      So what happens if you get a flat tire? Gotraz only sells 8x5" inch honeycomb solid tires. Are you supposed to keep buying a new tire & tube everytime u get a flat or is their a place that sells good 10" inch t honeycomb/solid tires for gotrax?

      @@Jay-qj9zk I honestly don't know, because the only flat tire I had was on my GoTrax XR, which we replaced with the honeycomb tire WITH GREAT DIFFICULTLY! But, GoTrax probably just expects you to buy a new tube.

      @@RandomTechVideos that's very hard work. It's hell to take off the tire itself, then to put it back in. Such a shame they don't have 10" solid tires. Will probably have to get some solid ones from a third party company on amazon

    Important point about the one disc brake. I've seen the advertising stating 2 brakes and was taken in by it

    • @RandomTechVideos
      @RandomTechVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dual braking system actually refers to the disc brake plus regenerative braking. However, since they're both on the same wheel, the regenerative braking system is basically useless.
      That's how they get away with saying "Dual Braking System"... but that picture on the website is quite misleading!

    I own the scooter and I like it very much. The brakes do an adequate job. However, I have had to adjust them a few times because the brake lever on the handle bar gets mushy and I want it to be more responsive. Their customer service is terrible but so are other scooter customer service now with Covid. I like the cruise control when I use it on paths and sidewalks. The cable lock is a good idea and the grocery hooks are good for small loads.

    awesome video dude! hows the scooter been holding up? i got a G3 from walmart for around 460$ with tax, it has 350w 32v 7.8ah max speed 15.5 and goes around 13-14 miles on real rides for me, do you think i should have gotten the one you have? also do you think the G3 is a good deal? there isnt much info about it. and i agree with you! Gotrax false advertises all their scooters. on their site the G3 says it does 18mph but it is just a 15.5 which is what i would expect anyway. please get back to me maybe thanks!! would love an update on it

    • @RandomTechVideos
      @RandomTechVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Now let me answer your questions.
      The advertising for the G3 says, "The G3 reaches speeds up to 15 miles per hour and travels up to 18 miles per charge". Not 18mph. My statement about false advertising refers to the claim of up to 25 miles of range on the G4, when the most I have ever gotten was around 14 or 15 (on a level surface, without starting and stopping, and me weighing under 150 lbs; basically a best case scenario).
      Based on what I have seen, the main difference between the G3 and G4 is that the G4 has 10 inch tires instead of 8.5 inch, goes up to 20mph, and has a built in combination lock right above the folding mechanism.
      I haven't been riding my scooter as much lately, but I still do when I can. Currently at about 2000 miles on it. Had the throttle go bad once, but GoTrax replaced it under warranty. Also had one tire blowout. Replaced with an aftermarket 10 inch tire since GoTrax's "replacement parts" are NEVER in stock. Other than that, it still rides fine. I don't notice significant range degradation currently, however I can't be sure.

    • @TheRealElectricOutdoors
      @TheRealElectricOutdoors 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RandomTechVideos I appreciate the response! Did the spring mechanism go bad in your throttle like it wouldn’t snap back up? Or did it just die? And my G3 actually has the cable lock built in your speaking of also, with the four digit old style bike lock combination hahaha the cable is a decent thickness I’d say though in a pinch.

    • @RandomTechVideos
      @RandomTechVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRealElectricOutdoors The spring failed, so the throttle would get jammed and I'd have to force it back up. Also, it would think the throttle was being pressed when it wasn't. This failure happened at around 875 miles.

    • @RandomTechVideos
      @RandomTechVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My main issue with the XR is that all the weight is in the front tube and it's front wheel drive, so it tips over or loses control easily. So you don’t have to push the scooter faster or double pump the throttle, you only have to Waite two seconds after you push off, then the display will change from odometer to speedometer then hit the throttle and you are good to go. ……….
