The two women saying his job is football commentary and so that's all he should talk about it ridiculous. If what she means is that being on TV talking about football means he can't talk on other platforms about other topics, then that is still ridiculous. What if he was invited on to a radio show (not BBC) or a talk-show? How does this rule apply exactly? How can Andrew Neill write columns for right-wing papers and be a front for so-called 'imaprtial political' BBC TV shows? Typical vox pops with no real thought or reasoning behind the opinions expressed.

the bbc seemingly applied a very different set of standards to Andrew Neil when he was employed by the BBC as a chief political journalist at the same time as he was editor of the Telegraph, a right wing newspaper that, under his watch, published many highly inflammatory and controversial articles that Andrew retweeted on his personal twitter account. In regard to Mr Neil when questioned on impartiality they stated that any views he shared outside his on air capacity as a broadcast journalist were his own and had no impact on his employment by the BBC. But I guess being a football pundit employed to talk about football is a much more politically sensitive position with much greater potential impacts on the BBCs impartiality than head of the politics department of BBC news. Or maybe it's just that he never said anything that upset the tories and right wing media too much

Or there is integrity in having parties when they forbid the people they are meant to serve to attend the funerals of their loved ones? • @patriciasimpson7020

Clarkson did and said things that caused offence or distress for years whilst working for the BBC, in the end they rid of him because he got handsy 🤜👨with a producer, over a cup of coffee no less I believe☕If Lineker had said what he said while he was actually working at the time then that would not be right. But as all he did was express his views on one of his personal accounts he can't be then criticised in any way, simple as. This is why the BBC are now facing the revolt that they have because what they've done by suspending him is completely unacceptable and there is absolutely no excuse for it. What could they possibly use to justify this, that Lineker isn't upholding the image that a BBC presenter is supposed to be projecting, by make a comment on a well known controversial issue?
That of course wouldn't work because regardless if anyone thinks he went to far with what he said, you know comparing the latest government plan on how to tackle the migrant crisis to the mentally of the Nazi's, Lineker was entitled to say what he wants because he's within his rights to do, as long it's not offensive or illegal. Braverman saying she's hurt by what Lineker said as she felt what he said was offensive towards the holocaust survivors, because her husband's Jewish 😂, OH and since her children are half Jewish their direct descendants of the people who the Nazi's murdered she thinks she has the right to speak one their behalf. Their was nothing Lineker said that was anti-Semitic or offensive to the Jewish community at all, what meant with what he said was that he's comparing the cruelty displayed by the government, to that of the Nazi's. And this is government she's part of and where she's been able to make multiple offensive comments, and yet still been able to retain her job.

@@S7Vmv He might be a millionaire. But he wasn't born one. His father was a greengrocer, so he has working class roots and you never forget that. So what if he has money? Does that mean he forfeits the right to speak for disadvantaged people? That would make virtually every politician, from all sides, redundant.
'Illegal immigration causes poverty and crime for all involved' - that is typical of the xenophobic language being promoted by this current government. These people, escaping from war and troubles that we have helped to cause, are housed in a single poorly run hotel room if they're lucky (if they're not lucky they're housed in barracks type hostel dorms and the women are picked off by traffickers) for years at a time, and not allowed to work or contribute to society. No wonder a small number of them are frustrated. Can you imagine if you did the same to a bunch of football fans from the UK? They'd be trashing the place inside of a week, never mind a year. People talk about illegal immigrants as if they are sub-human, conveniently forgetting the hundreds of thousand of brain dead British tourists who flock to other countries and act like Neanderthals.
It's your opinion that's misinformed. Until the government starts to properly process immigrants and get them into work and society, this is always going to be a mess. Other countries have coped with millions of refugees. We can't cope with less than 50,000 illegals despite showing that we can spend billions on worthless PPE. And let's also state that they are only classed as 'illegal immigrants' because the government offers no pathway to become a legal immigrant (unless you're from Ukraine or Hong Kong) to most countries we've invaded, or helped to destabilise. To become a legal immigrant you must have the offer of a job before you get here or British born parents (even then, that comes with strict stipulations). The number of 'illegal immigrants' are dwarfed by legal Hong Kong immigrants, let alone Ukrainians. It shouldn't be that hard to process these people and get them contributing to the economy.
