    Hi, I found below reply from benq about energy efficiency ''Our ScreenBar was designed under the old ErP regulation (EU) 874/2012, where it was on the A+ energy label. This old regulation was based on energy consumption, structure and optical effect. We did not expect a change of this rule. Indeed, the new ErP regulation (EU) 2019/2015 has raised the standards in terms of energy labeling. Their rating of electronic devices is calculated this way: Lunm (lm) / watt (W).
    At BenQ, we care about the lighting quality of our ScreenBar to avoid eye strain for our consumers. Due to its asymmetrical design, our ScreenBar projects reflections and refractions within its structure, therefore the Lunm (lm) / watt (W) result is less. That's why we are now classified on G on this energy label.''

    Flicker-free dimming is pretty major for those PWM-sensitive. Even at Hue levels of price, manufacturers love to just ignore it because it costs them more to do it right, and not enough people consciously recognize it as the source of their headaches and eyestrain to make enough noise to push a change.

    Before watching these this video, I totally see myself hyped out buying this great lamp and then returning it because of all the cumbsersome steps to use basic functions. Thank you!

    Just got the halo and think it was worth it. You get 2 for 1 on the Halo. , no longer need a desk lamp for ambient light behind the monitor. Working late at night, sometimes all you want is a little glow against the wall.

    What I like was I did notice less eye strain. Very handy when you don’t have much desk space. Only downside is using iPad you will see the led bulbs that is distracting.

    If you can’t change the brightness immediately, it’s a bad design, don’t doubt yourself, this is overengineered
    Edit: “it’s fiddly to turn on” … and it’s not really a good product but good thought and I hope they improve it

    I have to admit, it is surprisingly nice. I have never considered a screen bar since I'm quite happy with my DIY Sonoff LED strip backlight solution (it's RGB though I'm only using a warm yellow-ish colour anyway). That said, the change in lighting at 8:58 is quite dramatic and might indeed be useful at times. Not sure whether it would be worth the price though...
    Interesting video though. I also enjoy the various setup/room tour videos on YT; considering how often screen bars appear in them, I was wondering about their usability.

    Have you bought any other products with power efficiency pabels after march of this year? They changed up the number for the efficiency rating.This product would most likely have had an A+ rating before march.

      Oh, I did not know that, thanks for the insight! 🙇‍♂️
      And no, I did not purchase anything with a label this year, it only struck me here because it was right on the front of the outer box.

    Hey there, great video. I liked the B roll shots and narration (good jokes thrown in too). The sound bar you reviewed is a little pricey for my range, but it was helpful learning more about the product category because it is completely new to me.

    I always thought it was a gimmick for the longest time. That is until my brother bought me one. It was a cheap Huawei one he got from an amazon sale and to my suprise it worked quite well. Like you said that it is great at is illuminating just your desk space. I do like working in the dark but I think that's more due to being a night owl for the longest time 20+ years now so when it comes to table lamps I am fussy.
    I predominantly do work at the computer and I've just figured out over time any sort of exposed light no matter how dimm will irritate me over time so these monitor light bars are exactly what I needed. To the point I think I might even buy a few light strips to illuminate other places.

    I have the last generation ScreenBar with a wired controller rather than the wireless one. I heard too many problems with the wireless puck chugging battery life and went with the second generation one. It's pretty great to add some light to my work without taking up much desk space, but I had to prop it up on my screen given that my monitor bezel is too thin.

    • @CheeseTurbulence
      @CheeseTurbulence  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      uh didn’t know about the battery life for the puck. I suppose I didn’t use it long enough to encounter that issue, but good to know! 🙂

    According to the manual it ALWAYS goes back to the middle light temperature (4000K) with the auto adjustment.
    IE the auto adjustment is auto dimming ONLY. It doesn't set the color temperature based on surroundings.

    I currently use a $24 light bar without secondary light and it’s works well. I don’t think the wireless controller are worth the extra money nor it adds a huge value.

    does screen bar , cancel out the blue lights emitted from monitors which strain the eyes?

    • @CheeseTurbulence
      @CheeseTurbulence  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I didn’t think it would but according to the Benq website: “BenQ low blue light technology removes blue light (420~480nm wavelength) to reduce damage to eyes.”

    The ScreenBar Plus has a wired desk controller without touch controls and I think that will be more to your liking. It's also $30 cheaper.

    It sounds like they've fixed the issue with the remote. You can just press buttons and have it respond in the 2023 variant. That was my one concern with it.

    these light bars are actually great. yes a desk setup should have one included. but no we don't need to spend 200 bucks on a dang light. i have a $20 knock off with touch bar in the center so it won't wobble when pressed. it's bright and can be dimmed and doesn't reflect on the monitor.

    It's nice it lights up when you bring your hand to it., but the need to activate it first by hovering your hand is a very odd design choice that serves no purpose, but to annoy users.

    Does this really not have any screen glare even on a 48" OLED TV? My Xiaomi light bar has some so was curious

    • @CheeseTurbulence
      @CheeseTurbulence  ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends on the angle, the BenQ even in it’s most “aggressive” state didn’t create any glare on the screen.
      The OLED monitor is incredibly reflective so if you fiddle around with it enough, it can happen.

    The motion sensor on the puck is extremely gimmicky, BenQ is better than this and I wonder why they felt the need to put it in this way
