- Ironstone Concours d' Elegance 2023. This event is run by many of the same people who run the Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance. It raises money for 4-H and FFA programs in and around Calaveras County. My daily driver 1931 Ford Model A Sport Coupe makes its return to the Ironstone Concours field after its Best in Class win last year. It was ineligible for judging this year.

@@ModelA then I’m ancient. They have had to battle S.F. over the years to keep it going as the City is anti cars. Are you going to talk about how the State/C.A.R.B. is going to try to regulate pre (I think) 1977 vehicles to limited miles driven.
@@56Spookdog If that happens, then I will report on it for sure. Right now, it looks like the blue counties are the ones pushing for it. My county is very red and is against it.

I never get tired of seeing those wonderful old timey machines. The GE truck really caught my eye, what a nice looking truck, I think it would fit under my car port! I must thank you for all your videos, the cars you have are really cool; I work seven days a week, often 10 or more hours a day... to properly maintain a rig, I don't even wash my MDX as often as I would like, & yes, the AWD does take extra work, but not too often. The Japanese make it easy to do the work, not like Mercedes or BMW that don't even have dipsticks to check the oil level. But, The A, that is still more time than I would want to pull from other things like my garden or home upkeep. Yep, painting the house is coming up, as is landscaping, with drip, & I know that will require electrical & plumbing. I do love to see the older rigs still going - gives me hope I will too :-) Thank you...
I work 60 hours per week on average, and on call 24/7. I also volunteer for my county Sheriff's office a day per week. C'mon, man! Model As don't take that much time. Just buy one that is already sorted to start with and all you'll have to do is routine maintenance. Same goes for ANY used car.
Happiness is looking in your rear view mirror and seeing a Model A following you. 😀
One of the things I like about this car show besides seeing these fantastic looking vehicles is hearing them.
As a kid growing up in Arcadia, California in the sixties I would often hear and then see a Model T or Model A drive up the street. Hearing these cars can evoke a lot of wonderful memories.

My dad and I have decided to overhaul a '29 Pickup together, and we're having trouble getting the doors to stay closed neatly against the body. They tend to 'pop' open a little while driving. Any tips on getting the doors to stay nicely shut?

@@ModelA Yeah...a lot going on right now. With Zack being a Senior now and busy with so many things and I am still dealing with some health issues, we have been taken a break for now. With Zack in soccer, has work, doing homework, and school, that does not leave much left for anything else. Plus with this continued health journey that I am on and waiting on the Lord, we have thought taking a break would be the best. When we start back as well, it will probably be just me for the most part. It was a great journey with Zack for the past 5 years or so, but his interests are in other things now. He is busier now and thinking of the future. We knew this would happen sometime, just did not know when. It is all good though! Have a great weekend my friend and take it easy. God bless!
Understood. Time marches on, as the song goes... But he will certainly look back on those videos someday and be thankful for the time you spent as a team. Probably long after his teen years are past!

I have always liked Cowl lights on 30's and 31's.How come you do not have any on your 31 coupe?
My coupe is a standard. Only the deluxe had cowl lights.

Take the car off the trailer and take a nice leisurely drive to Gilmore. We can take the ferry across Lake Michigan wow what fun. I have done it a few times😃

Is it me or do those straps look too small to hold your car if you had to stop fast or rear ended someone?
Supposedly, those straps are strong enough to lift the car. Who knows.
You need to be certain of the WLL of your tie downs and the anchor points on the trailer. Hauling vehicles is a serious safety concern.
Hi Paul, I would like to learn to drive a Model A but I am confused on one point: When stopping the car (for a stop sign) do you push in the clutch then the brake, or just the brake? Thanks

Paul I need your advice. Removing lug studs for new ones. Was told to drill down about 1inc and tap out. This doesn't work!

I think Paul the very early VW didn't have a fuel gauge but they had a small tap thing under the dash, it was a "Reserve Tank" switch. I think it gave you an extra gallon of fuel to get you out of trouble. Love your music, cheers and god bless you and T.

Thank you! No, didn't cover it. I need to get a cover that fits it someday. The cover that fits the green coupe doesn't fit the sport coupe properly.

@@ModelA As a baby boomer, the time before I wore clothes would be pre-63! I can get into that.
A list of hits only from the thirties would still be fairly large. Shaw, Goodman, Dorsey, Miller and so many more. Helen O'Connell sang with Jimmy Dorsey's band and is an unknown today. She was great! What a shame that the kids today may never hear her voice and her body of work! Look up 'Green Eyes'. A simply amazing period of time for great compositions and stellar performances. PS I know more about the early 1900's music than the recent 2000's!

Paul. Watched the story about the chrysler turbine car and how they picked people to drive it for 90 days. Then chrysler decided all but 3 of those cars had to be destroyed. I remember ur 1 video you were awe struck by the gimores turbine car. Imagine if you could drive that car for 90 days.

5:27 The Clayton's need one of those 1930s the refrigerators for the back of their fabulous truck, But then I looked on eBay and they want over 500 bucks.
My guess is that truck is worth a lot. $500 for an old fridge is probably a drop in the bucket compared to that lovely 66A

It is well known that open trailer with a car cover is a BIG no-no. They flap in the wind and cause major damage. An acquaintance had a CCPU that had the cover rub right through to bare metal in places.
