    This is a fantastic video. I love that you included and demonstrated bias lighting for people. Very important concept.
    You could have listed more points for why typical desk lamps suck as far as hand shadows and glare and insufficient coverage and stuff, but I think most people watching this video would already be pretty aware of why they want a monitor lamp.
    My research tells me that this is definitely the lamp to get.

      @@JSyntax I'm tossing up Quntis vs Xiaomi and in a way I like the simplicity of the Quntis. No extra things on the desk, no batteries required, all enclosed in one unit. What if the remote breaks? (Saw a few reviews 😬) Quntis or Xiaomi? You've almost got Mr convinced.

    • @nazara9878
      @nazara9878 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@PaulSpaccaventohaving to touch the light bar often can disorient its original tilt position. So you gonna have to re adjust its position every now and then as well. However, having a remote control lets you adjust brightness and color without potentially altering its position since your not touching the bar.

    You are one of the few people I've ever heard talk about "how our eyes work". I work in a fairly dark studio, and I've had a lamp behind my monitor for at least 15 years. Even at home, when I watch TV, for over 20 years I've had a lighting preset that illuminates the whole wall that the TV is on (Yes ,I've had smart lights for 20 years). At work, in the studio, I've been trying to focus the track lights over my head to only illuminate the desk, but not the put glare on the screen. I've had very little success. A light bar is the perfect solution, and Xiaomi might be the one for me. I just hope it fits on my super thick NEC monitor.

    • @JSyntax
      @JSyntax  ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome!

    • @TheLP98
      @TheLP98 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you already tried that on NEC? I also own one (EA275UHD) and I'm not sure if it'll fit.

    • @SoCalVipers
      @SoCalVipers ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheLP98 I have an NEC PA 271Q. It just barely fits. I wish I could post a picture here, but I'll try to describe the problem. the bezel isn't too thick, but about an inch down from the bezel on the back side, the case protrudes out another inch or so. The counterweight on the light touches that protrusion which causes the lamp to tilt forward and spill light onto the screen. For me, it's acceptable. A proper solution would be to break the counterweight off, and use strong 3M tape to attach the lamp in a semi-permanent way. The one thing no review mentions, is that the angel of the lamp can cause glare into your eyes. The light reflects off my metallic keyboard and into my eyes - it's not too bad, but not ideal either. A light bar is not a perfect solution, but better than the eyestrain caused by my black keyboard on my black desk in the dark. A light bar is also better than a bright lamp that would wash out my monitor.

    Can I use it when I have 38" Dell U3818DW? First possible issue is that it's curved, second possible issue is that top is like 3cm thick because it contains some vents and becomes thicker downwards (slope is not huge, maybe five degrees) and last issue is that screen has 1mm wide frame (then half centimeter or so is black, but it's only foil covering whole screen. so it has to clamp to the edge only.

      I use a wall-wash stage light to light up the entire wall behind my desk. It has many different programs for a multi-color experience. Speed, light intensity, color change modes..... this is awesome! This stage light is actually a little longer than my desk. I have led light string wrapped just under the lip of the desk, a ring light on dim setting that rotates through colors slowly jammed into the corner of the desk (it usually has opposite colors of the wall-wash light which makes the effect of even more multi-color. Also have a light bar that illuminates my desk surface just enough to not be overly bright but is able to give enough LUX to keep my wireless solar powered keyboard charged. No eye fatigue at all. You don't even have to have the computer on to feel like you are in your own little cubby light color of the world.
      My desk experience is like a dream!

      it depends what you do on the PC. Do you play games like CSGO or some games which require a lot of focus, reaction time and consistent aim? Then a PC monitor is better, since they (usually) are faster reaction time and higher Hz. But if you play more games like skyrim or something like that, then a TV should be fine if you ask me!

    Hello! I got a few questions:
    1. Is that a frameless monitor? How’s the clamp on it, doesn’t it pressure the LCD?
    2. Can the magnet damage the monitor?
    I recently bought the Asus ProArt and I don’t want to ruin it because of these.
    Thank you!

    Could you help me in making a decision. In my region the Xiaomi Monitor Lamp is for approx. 69 USD and Benq Screen bar is for 109 USD.
    What do you think is better value for money or what would you recommend?
    My priorities are not getting the beam of light to my eyes from lamp, longevity and ease of use.
    Many people have complained about the heating and longevity issue of Xiaomi Lamp and Benq is expensive.
    Please help, Thank You.

    • @StardustLegacyFighter

      I've heard the same about the BenQ one as well, but at least they have a superior customer service and 2 years warranty.
      However, I still think it's criminal to buy a monitor light bar that stops working after such a short amount of time.
      I still have a basic LED lamp from a cheap brand that I bought over 5 years ago, with no issues.
      I'm not sure if it's the lack of quality control, or just the fragile design of a light bar which makes its lifespan less than a regular lamp.

    would still prefer benq over this, the light profile of this shown in the video is symetric, causing light to spill onto the monitor, or angeled aggressively away that it'll be in your eye. calling it a benq killer is misleading.
    there's a reason why benq is much more expensive, more engineering and R&D was put into it.
