festivals in the UK before his passing. There are three versions of The One. A Japanese version, all English version, and Stairway to Living Legend. The last was posted just before they went on hiatus sealing the Metal Resistance. April 1st is Fox Day. They have previously used that date to introduce new material, or tours. Hopefully, the seal will be broken tomorrow and we’ll get an update. But Only The Fox God Knows. 🦊. PS - The Stairway version is a stripped down piano version and makes me tear up every time. What an incredible voice!
I always wonder what the drummer has on his tablet. My guess is that it's the volume levels on his drums. To make sure he isn't redlining. He seems very aware of that. But I'm not a musician so I'm probably wrong.
@@ndywbfri oh that's possible. I know they play to one. Every performance has exactly the same timing. That's why their lights are so cool. It's all programmed. But I thought they used a click track for that.
@@Jordan-Ramses i believe most drummers listen to a click/metronome and usually a mix of their other band mates. Fun fact (this doesn't apply to Babymetal) joey jordison didn't play to a click doing the first slipknot album which is kind of insane!
I think soon you should watch “everything you need to know about babymetal” it’s a guide video that talks about how babymetal got started and tells more about the girls. Its kind of a long video but It’s really helpful and informative and I think you’d enjoy getting to know them better
Now they have become very beautiful ladies, but at that time they were so kawaii girls. I also wanted to see YUI's growth. I looking forward to next Babymetal reaction.
Saw the new posters on the wall and was like that alone is worth the Sub hehe. These girls and the Kami Band are truly unique and amazing. 🤘🦊🤘 Oh so much more to see. Enjoy the journey into the Fox hole.
I love how Su-'s voice fills the venue. So powerful. Yeah, I know she has a mic and there are the backing track harmonies so she is singing with herself. But still... One can see how tired she is, yet still maintains that vocal power. A perfect example of Sakura Gakuin's tenent of perfect combustion. To use up all of one's gasoline by the end of the performance.
I cannot get enough Baby Metal, especially loud! And now I can't get enough of your reactions. I love that you love them and yeah, I got chills too. There's something hopeful and powerful in this song and performance.
Have you done the age thing yet? Look at crowds playing then at age. Ie Wembley Su 16. Moa and Yii 14. 1st download Su 15 and others 13. The UK 1s were start of big concerts aboad and especially Japan. But in Japan big from 12/13. Mindblowuing and to have control and DEATH STARE SO YOUMG )mao
NIce reaction! But, FYI BM can never be too loud. I think this is the quintessential BM song. I has it all; great riffs, amazing dancing, Su's voice and crowd interaction. In this concert Moa and Yui are 15 and Su is 17, so they are still kids, and I'm always surprised by how they can control a crowd of 20000 fans. Su has the advantage of a click track so she had to bring the crowd back into time. "Road of Resistance" is about fighting and resisting even if you can't see the way ahead and it reminds us that there are things worth fighting for - so it's an appropriate song for the times. It was the song that sold me on BM because I ended it as an emotional wreck. They take you from one pinnacle to another and just keep on going. But for me the real hero of this song is the drummer, Hideki Aoyama, I think this song averages over 200 BPM. I wonder what's the collective number of calories expended by BM and the Kami Band in this performance. The song has a strong "Dragonforce vibe" because Dragonforce's Li and Totman worked on it and play it on the album, but I like this live Kami Band version more. The concert has a great stage set up and the famous Yui leap over Moa during IDZ. At the end of the crowd "wows" I love the combination of the insanely fast guitar riff and the dance sequence that ends with the girls standing strongly and outlined by the lights, that's where I really get the chills. It shows how well the Babymetal team works to bring together music, singing, dancing and stage and lighting design. Next, maybe a Su solo like "Akatsuki - Budokan Black Night" or if you are adventurous "Tales of the Destinies".
Great reaction again. This was at the Saitama Super Arena in January 2015 with a crowd of over 20,000 and every one of them completely under the control of three 5 feet nothing girls - Su was only just 17, Yui and Moa still only 15.

Su-metal also has the power to be kowai 🙂 (her 'death stare' or 'death glare')

It ’s a queen ’s quality.
Superladies 🌸❤️
@@SAKURA-Times Some day we will see the grown up tomato princess as well.

I'm always knocked out by the queen's singing voice and the angel's smile lol
Saw the new posters on the wall and was like that alone is worth the Sub hehe. These girls and the Kami Band are truly unique and amazing. 🤘🦊🤘 Oh so much more to see. Enjoy the journey into the Fox hole.
there will be more posters...🤘🦊
They’re at their best live.
Herman Li helped.
I saw you have a genuine like for this group.
This is so great. See you.
The girls were 17 and 15 in this performance and they totally owned the crowd. SuMetal split that crowd like a little Japanese Moses.
Circle mosh is the first kind of moshing started in punk music.
I think they added that sing along part, just to give Hideki (the drummer) a break, otherwise his legs is gonna fly off....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤘🦊🤘
haha, the drummer works way too hard!
Next, maybe a Su solo like "Akatsuki - Budokan Black Night" or if you are adventurous "Tales of the Destinies".

subbed :)

Too loud??? Never loud enough with Babymetal. 🦊💥🦊
How old she is? She look like 10 but with 20 year old voice.
Dragon force helped write this song but Herman li (guitarist of dragonforce) has said in a twitch stream that the Kami Band plays it 10 times better
