I'm new to the world of Bernina and did not find the manual as helpful as it could have been for bobbin and upper threading of machine. This video is super. It was exactly what I needed and I no longer fear setting up my machine. Thank you.
Thank you for your help. Making it simple for me helps me using my Bernina not so intimidating. I got my machine for Christmas and haven't used it till now.
I have watched several videos trying to figure out how to thread machine correctly and use the needle threader. This is the only video I've seen that explains it fully and clearly so that I can now confidently thread my machine. Thank you so very much!
My fabric tech teacher kept getting mad at me cuz I didn't know how to thread those Bernina machines -_- So when I watched this video, it helped me very much. Thank you!! :D Very nice tutorial
Loretta this is by far the absolute best video out there!! Thank you so much. I have watched and watched the Bernina ones but they go way to fast and dont explain like you do. Again thank you!
Many thanks Loretta for a very clear guide. Will run your video on my tablet so I have it next to me as the paper instructions are not very clear. Sue Christchurch UK
Thanks so much! This vid is awesome! I have a Bernini virtuosa 150, and at the end when i try get the bobbin thread to come up with the needle the needle thread just gets tangled, any ideas?
Take the top thread off the machine. Make sure your presser foot is up, and your needle is in the highest position by touching your foot pedal. Rethread your machine. If that doesn't work, try putting in a new needle, as they get dull and burrs and will do things to your thread.
40+ years of sewing (but a newbie Bernina-user) and that's the first time I ever heard that moving the presser foot to the up position releases the tension plates for easier threading. I wonder how much frustration I could have avoided over the years if someone had told me that a long time ago?
I have a Bernina 910 which hasn't been used in a long time. I just cleaned the bobbin area. In reading the upper thread, I can get as far as I get as far as taking the thread downwards under the thread regulator but when I go up again to the take up lever (before I go downwards to the needle holder thread guide) it doesn't catch. Also, after playing with it, the the little mechanism in the slot in the slot lever, the little silver guide now hides from me. I can neither turn the hand wheel or move the needle to try and bring the lever out. Is there a hole on that last lever before bringing it down to to the needle? Please help.
When threading the machine, make sure that your presser foot is up and that your needle is in the highest position so that the take up lever is in the up position. Also make sure that you don't have your bobbin rewind engaged, because it will not let you move your needle if it's engaged.
Hi Loretta. About the tiny hole located on the bobbin case's handle. What difference does it make, threaded or not threaded. I've seen a video where the tiny hole is threaded for using the 3A foot. Thanks. Appreciate it.
That is to put extra tension on your bobbin thread without having to adjust the screw. For regular sewing you wouldn't need it, but for things like free motion quilting, you would thread the hole of the bobbin case.
Doris, If you want to use the start/stop button, you must unplug your foot control. If you want to use the foot control, then make sure you have it plugged in. If you are still having issues, it may be a mechanical issue, in which case, I'd recommend that you take it to your local Bernina dealer and have them check it for you.
I have a question concerning my Bernina artista 730. I am quite sure that I am threading it correctly but the upper thread keeps breaking as well sends an error message " Check hook system" Do you have any suggestions as to how to fix this?
Put in a new needle, as old needles can snag your thread. Make sure to clean out your bobbin case area. If you're still getting the error message, you will need to take it to your local Bernina dealer to have it diagnosed.
Hey great video, im wondering if you could help me: Does anyone know where i can find a manual to download for the bernina 1630? please send me a PM or reply here, thank you!
I don't know where you can download a Bernina manual, but we do sell Bernina 1630 instruction manuals. If you're interested in ordering it, you can give us a call at 302-764-9033 and we can mail it out to you.
Maureen Tyler The rewind on the Bernina 700 is on the front of the machine. Put your empty bobbin on the bobbin rewind spindle which is next to the flywheel. You would set up your machine as if you were going to thread it, but just put it through the first guide that runs on top of the machine, and then bring the thread down diagonally to the round guide that is just under and to the right of your stitch length knob, then bring your thread up to the bobbin and wrap it around several times. Loosen the knob inside the flywheel, and step on the foot control. Your bobbin should now start rewinding.
HayesSewingMachineCo hi..thank you so much..i can wind the bobbin I found that bit easy but the top thread is not picking up the bottom thread so was wondering if I was i was threading the bobbin correctly ! ( just putting it into the machine ) thanks
Maureen Tyler Try putting in a brand new needle, they can get dull, bent and burrs on them. If after changing the needle, you still can't bring up the bobbin thread, than most likely it is a timing issue in which case you would need to take it to a Bernina servicing center to have it repaired.
Hello..just to let you know your advice was brilliant and it now works..sorry it's taken so long to get back to you..i didn't know how I lost the link Just would like to ask if I may...the machine keeps stopping it goes well for a while then the bobbin seems to get stuck..there's several thickness of thread and it's makes a real knot on one side of the sewn material. Wondered if you had any idea ? Thank you for all your help before :-)
Maureen, if you're getting really big loops underneath your fabric, try taking the top thread completely out of your machine. Make sure your presser foot is up and that your needle is in the highest position when threading so that the alignment is correct for all of the threading guides. Rethread the machine. If you're still having issues, you'll need to take it to your local Bernina dealer for assistance.
I would appreciate if someone could help me fix my Problem with my Berette 60 Sewing Machine. Needle first then the part that holds it fell also. Little wire that hold the need fell too. Please help me fix my Sewing Machine back to normal.
Linda, it's not something that I can walk you through. I need to see the machine. If you're local to us, you can bring it in, if not, you'll have to take it to your local Bernina dealer for assistance.

Glad it helped, happy sewing!
You're welcome, happy sewing!
This is the BEST explanation I've ever had--the Bernina stores don't even point out all the great features you did! So clear! Thank you!!

I was wandering if you are still making more videos for the 55 model?

My 530 is threaded correctly. It will sew if I push the start/stop button but does not begin to sew with the foot pedal. What am I doing wrong?
