    Lightkey has a built in MIDI application bus. You can see it listed in the ProPresenter destinations in the video. You can skip the whole IAC driver step (and the headache) and just check "Lightkey Input" in ProPresenter when adding a new MIDI device under the communications tab.

    This video is great. I'm looking into using a setup like this however I see that Lightkey is a subscription based software. Does anyone know of a good non-subscription based software that would work in a similar way?

    Im having troubles with lightkey... it worked perfectly for about 3 months and then one service we had organized like 6-7 songs on the live tab with our presets already made. By the 3rd song when switching from verse to chorus it stayed frozen! The worst was when our preacher had to take his position and the stage was all dark blue with green center lights 😂 i tried quitting lightkey and starting it again and nothing..... i then disconnected my usb->dmx dongle lol and reconnecting and nothing happened! Its been like 3-4 services that we have to keep all the lights white just to be safe when preacher or pastor take their spot. Also Im constantly updating lightkey when an update is available.

    Hey Jake! Thank so much for your videos. They help a lot. Kwestion: set up Propresenter backgrounds loops to trigger light key cues. All the cues work correctly, but when I use a cue with any type of effect (chasers in particular), the lights flash really quick when transitioning to that trigger. Any ideas?

    hey church front team, great video!
    because midi network always feels so unstable, in your experience is it safer to:
    1.ableton (mac1) triggers propresenter (mac2) and lightkey (mac3)
    or
    2. ableton (mac1) triggers propresenter (mac2) and then propresenter (mac2) triggers lightkey (mac3)

    • @Churchfront
      @Churchfront  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We run Ableton on mac 1 and have that trigger both ProPresenter and Lightkey on Mac 2, with separate network sessions for each. Never run into any problems during service. I would recommend against using both ableton and propresenter triggers for 3 computers because to me that sounds like overkill (and more work)

  • @alavnawhat

    First off thanks alot for this but I have a question. I'm using Propresenter7 with Lightkey and this has veen great for the most part; however I noticed that my lights will dim a bit when switching between cues. How did you account for that? Troubleshooting wise? Currently we have fade in/out times as 4 and 8 seconds respectively which eased things a bit but we aren't willing to change those times much. It mainly occurs with our LED based lights which actually don't "dim" per say as much as they change their pulse time. (We aren't using ableton btw)

    Question.. can you trigger midi from pro presenter to a cue list in lightkey? Or does it have to be a button for it to be triggered?

      I am in the same boat, how do I get MIDI info from one computer to another?

    • @brandonschroeder6831
      @brandonschroeder6831 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use the built in MIDI network system. You can use your computer's WiFi or you can connect computers to one another via cat5 cable. You can also connect multiple computers together with cat5 by using plugging all of the computers into a common network switch. Using cat5 produces a much more stable and lower latency result. The internal routing works very similar to the steps he outlined for the IAC driver except you create a MIDI network session to route MIDI to and from.

    In Lightkey, when you choose the behavior of the midi cue and set it to activate, does that prevent PP6 from turning those lights off if the slide is clicked a second time?
    Thank you!

    • @Churchfront
      @Churchfront  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Since it is set to activate it is triggering the light cue in Lightkey. You have to program a slide with a blackout if you want to turn the lights off, or you can turn the MIDI behavior in Lightkey to toggle which would allow you to click on a slide twice to turn the lights on and off 👍🏻

    • @adventureseeker423
      @adventureseeker423 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Churchfront Sweet! Thank you so much! That was a major question as with my current software if you click the slide a second time, it will toggle the lights off, and I hate that. Definitely switching to lightkey soon! Thanks for all you do!

    Hey Jake and Peeps,
    The Audio Midi setup app is crashing on me constantly (since Easter), here is what I have tried to fix....
    1. Ableton Preferences and Tutorials (all that Jazz)
    2. Audio Midi Setup stuff on Apple Support
    3. Updated Computer software (Mojave 10.14.4)
    4. Tried another router
    5. Every TH-cam vid and Google Link available.
    etc etc etc...
    It eventually will lead me to force quit the app because it just freezes, and then when I re-open it, it decides to not do anything.
    I restart my computer, It works (for a period of time) and then glitches and freezes again.
    Causing me to repeat the process above.
    Any tips? Anybody else having this problem?
    Can't seem to find any answers, which is super frustrating when I am automating ProPresenter and Lightkey through Ableton for Sunday Mornings and our Monthly Young Adult Worship Nights!

      Sadly the MIDI setup can be buggy, but usually restarting all computers running MIDI sessions fixes any problems. Do you have separate sessions for both ProPresenter and Lightkey? Also, if you can, I have found we get better reliability when hardwiring the computers with an ethernet cable (video on how to do that coming very soon).

    • @colinmaltby
      @colinmaltby 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya it has been recently! It's been great from Sept-April. I am running 2 sessions. I've also tried running one.... I will look into ethernet.
      Appreciate what you do bro! This stuff has helped push our worship excellence to another level. 🙏🏽🔥🎉

      I've been having a similar issue with our setup lately too. I've been running the other way around - ProPresenter 6 taking commands over hard-wired network MIDI from our lighting software (QLCPlus on a PC in the booth running rtpMidi) and Ableton (on a third computer stage-side, also PC running rtpMidi). It was rock solid for almost two years. Then a couple months back the MIDI Server on the ProPresenter machine started locking up mid-service on us. It works for a while, then flakes out kind of like at the 2:00 mark in the video, but I end up having to go into Activity Monitor to kill the MIDI Server to recover. I've been scraping every resource I can find trying to figure out if this is a common issue or just my machine. At least now it seems like others have experience something similar. Is there any definitive resolution?

    The irony of you saying "real" worship leaders use Abelton. Real worship leaders don't need tech at all to lead worship. I love tech, but my fear is that "worship" in many churches is too dependent upon technology.
