  • Pedacinhos do Céu (Little Pieces of Sky), is a famous Brazilian Choro. Choro popularly called chorinho (weeping), is a genre of the Brazilian popular music that has its origins in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1800s. Choro, in its essence, is a purely instrumental musical genre. Pedacinhos do Céu was composed in 1951 by Waldir Azevedo, a virtuoso of the cavaquinho. Its recording featured the composer as the soloist. A curious anecdote is that during the recording Waldir was unhappy with the sound until he decided to try recording it inside the bathroom of the studio. He loved the end result and kept it in the album. He was praised by many sound engineers who often asked him what kind of special device was used during the recording, to which he answered, “ Celite”, which in Brazil is the main brand of toilets like the American Standard is in the US.
