I haven't found a version of this song (including the shortened studio version also from 1976) that was not sang or performed really well. I mean all Americans should be proud that they had such a singer, Elvis was amazing! His singing voice is Always so much better than anyone else including the top groups ever. MIchael Jackson was a great performer and dancer but his singing was NEVER this good. Prince had a Great voice, but it's the Rich Baritone here that really touches most of us and sends some of us reeling! Thank you for your great heartfelt reaction.😀

I might be wrong, but I think that if you list the 100 greatest American rock and pop artists since the 1950s, there is only one that actually did his patriotic duty and served in the military. That guy also happens to claim the number one spot on that list.
