I’m really looking forward to playing an SA-126. I’ve always kept a semi hollow in my stable; it’s a sound & feel you just can’t get out of anything else. A version made specifically for heavier music is an idea who’s time has definitely come. I also have a lot of respect for Wolfie, he’s doing his own thing & not resting on his dad’s legacy but building on it. He seems like a very humble, sweet guy as well.
The headstock is killer on the star... something I would normally hate is uber cool.
I didn’t like that headstock at first ( even though it’s almost exactly like Eddie’s original star guitar) I like the hockey stick end better myself but after seeing it a number of times now, I am starting to like the Dan Electro headstock a bit. I’m still kinda on the fence about it though 🤔😄 but I do like the army green paint job and the black stealth. The hockeystick style headstock should be an option as well. ( I believe it would help get more sales of that model and Eddie’s later versions had it so it’s not a bad thing to have that as an option. I have no doubt whatsoever that they will sound great with that bridge pickup and play extremely well with low string action etc, after all it’s an EVH ! But I’m sure there are lots of players out there that actually want and can afford it that would buy that model… But they just can’t get past the odd Dan Electro style headstocks. I guess there’s always a Solar model -X ! 😄 and they do look bad ass all around. I’m just happy the EVH line ( as well as Eddie’s legacy) continues with Wolfgang at the helm he will do very well I think and the new Mammoth album is quite impressive! Definitely a bit heavier than the first one was. First album was really good but the #2 WVH -Mammoth album is more to my personal taste and I can’t wait to try out the EVH semi- hollow when they are available 😊. Or a fender Stratocaster acoustosonic maybe ? 🤔 I already know I want an Ibanez ( Tim Henson ) TOD -10N ( nylon string ) I just love how they sound ! Very nice! happy Ibanez brought that model back and even made it a bit nicer looking now. I’m sure it always sounded great but now it looks the part as well. Someone I know just got one after waiting a fair bit for it on order, and says he absolutely loves playing it! I gotta say he truly does sound great playing it ! 🙂

I like the idea of a guitar that has the signature specs without the full-on signature look - like you said, it allows you to “feel like you’re playing [your] guitar, not Eddie’s.”
Same type of feeling I get when I play my BMG Arielle. You get the scale length and switching and pickups Brian May is known for, but you don’t feel like people are going to assume you only play Queen covers.
As a Danelectro fan and a fan of funky shaped guitars...Im loving the EVH Star. The Army Green is sick!

At 7:55 that's actually a discontinued Custom Shop model. But on top of the interest for the semi-hollow, the company has claimed they're looking into 24 fret versions of the Wolfgang and the 5150 series
I'm definitely interested in the semi-hollow. That will be in the cart and ready to check out as soon as it's available.
I feel like the "star" component of evh guitars is the pickups, particularly the bridge pickup. It's very harmonically rich and dynamic and it chugs effortlessly. Solos sound heavenly

I'm not blown away but good to see new stuff coming, would have been very easy to keep it the same and not have any new stuff, they are making an effort to keep interest up. i might be tempted by a MIJ Wolfgang if i ever actually get my hands on one, mostly pre-order in the UK which sucks.
EVH Guitars have a loooooooooong lead time, as Eddie believed he couldn't release a product until he had beaten the ever loving shit out of it on tour on the road, & Wolfgang has that same mentality for the SA126, the bass & the fixed bridge archtop.
He's said they're close, but I reckon once Mammoth are off the road from touring the sophomore album, we'll see these get announced for release. I hope it's sooner rather than later cos I def. want an SA126 & a bass.
I have always loved that Eddie did that with anything he ever put his name on ! He knew we would all be buying and playing the crap outa that gear ( just like he always did!) so he wanted to be damn sure it sounded great and was tough as a tank ! 😄 Road tested and battle worn scratched dented and generally beat to shit but still sounding primo ! He just demanded that out of his gear and especially when he put his name on it ! 🤟🏻😎🤟🏻 a lesser instrument or pc of gear just would never do !

- The EVH brand motto should be “ It has to be tough as a Tank ! “ all guitars and gear battle tested by the King Himself 👑🎸it will absolutely play and sound great no matter what ! Super Happy to see Wolfgang taking over and doing a great job of it as well 🤟🏻 the new Mammoth 2 album sounds amazing and is definitely a bit heavier than the first album. I really like the first one but the second album sounds even better and he is really starting to come into his own style and we are getting a good look at why Eddie was so proud of Wolfgang, he had every right to be ! He is an amazing musician in his own right ! and he’s doing his own thing ! I did really love watching and hearing him play the old VH guitar parts of Ed’s at the Taylor Hawkins tribute , absolutely killed it ! No question about it… 😊 Eddie was definitely smiling that trademark grin and looking on in spirit. 😊 I definitely want a Wolfgang model electric and one of those EVH semi-hollow bodies that Wolfgang ( signature model?) is playing recently when they do come out. I have huge respect for him and only want more ! Hell yeah ! Do that shit Brother! You Go 🐺 Wolfie !

