    My years of night grinding has turned into full time daytime grinding as well. No control over it. I know there’s exercises and physio but I couldn’t wait another day I just booked a masseter muscle Botox to paralyze it. I will try this before my appointment

      Please do! I have seen and heard of some great results. Be sure to do it at least every evening. Let me know if it works for you. As you massage your masters and the side of your head remember to breathe out and allow the muscle to relax and let go. Don’t force it

    I just did this and it works. Thank you! My jaws were getting so sore from grinding all day. I tried gum and it helped some but this really stopped it.

      That is awesome! Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. Chewing gum is a temporary fix becuase when chewing you are forcing warm blood into the muscles and that makes them more pliable for the moment. However, becaues youa re chewing it will make the muscles tighter, so it becomes a loop.

      @TheMuscleRepairShop Yes! Your information has relieved the whole problem! I no longer clinch my teeth and gums and I'm sleeping really good at night. Before my jaws would get so painful and once I did the technique I felt instant relief! You are amazing! Yes...I used to chew gum but now it's just not something I like doing.😂

    I just did the massage too hard and my pain flared up. Thank you, I will now remember your advice and do it gently and breathe through it. Thanks a lot.

      Good that you noticed your feelings. Too much pain will reult in your brain contracting muscles to stop the pain. Breathe into the gentle pressure, relax the mind to relax the body.

    Interesting video. What are your thoughts on deep needling of trigger points in acupuncture?

    • @TheMuscleRepairShop
      @TheMuscleRepairShop  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Sorry for the delay in rsponding back. There is nothing wrong with it, however, when we undestand how the brain controls the muscles, if the brain is not involved to release the tension, any treatment will be on temporary. The deep needling may affect the spindles of the muscle which will release the tension for up to few hours. Since the brain was not engaged in the process, once the muscles come back online, the brain will do exactly what it did before you had the needling.

    What are your thoughts on botox for masseter? I was recommended to get it but a little skeptical about it.

    • @TheMuscleRepairShop
      @TheMuscleRepairShop  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Botox will paralyze the masseter and may affet the movement. Think of women who have botox in their lips to reduce wrinkles, their smiles are affected. I have found that by doing the masseter massages, most people report less grinding and satop biting throught their biteguards. Hope this helps

    My analysis is that grinding teeth happens when your dentist keep your mouth open over a long hour during the teeth cleaning , brain is having default harmony to keep your mouth close, but this constant pulse to close the mouth becomes disrupted and it induces grinding teeth , one should not keep the mouth open long hour forced

    • @TheMuscleRepairShop
      @TheMuscleRepairShop  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I agree. You are right, holding your mouth open for so long forces the brain to contract the muscles to close the mouth. This tension in your cheeks can lead to the grinding, headaches. and some soreness in the TMJ area. One of the things I like to do is use my thumb, start at my cheek bone and gently rub down towards my jaw as I breathe out. This will allow my face to relax and this muscle to relax. The muscle is named the Masseter. I repeat that 3 times on each side to help.Thanks for the comment.

    How is a massage gonna help if ur thinking about ir problems too much. They dont match up

    • @TheMuscleRepairShop
      @TheMuscleRepairShop  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly, A good therapist will pick up on that and coach you on breathing and letting go of the thoughts in your mind. UNtil you can release the thoughts the muscles cannot relax. Muscles are just as emotional as they are physical.

    When I gently touch the masseter on the left side and breathe out, I feel it in the right side of the jaw somehow. Both for opening and closing my mouth. Any idea how to ease into the discomfort?

    • @stretchnreleasetechnique3082

      I have seen this many times. The masseters, which are on both sides of your face connecting the jaw to the cheek bone, will affect the TMJ. If you grond your teeth, clench your jaws from stress, or frown a lot, these muscles will tighten. Many times onw side tighten more than the other. Thisc an be from chewing on one side more than the other or you may hold your jaw toghter on one side moere than the other. Since both masseters must work together, if one side is tighter, it is not unusual to feel pain on the opposite side as the jaw is out of alignment. Some clients have been to a chiropractor for adjustments, but if it si the muscles pulling the jaw out of alignment, the misalignment will happena again after a few hours. Massaging the masseters nightly will help maintain the proper balance and if you have your jaw adjusted, the adjustment will stay longer reducing the risk of further damage. Hope this helps. Let me know hwo it si working for you.

      I cannot promise it will stop completely. I can tell you if you do these exercises you could reduce the pain. By just relaxing the brain and massaging the muscles, the muscles will soften. This can reduce the pain. Try it and let me know your progress.

      When we clench we don't just clench our jaw ..in many cases we clench our hips and neck and hands ...try progressive muscle relaxation technique ..I have been trying that ...have this same issue last 20 or more years
