I’ve been deer hunting since i was 17 and I’m 50 now, this year will be my first year turkey hunting. I’m super excited and have been buying a bunch of turkey hunting supplies and watching tons of videos for help. I enjoyed your turkey vest dump, Micheal. Thank you. It’s awesome that your getting into turkey hunting I am only 25 but I killed my first turkey at 6 years old and now 19 years later I couldn’t decide between April and November if I had to. Best of luck this season
How don’t get my hands on one of those sweet slings ?
Moat can be a bad idea if the ground doesnt drain well enough... You usually want the ball just above grade and then backfill to it.. I dont think you will run into any issues there, but if you had clay soil or clay built up around that for the moat, it could drown them.
I think the nesting of turkeys is the biggest issue. And with that, could be habitat. There is a big move in the deer hunting world to improve habitat, and if done right, it will help the turkeys too.

Dang hogs and coyotes are killing us in NC.
We’ve got bald eagles on our property and haven’t had any decrease in turkey population over the years. Matter of fact, this year we have more on camera than we’ve ever had.
That’s awesome! They are definitely apex predators but that doesn’t mean they all like the taste of turkey 🦅
@@BoneCollectorTube there’s one thing I haven’t done and never seen anyone do and that’s take a metal detector under and around an eagles nest. Ain’t no telling what you’re liable to find. They eat all sorts of things. I would imagine there would be a bird band or two or something along those lines. Just something I’ve always thought about.

I’ve seen the turkeys up north here taking a dive in southern Michigan because of loss of habitat.
A lot of the people from the city are moving out into the country building them million dollar homes buying up the land and let them dogs run and then don’t allow nobody to hunt so the predators take over.
The cityfolk move it out into the country which are the same people that we consider tree huggers and bunny huggers, they don’t understand what needs to happen for wildlife to flourish.
Great take on it! Definitely a lot of moving to more “sought after” lifestyles.
@@BoneCollectorTube well if you think about it it’s never been an issue before because the only people that lived out in the country lived along the roadside or out in the open fields where the farmers house would be, now these city people come out to the country and build a house in the middle of the woods right where all these critters wanna live.
I have quite a bit of land that I hunt here in Southwest Michigan and two of my good farms where you can see 30 birds a day, now your lucky to see a couple of week and that’s because there’s a house that was built in the middle of the woods.

I think less people are hunting raccoons and raccoons love eggs

I know Michael’s editor reads these and not him, but I would come give some free manual labor during the burn day, or right before turkey season. Not looking anything from it but the work and getting to know these guys away from the camera. We used to burn here in eastern NC untill the grandchildren started selling granddaddy’s farms to developers and these new northerners moved down and complained. If he is interested reach out. Not asking for nothing in return just offering free manual labor.
My uncle told me that chicken crap on field's has something to do with it, predators, people killing way more than they should, it's not just one thing. I do know that a bobcat will eat every poult in the flock before they move on

Love all of your videos. I just started Turkey hunting last year at 45 years old. I’ve have always hunted deer, rabbit, squirrels. Never had anyone to teach me turkey hunting. So I started watching your can’t stop the flop and it got me hooked. I didn’t get one last year but hopefully this year will be the year! Thank you for all you do.

I just figured I better make this post because there is another page on here that’s saying we won the turkey sling. I messaged them being excited and gave them by name and address. So be very careful about that page they are messaging me like crazy wanting a payment. It’s sad because I thought I won.
I live in Pa and seeing the same here. Pre season id know of dozens of toms. Now I'm lucky to find 4 scouting over many miles. Still blessed to tag out every season but its surely sad seeing the decline. Our states aware of the issue and the game commission says it but still is selling bonus tags lol.. good luck on the season and keep the flop flopping!!!!!!!

Great video thanks for putting it out and showing us what you will be useing. It really is great seeing you still use Grady shows you don't need the latest gear to kill a bird you just need to use what you got and go have fun. I would put "Cramer" on the sling thanks again best of luck this spring.

I was also super fortunate to be selected for a 3 day veterans turkey hunt in SE Kansas.
I killed my first turkey at 15. That was 17 years ago and this spring I will be hunting the same piece of public land I got my first bird on all those years ago.

I would have "GOBBLER CHARIOT" since it will be the item carrying many of big toms to their final destination on Earth. That way every time my sons use it when I'm gone they will have good memories and hopefully chuckle at the name. Good luck to everyone this season.

I just got some hybrid oak saplings to plant for the deer on my place.They are fast growing and should put on acorns in about 3 or 5 years.

Michael if you put a 3 or 4 inch drain pipe in the bottom of the root ball and let it stick up above the ground you can add water and the nutrients to the roots where it needs it. Just a thought.

Turkey hunting in Tennessee I use a glass top scratcher wish could use a mouth call but have a top denture so would blow n then the denture comes loose lol

I’ve seen a Red tail hawk empty a field of turkeys. When he flew over…all the gobblers jumped and turned their spurs up towards the sky! Crazy. Idk about eagles…but I do know Ben Franklin got it right…turkeys don’t eat road kill!

Waddy here in Tn the TWRA turn rattle snakes loose to reduce the population around highway 109 north.An yes in Bethpage Tn that kinda backs up to the Cumberland river there’s Bald eagles on the roost.My buddy property has went to crap as far as deer and turkeys.We hardly see any anymore!
