    Love the BIG sound starting at the 9 minute mark! A well designed User Interface! Novation is going to sell a TON of the Summit. What a great value! Sweetwater adds value to anything you buy from them. Daniel Fisher is an example of some of the people that SW employs. SW also provides an additional 2 year warranty on hardware they sell. Free shipping in the US.

    Had a Novation Peak, but sold all my synthesizers in 2018. Bought the Waldorf Quantum this summer, wonder if the summit will go where the Quantum can not? So far the only other have to get synthesizer feels like the DS OB-6 Damn nice sounding machine.

    • @Robguitarjarvis
      @Robguitarjarvis 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rikard Latvala I have both Quantum and OB 6 and can vouch the OB 6 is very lush and like nothing else, the oscillators and filter are beautiful sounding. I think the pro 3 looks like another must have too. I keep coming back to the Summit simply because it’s sounds great on the demos. Very tempting but maybe overkill when you own the magnificent Quantum.

    • @sweetwater

      Hi Jack. The Summit can auto-detect a footswitch's polarity, so pretty much any Sustain Pedal will work in either of the two jacks. The Expression Pedal should be a non-Yamaha type. Here are my videos about Expression Pedals:

      Hi MSH. It's not so much about having more polyphony... It's the instant magical results you get when you blend two different synth patches at the same time. That's one of the things that made the Yamaha CS-80 the legendary synth that it is.

    Dear Daniel. I’m always in awe of your synth skills. I saw all the wonderful sound you pulled out of the Peak b4. What I need to know is if you can pull specific Oberheim OBX & OBXa sounds out of the Summit. I love the sounds of Van Halen’s 1984 album, & Rush’s Moving pictures albums. I’m not 100% sold on DSI OB6 as I’ve owned both the OBXa & Prophet 600’s in the past. To me the OB6 sound just isn’t up to par. That being said. Thank you in advance, and I’m thinking the Novation Summit might just be the ticket for me. Please tell me honestly if you think the Summit is capable of getting the sounds I need, & mentioned?

    vs DM12?

    • @thedarkestrainbow
      @thedarkestrainbow 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No contest. Peak hands down. The only thing the DM12 has on this is the price and the FX section. And I’m saying that as a former DM12 owner. Sold it because it was too limiting. This is the synth I’ve been waiting for.

    • @thedarkestrainbow
      @thedarkestrainbow 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will add the sequencer is handy in the DM12 especially for sequencing parameters. And there are some fun under the hood options. But for sound, user interface, playability, overall badassery this synth beats Dm12 In my opinion.

      Between the 2, I would chose Matriarch. I have one on the way. But I’m heavily considering adding this and have a simple but effective 2 synth set up. They’re really 2 completely different synths with different purposes.

    • @MrStupidHead
      @MrStupidHead 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i'm in the same place. Either would be pricey so I can't do both. My big question is, can I live without presets? I had a Vermona Performer and at least you didn't have to patch it. That might be part of the allure, but never seeing that patch again? I've had patch based synths since I bought a Poly61 in 1985. I really don't think I can go backwards. I'm sick of all the tech stuff I have to do to record my one man band. Now I have to program it with wires too?> That said, the sound of the Matriarch is perfect. A fun time to be alive in the synth world.

      @RayyMusik 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_User333 I won’t get the Rev2. I’ve had it since April 2018. And it is not really “inferior”, just not as versatile. It can, however, produce huge pads and even CS80-like sounds.
      I’d rather use the Summit as a replacement for my crappy Prophet X, i.a.w. the crazy stuff (FM, wave tables etc.) and hook up the Rev2 for analog (more or less) bread & butter sounds.

      @@RayyMusik Ah ok. Sounds like youre well versed on the gear and quite a bit in your studio for a while. The Prophet X is fairly new and you could sell it which would easily cover the cost of the Summit plus a good 4-voice synth.