On topic: EVH definitely seems to be having a bit of a renaissance era, and probably thanks to Wolfie's increasing popularity. I dunno if it's just me but it seems like they were a brand everyone kind of forgot about for a bit, and now they're making a big comeback.

The star is an awesome release with the dano headstock like Ed had ..the kill switch I could do without , would rather a replica of what Eddie built but still pretty cool
@agufish Just to let you know. All the guitars played by Mammoth WVH are prototypes except the white bound set neck with the 2 x volume, 2 x tone controls. That is an old EVH Wolfgang USA Custom that EVH no longer make. Sad as that would be closest to a LP double cut. Google them and take a look. A friend of mine has one and it’s an awesome guitar! Looking forward to all the next generation stuff coming to EVH. Keep up the good work! 🤘
I appreciate their dedication to the original EVH star guitar, but always hated that headstock. Really look forward to seeing some of the new Wolfie model in person. I've been a fan of the design since I first saw him with the prototype.
I recently picked up a 2010 MIJ Wolfgang special that had been sitting in a closet for years, the craftsmanship is truly amazing! However I also have a Wolfgang special from the Ensenada factory and the craftsmanship and attention to detail is astounding. Everything is clean on the inside, the fingerboard is rolled, it's just perfect. Now I'm sure all aren't but both my Ultras (Strat and Tele) have tons of finishing compound in them, the screws on the Tele were soldered correctly and the bone nut on the Strat was cut too deep. After fixing these small issues they are keepers and phenomenal guitars but the attention to detail on my MIM EVH, at least the only example I have, is definitely far and above some of the most expensive Fender production run guitars. I have to wonder if that's in the contract :) I'm also really excited for the Wolfie signature simi... he described it as basically a hard rock simi-hollow. If the fit and finish of the current models are a good example.... take mah money!
Same here. 2010 MIJ Special with hardtail. Really nicely made. Does have some sharp edges on the frets that I need to take care of. Birdseye maple fret board.
You do the craziest mods, some I've never thought of in my wildest imagination !! Kudos, but Schecter and Pensa Suhr were doing Super Strats around the same time Eddie was carving up his Frankenstein, he didn't want to spend the cash on custom shop axes !!
I’m kinda digging the Wolfgang Frankie models. I like the white one like you. I like the Star as well. I’m really wanting one of the semi hollow guitars. He did tell me in a live chat they they are coming but it just takes time.
Great video. I enjoy this channel. I'd like to see the MIJ EVH come with some fancy finishes like the AAAA and AAAAA figured maple tops on some of the USA models. For some reason the 3 tone highly figured Wolfgang USA sells for like $3899.00 but the EVH Wolfgang Stealth USA and Ivory USA guitars sells for like $4500.00 What's up with that significant difference in price point for the USA models?
They added a new lefty too! 5150 standard with a kill switch. I just got my lefty Wolfgang Special after a 14 month wait, so I'm not in a hurry to get the new one. Looks super cool though.

Looking at and researching all the stuff made in the Fujigen factory in Japan is an awesome rabbit hole to go down, between 90’s Squires, Fenders, Japanese Brands, the old EVH Wolfgang’s, to Fujigen brand. I have a Fujigen brand jazz bass and it’s the most comfortable jazz bass I’ve ever played. I’m super tempted to buy the MIJ Wolfgang.
I’m convinced, hands down, the wolfgang is the ultimate guitar. Multiple pro builders from Fender spent years designing it with Eddie with the sole goal in mind of making the most indestructible, solid guitar ever, down to the neck bolts, the neck construction and wood choice, and even the type of paint used. The neck would pretty much never move on my old made in China Wolfgang special, even if I walked from outside to inside.

I used to have an EVH wolfgang mij hardtail that was so sick. I definitely regret selling that. Can’t wait for that semi hollow. A killer James brown designed 2 channel distortion pedal with midi switching or external switching capabilities would be amazing. Also, a more “classic” style amp would be a ton of fun.

