Agreed,but this one is gonna cost about 2K ,so gonna fight directly with Dave Smith,Korg and more..would be hard for Novation.

@@oranebeast The Digitone Keys is anormal Digitron with glued keyboard at double price.It looks like they are trying to rid off of unsold stock Digitone motherboards in their warehouse....

Calc and Cuckoo chatting... the best background for synth performance ;) Peak is the best synth in my studio. It is great that Novation made a keyboard version.
Whatever this is now, it will have some mad firmware upgrades in 3 years, if the BS2 is anything to go by.
User waves will be my favorite addition.
The best thing about this is you know Novation will still give amazing support to Peak and all their other gear. I fanboy hard for them.

@@BoBeats I agree. The support on the Circuit is second to none. I wasn't a Peak fan as I prefer keys and the sound wasn't really my cup of tea but I think the Summit just might be the Blue Mountain coffee lol
@@RoomAtTheTopStudio - I love my Peak. But no synth is everything to everyone. The Summit may well come closer than most though, and hopefully it will cost a lot less than the Moog One.
@@ConwayBob hopefully it's easier to operate than the Moog One too. I must admit I've heard some patches that Bo played here that caught my attention. Maybe this could beat the Moog Matriarch or the Minilogue XD as the analogue, analogue/digital hybrid polysynth of the year

I tried all the poly synths for the last year ( including osmose) and pound for pound this synth is the obvious choice.The effects for sound design alone are worth it! Also the ability to create custom wave tables is a big super power that can take it along way into the future. And it’s built like a tank and has a great feeling synth keyboard . So I’m now anxiously awaiting one! 👽

Looks like Novation are taking aim at the high end DSI market. I guess we'll be seeing more Peaks bouncing around the secondhand market now.
I have waited patiently for this day. That, and people swapping out their digitones for keys. Never thought I would ever see digitones on the used market.

I'm happy when I see that new synths have a fresh take on things and can help us generate new sounds and timbres.
This is one of them and I wish that more companies would take a leap of faith into the bright and unknown future and design new, ballsy and future proof machines, rather than remaking, copying, modelling, recopy the copy of remodels of old gear....
Wow that patch at 4:18 is fantastic. Some really great sounds here. The Peak was already lustworthy enough. Then you add dedicated knobs for all LFOs, bi-timbrality, and a nice keyboard. Oh man. 😅
Bo, I would love to see an in-depth with you and the Summit, now that it's about to be released/shipped. This is a synth I've truly been excited about (and yet can't possibly afford, Lol).

This is soooooooooooooo my jam. Adding it to my wishlist even if I know I'll never have the room or the dough to get it :D
That bass at 3:30 is juicy. I really think this is such a fantastic synth and the one to beat right now. Sure others have more of this or that but this thing is packed with usually features, the user interface is fantastic and well thought out, the range of sounds is broad and the price ain’t bad. Compare this to Prologue...similar hybrid design, same price, but much more flexible in terms of modulation and oscillator and filter choice....oh and aftertouch. Compared to a rev 2...similar modulation options but again much more flexible in oscillator and filter choice. It has a great deal in common with the Moog one and surpasses it in some ways, for $6K less. And judging from what I’ve gotten out of a peak it can sound every bit as vintage and thick as a P/Ob6. Hats off. Great job. The only things it can’t touch right now are the Quantum and Prophet X but those are different beasts. Can’t wait for this.

I am verrrry interestend how analog it sounds. The price is good and the functions are rock on. Hopefully it's good sound as it was described.

It seems like a modern Jupiter 8. I'm wondering if the modulation can be used to create DSI-like slop on analog emulation patches. May replace some of my vintage and modern polysynths with this... more reliability and less space.

Is the engine any different than the Peak? I have a Peak sitting right next to me right now (and a Circuit FWIW).
Same engine with a few additions like split and layered sounds

Man how do I decide between this, an OB6, or a P6... too difficult, they all sound too good :D, but I cant get all 3 (as much as I want to)
Perseus3248M get a OB6, it has more character- real wow sound, the peak/summit loses (don’t own both other but playing the them). Even the Korg Prologue sounds huge!
@@HOLODECK-MUSIC-PROJECT I second the OB6.
I had both ob6 and peak. Those are not even comparable by sound. Peak sounds very sterile. But OB6 is quite limited in modulation. I actually sold both. My best sounding synths are Microwave 1, Matrix 1000, ESQ-1, DSS-1, P12 and Alpha Juno 2. I have much more. But those are the best sounding devices. Edit: you can compare OB6 with PolySix - huge sound, but patches are lacking variety.
Buy a guitar 🎸.
the peak sound is more on the neutral side, well one could say sterile, well if u like neutral..... But I also second @Eugene the Matrix 1000 has this warm fuzzy-ness and is plain awesome.

@@tonalaxis i've seen press description saying it's same as SL MkIII (novation midi keyboard), if you're able to go instore and test one of those out "Control-wise, Summit uses the same semi-weighted 61-note keyboard as Novation’s recent SL MkIII controllers, which impressed us a lot when we reviewed them last year. As with that controller, the keyboard here is aftertouch-equipped.

It kills me that this amazing engine doesn’t have any stereo panning capability.
Remember that Novation sells a bunch out the gate...then three years later releases updates for more features to sell continue sales of old stock/b-stock on shelves. This is how they have created a fan base.
REGEND yeah, but you need two VCAs per channel for stereo panning. So this isn’t something that a firmware patch will fix.

Is it possible to design one patch and use all four primary lfos all four envelopes, and both filters within that single patch? I'm just wondering how much of a split there is between the two "peaks" that are crammed into this thing. It looks like there's some new features that kind of unite them as one but I just want to know how much integration there is in terms of designing one patch. Rarely do I ever use split or two presets stacked. but I am certainly tempted by the possibility of having two extra lfos and two extra envelopes and double the voices. But if I found out you could still only use the same amount of envelopes and lfos per patch the same as a regular Peak, that'd be a deal breaker
MajorOscillator I imagine it would have to be a layered or split patch. I don’t think there’s a way to separate out each individual part of both peaks. Like I don’t think you can have a 16 voice patch and have both filters (or all 4 if they’re separated) operating independently with 8 lfos and envelopes doing their own thing. I think you’d have to stack it with 2 8 voice patches to get that effect if you’re looking for all of that to be going on and sounding like one patch. Thankfully 8 voices is plenty.
@@thedarkestrainbow yep I soon realized that after watching a few more videos. Still super stoked for the summit. I'll just have to get clever with layered patches and what routes where. It's probably something I'll just get used to and end up loving it. In the meantime I'll just have to keep cranking out patches on the peak in preparation. 1 Patch Bank already completed. already thinking of a follow up. :)
Just a wild guess, but the filters sound very different from the Peak - more OBie like?

Yes. Except they don’t call it new per se. It is simply a 16 Voice Peak.

To be honest it sounds like my Blofeld and at its asking price I think it's a bit expensive for what it does.

I thought so too, then I tried finding the new ones. So far only three for FM and one for LFO; the others appear to already have been sitting on the Peak...
Then there's the matrix in the menu some LFOs are hiding.

Korg M1? why? it had a completely different synth engine, and was from 30 years ago... And it had balls as well ( it became iconic ) =)

Not overly impressed on its capabilities having watched this clip, nothing really new in terms of sound patches that can’t be found of various other synthesisers from the past or present, disappointing!
it's got way more features compared to other analouge or hybrid analouge synths.
