      i thought he was a clear GC contender from just looking at him riding early in the season.
      So i always wondered a bit why people thought like that.
      Got a bit cocky on the cobblestones though the "balls" comment was bound to come back and bite him in the ass :P

      A lot of people thought he will get weak in third week "as usual" but in reality his first Giro was his first race after Lomarbia crash, his second Giro he got sick, he won his first Vuelta and he only had one bad day at his second but bounced back with polka dot jersey. Most of his tendancy to decrease in form was due to his young age and some bad luck. For someone who starder cycling late it is not a surprise.

    i really hate it that some countries think cycling is all and only about the tour de france, this interviewer is the same, the 3 best cyclists in the world, jsut because these 3 make the podium. world championships, the 5 classics races and the 2 other grand tours dont mean anything to them. well i guess its mostly the english speaking countries, GB and USA who think like that, but in almost all other cycling countries the top 3 in the tour are not automatically the best 3 cyclists in the world. but yea i guess thats because english speaking countries dont have much history in cycling so their knowledge is also very lacking. sorry i had to get this of my chest, tho i do recognize these 3 as one of the top riders in the world, there are more cyclists that are not able to win the tour de france due to their body shape, but they do win many races and even defeat these top 3 riders (altho Vingegaard doesnt even ride 1 day races), like MvdP, van Aert. what if van der Poel wins the olympics, then he is defending world champion on the road and in cyclocross, back to back winner in Roubaix, tour of flanders winner (arguably the 2 most important one day races) and olympic champion, yet Vingegaard, who only got 2nd in the tour and for the rest nothing would still be a better cyclist?!

    • @dlckddyd76

      Tbh if not them? Who would you put ahead of these guys? You can't really say it's false narrative that they're being called the best without giving some input on whom should be mentioned as better?

    • @joowsty

      @@dlckddyd76 Well I did point that out, it was a long text but it does say who. and to be clear, Pogacar is the best rider in the world, but i dont see why Vingegaard and Evenepoel would be better cyclists then Van der Poel or van Aert (this year van Aert isnt that good but we all know why that is). like i pointed out Van der Poel is defending world champion road and cyclocross, back to back Roubaix winner, tour of Flanders winner, comapre that to what Evenepoel and Vingegaard won this year (altho world champion TT for Evenepoel is also really good), specially Vingegaard, does a 2nd place in the Tour and a really small 1 week race win really outweigh to all van der Poels wins?

    • @dlckddyd76

      @@joowsty well 2 guys you named are sprinters.. are you saying best sprinters are the best riders? if so? you have an argument but is cycling all about sprinting? if so? pogi and evenpoel isn't even in top 20. JV isnt even in top 50.

    • @joowsty

      @@dlckddyd76 no im not saying that, on top of that Van der Poel and Van Aert are not just sprinters, they are classic riders or one day racers. im just saying that not only the top 3 in the Tour de France count as the best riders, there are more important races like the world champs, the 5 classics and the other 2 grand tours.
      van der Poel for example is known for having the best 10 seconds efforts and repeating them more than anyone else (thats how he became world champion last year), im saying this just to show that there is more to cycling then being able to be the best in long climbs. to be clear, someone who only wins bunch sprints is by far one of the best cyclists in the world.

    • @dlckddyd76

      @@joowsty well I think there's a mistaken of understanding. What TDF is? Is that it's combination of multiple races and who ever has best avg time at the end makes them the winner. So a rider who is good at certain things and not so good at others are tend to be not favorable. Instead if someone is above avg at everything instead of best at something is considered as better overall rider. So someone who is good but not excellent at everything might be considered to be a better rider as posed to someone who is good at 1-2 things but below avg at rest maybe considered not the best. It's like 100 meter runner vs marathon vs triathlon. Triathlons might not be the best at any of the things they do but they are probably are the best athletes

    i'm not biased in saying this but honestly, i think out of everyone remco won the most in this tour on a moral and psychological level. he surprisingly had a great attitude towards adversity and not being numero 1. and on a physical level i think he needs to get even better in the climbs if he wants to compete with jonas primoz and pogi.

      Remco saw Primoz as his rival for third place and Jonas sitting in the wheels on the gravel stage, scuppered the chance of putting big time into him. It is understandable Remco was annoyed, but Jonas did what was best for himself.
