Biggest improvement i made to my game last year was practicing shots from about 115 yard's and less on a disused football pitch at the back of my home. My scoring tumbled as a result and so did my handicap now 3.4. unfortunately it's now been fenced off ready for development building a couple of houses. Going to miss it, but hopefully I've ingrained the feeling i practiced. My grandson has started playing, we go to a local par 3 course I've explained to him that shots 125 yards in will help you more with scoring and getting handicap down than bashing balls at the driving range. I've had days where my ball striking has been dreadful yet scored well because of lots of this type of practice, this is the fastest way to get ones handicap down fast
What a superb video right up my street I love to create shots and this explanation is so simple and very easy to put into play. This is something I can really work on. Thank you Alex.
Good review for me. Lack of play took its toll on my approach game. Find myself trying to scoop the ball into the air and coming up 3-5 yards short of green. Thanks
This is my biggest weakness right now. Up and down from 50-100 yds is barely 10% with a 6 hcp. I totally forgot about this system and need to relearn my distances.
Alex, thank you! I cannot wait to get to the range and try this out. Particularly the feet and shoulder set up. Hopefully, I can get the ball heading at the pin, and not just the green.
Our course has gone from boggy mud to hard green in 2 weeks. I lost all confidence in distance - I saw this video went to the course on 2 evenings, practices the set-up and recorded my distances for the 3 positions. My last two rounds I’ve stood over 30-90 yard shots with loads of confidence. With the confidence I commit and the club to ball makes that gorgeous sound and finishes on the green with a chance to drop the putt…my main point is always to keep weight on front foot (you don’t major on this in the video but I find this stops all the fats and thins). Thanks so much for the direction…⛳️
I feel more comfortable standing open and think this is good instructions. I find it interesting that a lot of pros are now choosing to stand closed. Cam Smith and Patrick Reed are 2 who do this and I saw a couple on the European tour also standing closed.
Apparently i was always under the wrong assumption that feet shoulders and club path were supposed to be parallel on every shot. Can't wait to try this. How about a video about correcting straight pulls and pull hooks. When I hit the ball good, it's dead straight down the middle. But when I'm off. I get the worst pulls and pull hooks and when I try to correct it, I overcompensate and push slice it.
Do you open up the face a little on these like you do on the green side chips? I’m having trouble with digging on green side chips, trying to understand at what distance I need to open the club face a little
Alex. This suggestion maybe even more powerful than you initially state, given you most recent video. I have read that a right flared foot (in some players) can cause over rotation and getting the club behind you (which includes me). If you go inward on the trail foot this definately stops this over rotation and this you suggest is bad for basic chipping or pitching (and presumably short sand shots) in your latest TH-cam video.
Question Alex of the 3 different swings at what distance should we use what type of swing as this is where I make my biggest mistakes is by misjudging distances since I don't use a viewfinder or any gadgets I just go by distance posts that are on golf course.
Alex, my grandson is just now taking up golf. He is 18 and got his first set of clubs yesterday . What is the most important shot he should work on first. I told him he needs to develop accuracy and distance will come later. It seems most new golfers try to hit it far without first developing basic skills, such as chipping , pitching and putting. Am I wrong?
It might be the angle of the camera but did you move the ball closer to your lead foot for the 2nd and 3rd shot? Should it move forward or stay roughly in the same place in the stance for every swing type? Great video, thank you!
Been searching for this vid again to build a wedge system. glad i found it. I want to use this simple easy to memorize system to control my distances across my wedges/ scoring clubs. I just have to ask, was your clubface square all throughout. Do we even have to squeeze-in varying degrees of open clubface within this fixed system? I wonder how complicated would it be if i were to open the clubface in 2 variations for each of those 3 shots per club? Would my distances just overlap too much? When should we insert an open face technique across those shots?🙂 Thanks in advance and i apologize for the long composition by the way sir😅
Great to hear this will help. Yes my clubface was square, i personally would vary the degrees but you don't have to. I certainly think it is worth trying what you are suggesting as it sounds like a great idea.
I have to give you a lot of credit; this is the best short pitch training video I’ve ever seen. Many thanks and keep the good work!
Wow, thanks!

I love all your videos ! And.....is that a blade of grass on your ear ?

Great lesson and drill! Thanks!
Great lesson!
Glad you liked it!

Best of luck! Let me know how you get on Russel!!

Brill, happy to help!!

Great advice Alex. Thank you.
Superb video. Waited for this from you. Thank you.
Most welcome 😊
Going to give this a right go mate. Thank you. I enjoy your videos.
Always good help to know thank you.

Another great video Alex

All good stuff but this assumes you have mastered a consistent strike. That’s a big assumption for most amateurs especially as the loft increases. 😊
Keep your weight on the front foot - Alex says this but it is very quick and easy to miss - and swing smooth with COMMITMENT
Thanks. I will focus on that.

I would let the club decided so work out how far they go for that club using the positions.
But as a tough guide i would say 40 - 110 yards
Definitely something I will try.
Hope you enjoy

You are spot on; i wouldn’t even bother with driver yet too! I would start work irons and get comfortable with them !
love the video just one question,
is the club face pointing at target or is it open?
target
At set up, are hands and club grip in front of the golf ball? Shaft lean.
Yes that’s right

yeah it was the camera angle

@@AlexElliottGolf thanks alex. Will exoeriment on this. Will start square first just like you
Is this the same set up for a shot just off the green maybe 5 yards or so?
Yeah!
02:57 This doesn't look like the ball is in the back? Can someone correct me
I think it could be the camera angle
@@AlexElliottGolf Possibly. Great video either way, I'm playing a round in a few hours. I hope to try this!
S K Y H I G H ! Cheers Alex!
You have probably already done this video but set up for each club wedge iron driver etc.
Will cover this!
@@AlexElliottGolf thanks! If you could make it as simple as possible that would be great 😂
It looks like you are playing the ball off your left heal. Even though you said play it back in the stance
