I think this is the best highlight reel/edit for Thurston out there. Other videos don't do what he did on the field justice. This is brilliant and I loved every second!
My favourite picture of all time, Cowboys win the Grand Final, rest of the team celebrating in front of the crowd, Thurston sitting on the ground with his daughter in his lap playing with her doll. THAT'S a legend.
@@JackJonesProductions Bet thing since Alfie got picked to play State of Origin out of the Ipswich group. Story goes everyone's trying to figure out a defence to cover him and Fatty Vauntin said put him the line, he's a Queenslander, he'll do his job. On to today, great comeback in the 2nd half. Defense was ferocious. Old school stuff. You got the ball you can run wherever you want to but if you run at me it's gonna hurt.
@@mikejames1804 What's more important, a game of football or your child? If you even have to think about the answer you have got your priorities seriously wrong.
The way JT read the game was just so far in front of other players, he would run to the line with ball in 2 hands and defence had no idea if he would pass or throw the dummy
@@JackJonesProductions I fear Locky will be forgotten when its comes to being an Immortal people who claim Slater changed the way fullback is played obviously never watched Locky play 1
From the UK and watching rugby league live I have seen Thurston play for Australia when they have toured and in world club challenge vs Leeds when representing the cowboys and Thurston is the greatest player I have seen live in person. When you focus your eyes just on him you see on the field just how intelligent he was. The way he could dictate a game was superb. If he would have been blessed with blistering pace he would have been truly unstoppable.
Looking at these highlights you realize so much of JT's brilliance was his constant awareness and being on the ball. From one on one strips, intercepts and not being afraid to get up in the line. He always put his body on the line and got hammered but made so many opportunities from that.
JT and Locky, the Greatest Halves Pairing I’ve had the privilege of watching since the birth of Origin, Darren Lockyer owned his craft as a stellar Fullback , but his transition to stand-off and becoming one of the greatest in the 6 jersey the game has produced will always hold him in high regard. As for JT, well, the heart of a Lion, consistency and persistence, the will to never give up, has truly cemented his legacy as the Games greatest Half back.
JT was very football smart, all heart and instinct. Tough as hell, a smaller man against giants, he would make the giants look silly. Brilliance personified. What a kicker of the Football, general play or goal kicking. One word sums Jonathan up Genius!
Jonathan Thurston what you did for the state of Queensland in your last origin match with truly inspirational you are the living breathing example of the Queensland spirit I think you’re the greatest 6 to ever Played the game I want to say thanks for making that she’s not enough you are the king of the North
Everytime I have a bad day...I come back to watch this video. Brightens up my day. Gives me goosebumps everytime. Thanks for this production. Keep them coming...greetings from Rugby league wild country ... Papua New Guinea.
Awesome video mate! JT is the GOAT!! Smith is very good at controlling the game but he could only dream of the amount of clutch plays this bloke has pulled off!! No one follows a play as much as JT he was always there!
Outstanding highlights package for an absolute genius of the game. Always loved watching JT play and I was fortunate enough to meet this legend of our game.
The heart of JT just boggles my mind. He is always near the play in case he is needed and more often than not, he is needed and it results in points or a repeat set. What an inspirational player.
JT has always been my favourite player since I started watching NRL when I was 5. It's never been the same when he left and he's been the GOAT and the best player on the field. I remember those good old days with Slater and Thurston they're amazing, I wish we could go back to those NRL days
QLD were so unstoppable back in the days. Back in the 2000s and even in the 10s but not so much. They 8 year streak was to good. And even the 3 year one. But this year for the QLD team was something else. I believe they can do better. They just weren't woken up yet. #UpTheMaroons 🔊
thurston, cronk, Smith, slater, inglis, love watching them dismantle nsw year in year out for a decade was just brutally damaging for the blue boys. 👑👑❤️❤️💪💪💯💯🙏🙏
When the selection panel for the rugby league Immortals finally gets serious, there WILL be Langer, Lockyer, Smith and Thurston alongside Sterling, joining Beetson, Lewis and Meninga in the hallowed ranks. ALL of them born in Queensland, just sayin' (yep, even Sterlo).

That's the truth 👍
I've seen many tributes to Thurston- this gave me the best SoO thrills all over again! Great job mate
Agree 👍 💯 #Queenslander

To me rugby league has never been the same since JTs retirement. This is an impressive compilation of the legend. Great stuff.
@J G Its not my concern
@J G very irrelevent but ok
The way JT read the game was just so far in front of other players, he would run to the line with ball in 2 hands and defence had no idea if he would pass or throw the dummy
@J G J.T bends the oval shape ball way better than Beckham can with a round one 😆 anyway soccer is for pussycats...meow 👋🤣
Lockyer and JT. Greatest halves pairing ever. 2 future immortals.
100% I still think it’s criminal that Locky isn’t an Immortal yet, people forget how good he was cause of JT, Cronk and Smith playing later then him

Lockyer was always around and his passes were always perfect. Easier to catch than a cold in a plane.
Thurston is one of the greatest banana benders. Just like his goal kicking! Go Queensland!
Im a rooster and blues supporter , but jt is the best player ive seen in the last 40 + years , just never gives up .
Same. Chookies and a die hard blues supporter but Thurston was my favourite to watch.
Very true bro
Convert brah
I will remember JT for his banana kicks. It's like, "wow! How did he do that?" Really unbelievable.
