they are fighting. never keep the males in a small tank. when you have a 600l tank tou maybe can have 3 or 4 couples but this is not good. you see the other was loose the fight and almost death. they fight to death for territory

Indeed. A 150cm tank (between 300-350 liters) should be just enough for 2 pairs (confirmed couples), with the condition that you provide them with way more plants and hiding spaces (and less bright light!) than shown in the video, so that they can retreat from each other whenever needed.
My personal preference goes to the Microgeophagus Altispinosa though, which can be kept in a community tank in a group and who isn't as picky when it comes to water parameters, providing that you give them plenty of space and lots of hiding places like rock work, wood and plants.

@@TheOpelkoenjas how would one go about acquiring a confirmed couple when you go to buy them and they're sold as juveniles and as such unsexable let alone... paired fucking up lol

It seriously ticks me off when I see people buy fish in the spur of the moment and do no research at all - or very little - before purchasing them. These little fellows are clearly males and are fighting over territory, and they WILL continue fighting until one perishes and dies, if not both. They are kept in a way too small tank (length wise), with no proper hiding places and way to bright light for them. I can guarantee you that at least one didn't make it!
People, do your research BEFORE you go buy fish, ffs. Don't go entering a fish store and just go buy a fish because "Oh wow, that one looks nice, let me buy it!". And don't always believe what the seller of that store tells you: DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH! Even if it takes weeks, or even months, not like right there and then in the store and only doing a 5-10 minutes "research"!! Take your time, there's plenty of information available on the internet, USE IT!
Greetings from a seriously ticked off tropical fish keeper!

Well thing about research is it envariably will lead you to no conclusion because there will be different people with different experiences and different opinions... bottom line is the only way to know for sure how something will go is to try it for yourself. Nothing erong with a little sparring anyway, its perfectly natural part of animal behaviour. A complete lack of it would likely be unhealthy in of itself. Theyre cichlids, this is what they do. Your criticising these conditions but you can't tell anything from this footage of the size of tha tank at all. We only ever see one area, for all we know they both have there own separate territories at opposite ends of the tank and this is them just stumbling over each other organically. You are making many assumptions with fuck all to back them up based on opinions which are just that... opinions

yes i watched and nah mate its all just opinions. this isnt pbs spacetime, were not talking about the laws of physics here were talking about animal behavior... and psychology aint a science, take it from a from a psychology student
