    The only negative with the Atem Mini Pro is the single HDMI out. You can’t multiview and program feed at the same time. (Unless your program feed goes over USB-C into eCamm or OBS). That being said the amazing thing with the Atem Mini Pro is the record feature built in. I am using it every week now. Recording to a USB-C thumb drive and the entire multi cam with lower thirds shoot is recorded live! This saves hours and hours of work. Also the Atem Mini Pro has a built in streaming codec. So no need for a separate streaming PC you can go straight over hardwired Ethernet to any streaming platform.

    TV studio Pro 4k has been my favorite switcher I've ever used, and I've owned 5 different switchers/ran Tricasters, grass valley systems etc. I'd encourage your churches to look into that piece of gear. I also wouldn't recommend the mini recorder, I'd go with a web presenter or an ultra studio. Hope this is helpful for people!

      Interesting they don't understand yet with the times we are in. We have a 4 camera PTZ system in a small rural church and immediately the value in that was seen because the only difference people have had in their worship is that they aren't in the pews. We started out bring all the cameras into our Wirecast on a Mac via LAN, but the camera feeds would lag at different rates making post editing a challenge and live streaming an even bigger challenge. We got the Television Studio Pro and the change has brought value almost immediately. My post service edit time after has decreased from more than 4 hours to less 1 1/2 hours from beginning of edit to posting it. That opens up 2 1/2 hours to focus and put energy in other areas and project. Plus our service audio and video are in sync always and the switcher opens up the ability to put the video feed on our big screens when the pews are filled again. Plus our live stream computer when from live streaming and recording at 720p with the Mac at 90-99% the whole service to now we are streaming 720p & recording at 1080p and the computer sometimes hits 60% but mostly runs in the 40-50% range. That will pay in the long run in wearing out the MAC plus we aren't dropping 300+ frames in a 1 hour service. These are well worth the money. If you can't show your elders the value then hit me up via FB. Our church streams are fb.com/StPaulUticaSermons. If you check out the highlights we did in 2019 they are with a 1 camera setup. Towards the end of December we went to the 4 camera setup (LIVE School Christmas Program was our first live stream all the cameras and shows the audio video delays) and then March 28th we began full online service. I have been using it now for about 4 service. It has made a huge difference.

  • @kyleduddleston4123
    @kyleduddleston4123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I know this is an old video, but I'm confused about how our setup compares to what you described. (We have a very old setup and I'm in the process of updating it from about 20 years ago.lol) We have a PC on the left side of our booth with an operator running Propresenter for our lyrics and message slides. He is sending it to our screens on stage and sending a feed into my PC where I run the Livestream and recording. I have an old Roland video switcher that is getting video from the main camera at my right and from 2 old ptz cameras on either side of the sanctuary. The video comes out of that switcher and into my PC. I run Vmix and have it set up with a feed from the switcher, a feed from the other PC with Propresenter, an audio feed from our Behringer X32 (I think that's the model), and I have a couple of overlays for our Church Logo in the corner and an overlay for how people at home can give online during our tithe and offering time. (We have a mostly older audience, but are starting to get younger couples into our congregation.) I just send the stream to Facebook and TH-cam from Vmix using streaming keys with both sites open in chrome in the background to start and end the stream on each site. Is this a weird way to do this and are there ways to simplify as I build a couple new PC's? Our pastor wants us to be capable of 4k, so new computers which I can build myself (we are running dells from like 2011. Lol), new cameras and a new switcher.

    Hi, Thanks for your tutorial. I heard that for the audio recording you need to use delay feature because there will be a delay for the video through HDMI connection from the camcorder. So in order to sync both, a delay feature for the audio mixer is needed. I don’t have this feature on my audio mixer. So do you have any idea how to do this? Thanks. This is for a church.

    • @AndyPobjoy
      @AndyPobjoy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Taken from the web: "The ATEM Mini, and recently introduced ATEM Mini Pro, multi-camera switchers lacked a really important feature: adjustable audio delay. When video and audio sync is critical, and the two sources are not aligned, a production can go to shambles quickly. Even a few milliseconds off can distract a viewer.
      Blackmagic has added adjustable audio delay for each analogue input on both ATEM Mini models. Prior to the update, users would either have to make adjustments at the mixer level, camera level, or purchase an audio delay box. This eliminates the need entirely and allows users to adjust settings locally on the ATEM Mini and ATEM Mini Pro switchers."
      I have an ATEM Mini Pro as well as a TV Studio HD. There are so many nifty features missing from the more expensive TV Studio HD that make life so much easier using the ATEM Mini Pro.
      When it comes to live streaming or web content creation, I would choose the ATEM Mini Pro or ISO any time over the TV Studio HD. If you need the extra inputs, go for the ATEM Mini Extreme.

