    Really awesome set up. I didn't know that existed. I love the idea of a shower while car camping.

    A tailgate shower like yours is the way to go. Alternatively, a shower tent. Only problem is how to dry it afterwards - tie it to the roof?

      I guess you could tie it there and speed off like superman! Generally I'm not in a hurry and it ends up drying before I pack up, but I could just spread it out in the sun on my next stop. That's what we do backpacking when it has rained overnight. Take a lunch break in a sunny spot and spread out the tent rain fly. Dries fast.

    I do something similar but with a 25ft garage door screen (Harbor Freight) and two $9 nylon 6x7 tarps I found at Walmart. I purchased a bunch of heavy duty magnet hooks to hang the screen...it's weighted on the bottom so it stays put in the wind. When I need a little privacy, I hang the 2 tarps up on the inside of the screen. Quick, easy and bug free for the most part.
    I have a 2nd garage door screen that I attach to a 9ft sun umbrella that I clamp over my side door to my van's roof rack. The screen fits around the umbrella perfectly leaving enough extra to allow easy entry in and out.
    I attach the umbrella pole to a cute, folding step-ladder that then serves as a place to sit everything from my phone to my boots or flip flops depending on whether I'm winter or summer camping.
    In the end I have 2 small outdoor rooms that are screened in.
    True story. A huge racoon thought he was going to join me one evening but the screen and my big mouth stopped him cold. If I had not had that screen in place he would have come right in. Scary moment for sure 😳. I'll never snack on popcorn after dark again. Promise!!

      Oh my goodness! That would be freaky to have a wild animal snuggling up in the middle of the night! I love your screen room ideas. I had wondered about how to create something like that. Thanks for the information!

    Cool setup , can't blame anyone but yourself if you use up all the hot water .

      Exactly! You certainly learn conservation with this setup.

      The magnets are stronger than I imagined. I'm thinking they might even work to attach a small "awning" on one side.

    In cold weather, use a heater.

    That’s a great idea 💡

    This is super cool. Never thought to use magnets. I’m trying to figure out how to do this in my Yukon but it’s got hinged rear doors. And not a lift hatch.

    • @MtnWanderer-TieDye-
      @MtnWanderer-TieDye-  ปีที่แล้ว

      The magnets are great! I think you could just wrap a tarp around the doors or even inside the doors to keep moisture off them. You just wouldn't have a "roof" over you but you wouldn't need one.

    That is a pretty neat setup. I have some Chill Gorilla products too. They are really nice. Too bad you can't buy them anymore on Amazon or anywhere that I could find. I like the shower and pump a lot. I might need to get one of those. Take care and have a great day.

      I'm glad I was able to find a use for the tarp rather than tossing it after the cat had fun with it. Thanks for watching!

    I find it difficult to find places to setup shower the way you do without attracting attention.

    • @MtnWanderer-TieDye-

      Right, this would be more for staying in areas where you don't have people around. Since I hike, I'm at remote trailheads and can do this. Sometimes I just open both passenger side doors and drape this over and bathe in that area.

    Showers 🚿 aren't necessary 2 keep clean and feel refreshed. A collapsible basin with warm water....you stand in it to soak your feet while you lather up with a wash cloth or sponge 🧽 (you can get the back scrubber one for your back) then you simply rinse off.

    • @MtnWanderer-TieDye-
      @MtnWanderer-TieDye-  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad that works for you. When I've been on trail for days and days using only baby wipes for the pertinents, I definitely need to totally rinse off the funk with clean water. I also use this bucket for dishes when camping so I don't want my body funk in it at all.

      @@MtnWanderer-TieDye- You just brought up the 🔑 thing.....TWO buckets 🪣 or bins! ......one 4 dishes and a separate one for personal hygene. I also have a wide-mouth "spit-bottle" 4 when I brush my teeth. I can't stand when people set their toilet in their shower and don't add a separate drop down [if space is an issue] SINK! 😉

      @@leilal8053 I don't want a second bucket taking up room. This works great for me. Thanks for watching. 🙂

    The size of your tarp please😁👌

    • @MtnWanderer-TieDye-
      @MtnWanderer-TieDye-  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was approximately 5x12. It was one half of a hammock tarp that had been damaged on the other side. I simply cut it in half lengthwise.

      It was one from Amazon called DouNiPig. It is no longer available but there are others very similar to it. Mine has since quit working so I'm not sure if I'd recommend it.
