    I've been following your channel for a while now, because of the good quality and real life data and comparisons. Because I also happen to have a 3.0 supercharged engine in my SQ5 and that is quite unique here in the Netherlands, because the SQ5 was only supplied as diesel in Europe. Already liked your channel, but now I'm even more curious and interested. My best run on the back road's of Germany 🤪 is stock 52F 43ft DA-490ft 13.24s at 102.99 mph on Draggy. I still don't understand why you have so few subs, keep up the good work 👍🏻

I was looking on IE and couldn’t find a tune? I did a 2nd res delete ( x.pipe ) intake, throttle controller and race chip. Best I could do for what I’ve found. If possible could you do a video on the 4L 3.0SC q7s? Like what tunes/mods are available for them? I’m not sure what is compatible as far as engine in general goes as the motors are in the b8.5-b9 and there’s a ton of mods for them . But not much directly listed for the 4Ls. ?? I have no idea what these terms mean. How do you do a “tune” without any hardware? What is meant by Stage 1? Is that just a non hardware “tune”. I imagine this would void a warranty and potentially add wear. Otherwise, why doesn’t the manufacturer incorporate this?

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Looks like you have some SERIOUS research to do. A tune is software, not hardware. Stage 1 is the most entry level power gain made via software (aka tuning your vehicle's ECU) which doesn't require additional hardware to be installed to make more power. If you do add hardware to a Stage 1 tuned vehicle you will gain even more power. Yes, you void your powertrain warranty when you tune your vehicle. Manufacturers tune their vehicles from the factory for reliability and longevity, not for maximum performance. My take on this; I don't think the improvement was that much credited to the ECU tune. I think the performance increase was more atttributed to the TCU tune which allows the transmission to rev all the way to 7200rpm instead of being limited to 6200rpm. Sure, the ECU tune helps and has mapping to 7200rpm, but on an SQ5, the stage 1 increase in performance is hardly noticeable - if at all. I know this, because I own a '15 SQ5 and went through all the steps....all the way up to APR Stage 2+ with a custom TCU tune. For anyone out there with a stock SQ5, stage 1 on its own holds very little benefit. If you own a Q5 3.0 TFSI....then yes, stage 1 takes your power to that of SQ5 levels and a little higher.
    TL;DR - on an SQ5, stage 1 is a waste of time unless you add a TCU tune as well. Even then, you don't be experiencing a "different car" like the vanilla Q5 3.0 TFSI owners would experience given the same mods.

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sadly you'd be absolutely 100% incorrect. The MPH in itself is enough to showcase that the car is making WAY more power than it was before the ECU was tuned. The TCU most definitely improved the shifts and the launch which help the ET, but the amazing gains in trap speed are mainly to do with the SUV making way more power than it was before.
      I completely disagree with you that the Stage 1 tuning is a "waste of time". It is clear as day in this video that it added 8.5MPH in the 1/4 mile which is a MASSIVE gain from just tuning the car.

    • @boerieza
      @boerieza 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VancityAudi I'm speaking from first hand experience. What you should have done, if you wanted to be that objective, is to first update the ECU without the TCU tune....do a run or two, and then add the TCU tune on top of that and witness the difference. You don't have first hand experience with the ZF8 box and this engine...you come from a DSG fitted vehicle. It's not the same thing and without the TCU tune on the ZF8 box you can't rev past 6200rpm which, as I am sure you know, is where the HP gain comes from.
      I stand by my comment - because I have experience in this, the stage 1 tune on the SQ5 is pretty miserable without the TCU tune to go along with it. I am stating it as a fact.
      The stage 1 tune adds maybe/possibly 60hp over the stock power curve, but the extra power is only noticeable past 6200rpm which you cannot access without a TCU tune on the ZF8 box. Ask your mechanic friend. Was able to rev to 7200rpm on his stock ZF8 tune? If he says "yes" - I would recommend another mechanic OR list his SQ5 as the only one in existence to rev past 6200rpm without a TCU tune.

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@boerieza so you've tuned your car with IE software and know this from first hand experience? You claimed in your first comment that you used APR tuning. Not all tuning is the same.

    • @boerieza
      @boerieza 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VancityAudi You should know as well as I do that when it comes to top level tuners, there's very little in it OTHER than personal bias and kiddy politics. I am just stating FACTS about how the ZF8 box works in the Audi model in question. It has nothing to do with tuner. BTW, APR being in the 3.0 TFSI game a little longer than IE, so I would assume it's not a half-baked map.
      That aside, my statement, that I am really trying hard to get across to you, is that without a TCU map on a ZF8 box, you cannot access the increase in HP that a stage 1 or higher map offers. The impressive times you guys saw from your video was attributed to the ECU + TCU combo. If you had just done the ECU, you probably wouldn't have made a video because you would have seen very little difference in performance.
      It's not a difficult concept. The ZF8 box is not the same as your DSG, it has limitations in accessing power above 6200rpm, unlike your DSG. and when it comes to superchargers....higher RPM matters. You said it yourself...the trap speeds were higher. Yes, they were, because your friend could actually rev the car higher through the gears. Physics.
      This is actually not an argument - I'm just trying to correct the statement that this was all done by the ECU tune, which is misleading your viewers and subscribers. These cars are a little different to your S4 and it's important to let people understand that a TCU tune really makes THAT big of a difference in these cars. I'm not trying to block your IE sponsorship...just trying to help you promote both products (tunes) and not just one.

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@boerieza your point seems to have now changed. Your first comment stated that the TCU tune was the performance gain and that the ECU tune was pretty much useless. Are you changing your tone now? Just to prove that you're wrong you've inspired me to shoot a video on the dyno proving the gains with and without a TCU tune. Thanks for the inspiration!!! I'm 100% positive that with a TCU tune the car will rev higher and make more power, but the bulk of the power gain will come from the ECU being tuned and not the TCU. Thanks for watching.