    Do you know of a simple simulcast solution for Mac? We're running streams to Facebook and TH-cam, which is very easy on Windows, but I'm trying to integrate a Mac into the system as a streaming machine. Yes, I know that there are services like restream.io, but my concern is that it creates a single point of failure. Even if we use a service like that, we need a method to bypass them if their server goes down. My current solution for the Mac is to log into two user accounts on the same machine and run OBS Studio on both of them. While it works, it shouldn't be this difficult and it has the problem that if I which from the master account to the slave account it kills the audio on the stream that is streaming from the master account until I switch back to that account. I'm trying very hard to avoid to using Bootcamp to install Windows on the Mac, though I know that would solve the majority of the problems I've been running into.

    • @jasonaa7221
      @jasonaa7221 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We use Wirecast. It'll let you stream to multiple platforms but it's relatively expensive. You may want to look into vMix which is a lot less. If you consider yourself to be somewhat techie, I think I saw some tutorial using Nginx to setup an RTMP server which would then broadcast to Facebook and TH-cam, which would still let you use OBS.

    • @TimothyFish
      @TimothyFish 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jasonaa7221, I have a Python script that will read from a file or a RTMP server and will stream it using ffmpeg. The problem is that that the same ffmpeg settings that work excellently on Windows hang on the Mac when trying to stream to Facebook. There is some "politics" involved, so offloading the task to Windows or a Linux server isn't an option; I have find a way to use the Mac. Unfortunately, what I have been finding is that most people who are using Mac are either streaming to one site at a time or they are using the Mac as a dumb terminal and passing the streaming off to other devices. It's not that I mind using multiple user accounts to get around Mac wanting to clobber the data used by other instances of OBS, but I haven't figured out a way to control the instances running on different accounts without locking the screen and switching users. With multiple Macs, I could do remote login, but remote login doesn't work on the same machine. Ssh works, but OBS doesn't operate from the command line (or I haven't figured out how to use it if it does).

    • @TimothyFish
      @TimothyFish 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jasonaa7221, by the way, it appears that vMix is a Windows only product, though they do have a separate product that would allow the Mac to send video and audio to the a Windows machine that is streaming from vMix. If I'm going to do that, I might as well use a Windows machine as the streaming machine to begin with.

    You can actually use the downstream key instead of the upstream key, which is easier imo. You send ProPresenter to the BM switcher with a transparent background. Then add the camera source to your downstream key. You have a dedicated button on the BM switcher that says "DSK 1 mix". That way you always have a dedicated button to add lyrics and take them down easily.

    For smaller churches, the blackmagic atem mini pro will be a huge upgrade and that might be the only piece of equipment you need to buy as it makes your computer think its output is WEBCAM. You can send 3 video inputs directly into it and your propresenter or proclaim output from another laptop into it. More budget friendly IMO than thinking of buying another capture card

      Using the Mini, not the Pro. I saw no advantage to it since we use OBS to live stream to Facebook and have a really decent computer (AMD 1700X, 16GB RAM, AMD Graphics card), but terrible upload internet speed. BUT, you are limited to the length of the HDMI cable and you are able to only go up to 1080HD.
      I looked into getting HDMI to SDI and back, but the cost of the SDI cables is expensive and difficult to find here in Poland.
      Also with OBS, you can record to your computer too.....
      The Atem Mini will allow you to use different frame rate cameras. I have a 50P working with a 60i with the Mini.... There is no multiview with the Mini.

      @@Reyfox1 Re: Mini vs Pro - if you are doing multiple angles, the multi-view alone is worth the price difference in my opinion. I also much prefer hardware encoding than passing the encoding to the computer that is also doing the streaming. When you add the ability to record to multiple disks on the fly to me this PRO is a no brainer if you're starting up. We use the ATEM Studio 4k and I wish it had some of the features of the Mini PRO.

