what's a very good affordable version of this light?
I built one way better than this out of a cheap camera softbox suspended from a shelf. It's a way softer light, which means there are basically no shadows.

I was wondering if Dyson had competition with work lights. I see now that they do
No competition here. Dyson’s light is garbage. I just bought one yesterday and paid over $700. Returned it today because it shuts off by itself(sensor was disabled). It’s a common issue with the dyson light. So. I returned it today and bought the benq instead.
If they had it in black, I would have gotten one.
does it light up your face also? (for video calls)
Yea the light will bounce around your table so it will light your face up and if you want you can angle it towards you or even better for softer light point the light against the wall behind your computer and get even soft light

Woah!!! Started out so quiet and serene before... the VOICE was so far and furious all emotions were thrown out in a torrent of haste. I like you into, but your fast and sudden monologue completely threw me off guard. I was totally expecting a much more relaxing voice or atleast a softer slower speaking one.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I totally agree with you, when ever I do scripted voice overs it tends to come out forced and not pleasing at all. I do tend to make some relaxing intros, sometime in the near future I plan to change up the video vibe for a more relaxing one.
$200.00 and it only comes in white. Nix Nix. Any color would be better than white.
