I am an 82 year old male crocheter who started at age 11 (yes, I’ve been crocheting for over 70 years). I first tried Tunisian about 40 years ago when making the background fabric for a Bernat cross stitch afghan. The instruction sheet walked me through what I now know was the simple stitch to make the afghan strips. I finished the project, put away the afghan hook, and forgot all about it until I started watching your videos and tutorials about 2 weeks age. You fired me up, girl! Now (after a couple days practice) I’m working on a lace stitch Tunisian scarf project. Can’t wait to see where I go from there.

Tunisian is one of the first things my grandmother taught me over 60 years ago. Until I found you, I only knew the simple stitch, which I grew up calling it the Afghan stitch. I’ve definitely moved on, making several of your patterns. Your tutorials, and your book, are wonderful. Thank you for promoting this wonderful craft.

Tunisian crochet is really easy, I think if you have knowledge of crochet. It’s so much fun. Jayda In Stitches did a Tunisian calendar blanket in 2022. All the tutorials are in her web site.

I’m 75 now, but when I was young even though I crocheted (Grandma taught me), when I saw a book with how to Tunisian crochet I just assumed it was hard - I was thrown off by the name “Tunisian”. It’s foreign like learning a new language, so it will be hard. I had enough hard things in my life so I said I'll pass. There were no videos and definitely no Toni Lipsey to show me how easy it really is. After I retired and saw your videos I gave it a try and I was hooked. My favorite blanket I made is Tunisian. Love you❤️

I learned Tunisian crochet via your TH-cam channel. I bought your book (Absolutely amazing!!!), and made the braided headband, made it a bit bigger and added more yarn to make it a cowl and then emailed you a picture of my daughter modeling the two pieces. When you emailed me back with positive feedback, I was completely blown away and felt like a school girl meeting her fave celeb!
My advice to any newbies is to learn from you! Your voice is comforting, your instructions and tutorials are simple and easy to grasp, and your glowing personality brightens up the darkest days!
Thank you, Toni, for all that you bring to the world of crafting!

I just started Tunisian crochet and coming from someone who has been doing “traditional” crochet up until now I am in LOVE with this style. To anyone nervous to start I actually think it’s much easier than traditional crochet especially when working with difficult yarn such as a stiff cotton. I am having difficulty learning how to add on to pieces that I’ve created to extend one side or another, if you have a video on that? Just found your channel and I love it so far! The craft community on TH-cam is top tier 👏 !

I love tunisian crochet because it's fun and it creates beautiful fabrics! I taught myself in 1988 by reading a pattern book so I could make my firstborn's special blanket. We still have it and it was so much fun to learn something new in crochet as I was going to learn life lessons as a new parent. I love it most because it looks like knitting(which I don't know how to do) and can follow a graph to make pictures and color changes easily. I also love watching your videos! Thanks!

I love Tunisian crochet. I was purging and found a bunch of skeins bought for a project and decided to make a rectangular Tunisian Entrelac blanket for my livingroom. One skein matched my new couch. I also found an old pattern for a dinosaur Tunisian blanket. Squares are 12x12 and then you cross stitch the dinosaurs onto the front. Tunisian simple stitch makes it easy to make and X. I plan to sew flannel on back of completed blanket.

I started crocheting nearly 5 years ago, about a year and a half ago, I started tunisian. I love both equally but I go to tunisian for colorwork. Not having to turn the work is a gamechanger. I used tunisian to make a piano pattern scarf and being able to carry the colors saved me so much time. I'm now making a gingham print baby blanket for my choir director who's having a baby using the same technique

Toni, Since you are such a fan of Tunisian, you might want to delve into trying double-ended Tunisian crochet. I got really hooked on it several years ago. I started my Tunisian crochet adventure with Toni's Entreat Shawl. I watched a bunch of TLYC videos on Tunisian and few in Enterlac (that is the technique in this shawl) and bought my yarn. Some would say this is more difficult than standard Tunisian, but who doesn't love a challenge - right? Now I have made a bunch of shawls. For me they are a socially acceptable blanket to take to church. The ONLY shawl anyone has ever stopped and asked about is Toni's Entreat. They admire the intricacies of it. Little do they know how simple it really is. I am now making my third version for someone from church. They pay for the yarn and I stitch. @tlyc if you are looking for a content idea - a tutorial for this would be great. I couldn't find one on your channel. If it is there - pls point me in the direction. Also, if you could also do one showing how to do it straight across for a square or rectangle and also how to decrease a CTC to go from a triangle to a square or rectangle would also be great. Just food for thought!

I haven’t been using tunisian crochet for a few months. Prior to that I was an avid crocheter who coveted knit using striped yarns. I love that I can get that same effect with tunisian! I thank you so much because most of my projects so far are from watching you!

I am so excited to join the Tunisian course and CAL with you and Michigan Fine Yarns! I learned Tunisian basics from your TH-cam videos, and have a copy of your book. I'm looking forward to learning more about some of the basic stitches. I still struggle with Tunisian Knit stitch!

Several years ago, I was part of a crochet group and our ‘leader’ had a session on Tunisian crochet. I did all right with the group, but it fell apart on my own. I’m so glad I have you now!

This was the first thing i learned while crocheting 🎉 after getting a few different stitches down in tunisian crochet every other crochet or knitting stitches seemed a little easier

I’ve done Tunisian crochet before but didn’t enjoy it until I watched your video on the different hook sets and bought a set of Clover hooks. (I like bamboo hooks in general). They’ve made Tunisian crochet so much more fun! So my advice to anyone new to TC is invest in some decent hooks, then practice! It takes time to learn a new skill, even when it’s similar to ones you know.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I've found that quality hooks can make or break someone's success in learning, and your story is a testament to that. Happy stitching!!

i only know the basic Tunisian stitch so this is my first time hearing about other stitch patterns
but even just the basic Tunisian stitch already helps my crochet
i use it in tandem with tall crochet stitches to stabilize them by connecting them to the post of the previous crochet stich
this speeds up my crochet by allowing me to use double treble crochet with the stability of double crochet
not sure if this is already an existing stitch but i found it independently which i'm proud of

I'm 62 and I know I did the stitch in my teens like 45 years ago I remember doing it, but not sure if I ever completed anything but I do have the hook and a finished blanket in my closet that I found at my mom's house after she passed away and it was my blanket as a kid, it's Tunisian (its a really detailed blanket with roses on it, and I don't know if I would have had the patience to do something like that), so its crazy that I can't remember if I made it or not, my aunt taught me to crochet and taught me the Tunisian stitch so she may have made the blanket for me. But I'm going to watch your tutorials and learn how to do it again.

Hi I just learned about Tunisian crochet and I just got my Tunisian crochet hooks. They work great for knitting and crochet. I am still practicing with the Tunisian crochet stitch. Right now I am single crocheting a towel yarn blanket for my cat. This yarn is hard to work with. I did make her a peg loom blanket from this yarn. My needles are not long enough to Tunisian crochet her a blanket. I am back and forth between the single crochet and learning Tunisian crochet. This is probably my third day into it. I just made about 3 jasmine stitch hats and my granddaughter a jasmine stitch blanket.

Just found out today that my great grandmother was a Tunisian crocheter! My mom gave me a blanket that her grandma crocheted because my mom knew that I would be the only one of her children who would appreciate the blanket. I was really surprised to see that the entire blanket was done in TSS! I feel connected to my great grandmother in a way I haven't before. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us, Toni! Because of your channel, I was inspired to try this craft.
