      @@denzky23 What are you talking about? He literally says exactly what he does. Its really not as difficult as some people make it out to be. The fish lay the eggs, the eggs hatch and the fry stay clumped up for a day or two, then theyre free swimming. One parent usually guards them from the other. If after 3 try's of breeding the parents arent taking care of them, he removes the eggs and hatches them in a breeding box.

      Dean is the man. Thing is, he doesnt need to make youtube videos, and theres too much work in it. He's interested in traveling, collecting fish, breeding fish and enjoying his fish.

    Wow I went to Aquarium co-op 5/6/18 and bought 15 black neon tetras on sale! And the gbr's really caught my eye. So I bought a male and female, tonight 5/11 they spawned and guarding eggs in the quarantine tank. I just want to thank everyone at Aquarium co-op. Great experience and I will definitely be back.

    I am a concreter.., in the "OLD" days we used to throw the colour on top of the concrete.., ochre mixed with cement to make a coloured driveway, patio, etc.
    I found the best thing to clean it off me was Morning Fresh.., an anti bacterial. anti fungal dish washing liquid......, that was 40 years ago and I am STILL using it to this day.
    I use it as my daily shower soap and I found that it will clear up tinnea almost instantly (bonus discovery) and it makes the perfect wetter soil for your garden as it doesn't contain any salts.
    I use it on everything.., including cleaning MY aquariums and filter and have never had any fish die from it. ha

    Best GBR breeding video on TH-cam. One question NOT answered is "What event, when, or how many days after hatching do you first offer food to the fry?" Is it when they are first free swimming? When the yolk sack seems to be absorbed? Inquiring minds want to know!

    Methylene blue is a solid go-to and it works. I had a pretty sizable angelfish operation going for awhile and I had better hatch rates on my eggs using hydrogen peroxide as an anti-fungal. If you're removing the eggs, it helps to have a gentle airstone adjacent to the eggs to keep clean, oxygenated water flowing over the eggs.

    Thank you, Dean! I'm on my second clutch of GBR fry, thanks to Cory and your advice! Keep it coming! Question: I added 1 tsp methylene blue to the 10 gallon a day before the eggs were laid. When do i start to remove the methylene blue from the 10 gallon? The first clutch didnt fungus, but every clutch since has fungused. Trying to prevent it! Thank You!!!

    • @deansfishroom
      @deansfishroom 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of 1 tsp of methylene blue is waaaaaaaaayy too much for a ten gallon tank. 5-8 drops per gallon is plenty. Of course if yours is already very diluted it might be different. I start removing the methylene blue with small water changes as soon as I see the fry wiggling. If all of your eggs are fungusing you may not have a viable pair, I would change the male out.

      Most move the net way to quickly for the fish and freak them out. Once that happens it becomes harder and harder to catch them.
