Kids need hero’s to inspire them for great things. These spur of the moment gestures can change lives. Long ago my boyfriend kept a picture of a race car from a magazine on his nightstand to look at every night. We were at a race one day and I said, “Look! There is that car” We met the owner/driver of the Sport Renault and have been friends ever since. My boyfriend turned husband eventually became a pro driver in endurance racing. Dreams start with an inspiration and those who reach back having once arrived can fuel a generation of good. This boy is going to accomplish great things. He has supportive parents and a hero to keep him inspired.

What a great story, I remember seeing him hand the bottle to him during the Giro thinking that the young guy would cherish it. But doing something like this for the impressive young guy, will encourage him to strive for his dream, just as Tadej did years ago when he started out. I saw him at the TDU in 2019 and even then he seemed to be a level headed young man. He just gets more impressive all the time. Young guys like Mattia are the possible pros of the future and displays like this and what Tadej did on the mountain will stay with them for life and make them strive for the stars.