    • @Reyfox1
      @Reyfox1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wysland2210 here in Poland, some things are just plain expensive. Especially with the VAT. Whenever I head Stateside (I'm a native NY'er for 55 years retired living in Poland), I stock up on things that cost less than here.
      I'm not a solder type person. Made that I didn't learn it when I had the chance decades ago. I had someone working for me to do that. But I will investigate!
      As for the Pro, it does have features, but it's twice the price. We have zero budget, so the Mini works. OBS records if we want, but we only stream to facebook. We have 1 camera at the moment and with money permitting, will add a couple more. But that does take money and manpower...

    Hello, I need a little help. I work in TV production. I have two graphics computers that separately send video and alpha key and I wont to send it to the ATM blackmagic switcher via HDMI (4 inputs). I send that signal (video and alpha) as input to the TV video mixer (2 outputs). In case of error, I need to switch the signal from computer 1 to computer 2. But the problem is that I have to send the second alpha video as well. Can I use the program output for video and aux out as alpha key and how can I simultaneously change both signals at once. P.S. Changing the single is the responsibility of the graphics operator, not the main video mixer.Thank you

    I use a ATEM Television Studio HD and control it with a Streamdeck and Companion th-cam.com/video/Xn95LuF6x6I/w-d-xo.html
    Way easier than using the program on the computer. I also have a dedicated Key button to turn lyrics on and off.
    I have 2 feeds from my ProPresenter 7 Computer. One has the lyrics in lower 3rd, with a Chroma Key. The other is a full screen feed which allows me to also use ProPresenter to play videos or other full screen slides without the lower 3rd theme applied. I use Decklink cards in the ProPresenter PC to get multiple outputs with the right screen format and refresh rate for the ATEM.
    I have a dedicated person that runs the ProPresenter 7 PC and I run 3 PTZOptics cameras and switch on the ATEM. The PTZOptics IP joystick along with the Streamdeck are very easy to manage for one person.
    I record to a Hyperdeck Mini, which is not cheap, but the SD cards are easy to handle since I don't edit at the church. The Hyperdeck mini also has multiple SDI outs and HDMI out which allows me to send the output to multiple destinations. I stream using OBS and a decklink card in the video booth PC and also have an TV to monitor the output for the PP7 operator. I am also planning to send that feed to the nursery when Covid has passed.

    Does the USB Webcam Out on the Atem Mini allow you to skip the capture card necessity? We use Ecamm Live, so I would think that we could just put our 2 or 3 cameras and ProPresenter into the Atem, then just do USB out to Ecamm as 1 single camera input and we're good to go. Right?

    Hey Jake! Love the channel...With the ATEM Mini Pro...there is a 4 camera limitation work around! I have a 4K HDMI 4x1 switcher hooked up to input 4. So I have cameras on inputs 1-through 3, and the 4x1 HDMI switcher Box on input #4 (as a sub group)...where I put 2- GoPro's and 2- Panasonic G7's on it, for a total of 7 HD-Cameras Feeds. The only issue is, when I switch through the 4x1 sub-switcher, there's a few millisecond of blackness, as the 4x1 switcher drops one signal and picks up the new selected signal...but I just make sure I have channel 1,2 or 3 on the program feed while I'm selecting the proper camera feed from the 4x1 sub-switcher.

    Yeah.. I have this product and use it for over 4 years now...
    My only problem is that the multiviewer is not working anymore. I see the grid and audio signal is showing on the monitor, but I don't see the images from my cameras. This is very weird. I looked on the internet and many people have this issue and nobody from blackmagic team offered some solutions. It is not about the firmware, it is not about the signals from the sdi/hdmi... something hardware is gone bad.

    For using a mirrorless/DSLR camera in 1080p mode at 30fps to do Zoom conferences: Do you know how the video quality of the Blackmagic ATEM Mini compares to the Magewell Capture HDMI Gen 12 and/or the Elgato Cam Link? If I want to minimize latency, am I better off getting an internal computer card like the Magewell Pro Capture HDMI Card? I heard complaints about certain capture cards that use some form of jpeg compression that reduces the video image quality. Does that really matter? Does a device using USB 2.0 vs USB 3.0 make any difference in latency? (I know the Blackmagic ATEM Mini is a switcher with extra features, but at this temporary point, I'm just trying to understand differences in latency and video quality for each device using 1 mirrorless/DSLR camera.) Thanks.
