Cheers Don, I apologise for the delay in videos. This way of making veneer is actually quite interesting, as most veneer runs horizontally, you can create some really nice effects. It is a bit of a pain to glue it back together though 😂 cheers buddy 👍😺
It’s good to be back making videos my friend. I apologise for the delay in videos. Many more videos to come this year. I hope you and Stella are having a blast and also give Stella a big pat for me 👍😺
The wood was Meranti, it kinda looks similar to a type of mahogany. It’s somewhat similar to pine when your working it. It’s readily available at Bunnings over here. Cheers Felix 👍😺
You can also make veneer on a table saw, but it does waste more material. it was Meranti, they sell truck loads of it at Bunnings over here. Cheers oneshot 👍🙂
Just out of curiousty....why didnt you kept the strip of wood solid and then cut strips of vineer instead of cutting it into blocks and then made vineer strips
Great question and it many not be immediately clear due to the brightness level of the video. The grain directions were opposite. The base layer wood was running horizontal, while the veneer was vertical.
You’re the first woodworker that I’ve seen make and use their own veneer. I’m impressed.
☺️ actually now that you say it I haven’t seen a lot of it either. Veneer is expensive so I’d recommend it! 👍😺
Table cable gorgeous and your cat has the funkest Whiskers i've ever seen. So cute
Thank you Janice, I think his whiskers are trying to match his waist size 😂👍
Amazing work, and Han looks happy in that box 😻
Cheers professor 👍 Hans does like his soy milk boxes. Between me and you he has a bit of an addiction 😺
The tiny hand plane is awesome! Thank you for sharing!
It’s the veritas miniature plane. It’s actually really handy, if you use hand planes a lot I’d recommend it. Not a problem 👍😺
Gluing those blocks together I said, "He's not going to make veneer" and surprise. Every video contains a surprise. Nice job.

@@ejwoodhouserestorations2796 ohk. Cool. Thank you for the feedback sir. I understand now
I don't understand why you cut that board into pieces and then glued it back together that was just a waste of time
because of the grain direction
I just seen this and was going to reply but Felix has already answered it better than I could 😂👍