I bought one of the new evh stars in primer gray because it's my favorite shape and I have quite a few of them now. It's honestly a bit of a let down. I don't think it's a bad guitar, it's just not a $1400 guitar.
It doesn't come close to any of my Kramer voyagers and it's not even in the same solar system as my MIJ Edwards stars. All of which were cheaper than the EVH. The kramers significantly so.
It's at best an $800 guitar with a $600 markup because it says EVH on it. I won't be surprised if a lot of retailers end up with a bunch of them kicking around long after production has ceased.

I'd love 5150 guitar in "normal color" (let's say gloss black/red/green/blue/white as i don't like matte finishes) and also without a killswitch and with PU selector near the bridge.
So basically either 1/ 5150 striped series without stripes or 2/ standard series with one pick up (i think more probable than strat style PU selector).
I really like the idea of d-tuna and there's not so many guitars with top mounted floyd.
They need a 24 fret neck. And recessed/sculpted heel.
This is a long shot, but i think it would be cool if EVH released some limited runs of Eddie’s oddities: like an updated version of the ripley stereo guitar, or a replica little guitar, or even a wolfgang doubleneck

If I remember correctly, Wolfgang stated in an interview that we can expect to see 24 fret versions of the 5150 series coming from Japan, he also hinted at the fact that the custom shop is working on a high end replica of Ed’s Kramer guitar from the 80s

I imagine it would be just omit the Kramer replica which is really unfortunate, but it defiantly would be cool to see the custom shop produce a faithful and accurate reproduction with all the weathering that the guitar actually has@@GrandSlamAllDay5

I love EVH guitars and gear, but not at $1400 for a Star! I would love the black with gold hardware, but the price kills it for me.

Maybe this is a hot take, but I'd like them to offer more options without a floyd rose. I've had floyd rose equip guitars in the past, but I don't have the patience for them anymore. It is the only thing keeping me from the brand. Great amps though.

Agufish, all guitar bridges, be it non-vibrato or vibrato are top-mounted. You will never see a guitar bridge mounted on the back or sides. So saying that a Floyd Rose bridge is top-mounted is a misnomer. Floyd Rose bridges can be flush-mounted, dive only, as on the EVH; floating non-recessed or recessed floating.

Hi people! can anyone help me? i'm 16 years old and my dad is going to give me my first guitar, can anyone recommend me a guitar for 800$? i've started listening to Deftones, The Gazette, Rammstein, Iron, Pantera, Slipknot, Giojira, blsck sabbath, korn and more. I need a guitar that is similar to these bands, you know what i mean?
Something like the Ibanez RG7320EX 7-string at $700 would do well for those styles of music.
You want to find a guitar with two humbuckers (if you aren't familiar, those are the bigger rectangular pickups that have more output and are thicker sounding than single coils, which are the thinner pickups seen on traditional stratocaster style guitars.
The EVH Wolfgang Standard guitars seen in this video are a good buy, and I'd recommend them for a beginner. Typically, it is recommended that beginner guitarists stay away from Floyd-Rose equipped guitars (the bridge that you can do dive bombs with and stay in tune). Unlike most guitars with a floyd rose, all EVH-brand Floyd Rose guitars are dive-only, so you do not have the tricky tuning setup that a floating (both up and down) floyd rose has. With one of these guitars, you only unlock the nut when you can't tune within the range of the fine tuners on the bridge.
Good luck! I would check Sweetwater, I think they have a B-stock/demo 5150 model (Floyds are also setup in dive-only) for $799 right now. That is a killer guitar and one you'd have forever.

Used ESP LTD 1000 Series. You can find just about any shape you want. Great guitars.
@@vlonesebastian of course homie. Best of luck in your search. Find a model you find appealing to look at, it makes it a lot easier to pick it up and practice for a bit. Stay away from a full floating Floyd Rose bridge until you know what you're getting yourself into. I personally am a big EVH Gear fan and I don't play so much Van Halen, but I have a handful of their instruments and they're good shit.
How about making a lefty in the wolfgang standard model?!!!. For god sakes its 2023. I guess EVH feels lefties have more money and can afford the black only specials or custom shops. I know, another lefty gripe....lol
That awful Danelectro headstock is ugly! I've never liked Danelectro guitars so that's a big NO for me.
That just might be the ugliest headstock I've ever seen. I've thought that ever since I first saw Akira Takasaki play one back in the 80s. worst ever.
Too bad that relic Frankenstein series features basswood. Should be known as barf-wood. No material I have heard or tried sounds as horrible as basswood does. It's especially egregious considering the fact the original was made of ash.
