Alien & H.R. Giger were the perfect fit from the very beginning since Giger worked with Ridley Scott in the making of the film. And speaking of Ridley Scott, I'm wondering how a Midjourney & HRG version of Blade Runner would look.
I tried to incorporate influences from all the Alien films here, as well as some Prometheus and Predator. One of them is also my wallpaper :-) Bladerunner should be very cool looking!
Thanks for linking me to this, @KhromAI - it's good! Doesn't feel like Giger actually made it (once again demonstrating that current AI can only go so far), but it does stand as a fair expansion on the Xenomorph designs for movies that are aiming to be scary but not mind-shatteringly terrifying. A lot of these images somewhat evoke feelings of terror & the unknown, which would be mission accomplished for character design in the Aliens series. I would say these renders could safely stand alongside the designs in A 3,4, & Covenant (but maybe not Prometheus - which IMHO contains the most terrifying, Giger-esque designs since A1+2). I guess most of these feel to me as if the AI studied Giger, and then studied what the set/character designers of the Alien series did to interpret Giger's designs (rather than Giger's overall aesthetic & technique), and then the AI put more weight on those _interpretations_ than the source Giger work. On the funny side, a few of them seem to borrow more from "Locutus of Borg" than Giger/Aliens! On the critical side, I would give similar feedback to the Dune renders, and say in both cases if they were Giger paintings, they would have more... unsettling tonal variation. More atmospheric tension. And more sort of "easter eggs" where the viewer discovers strange details that give the overall image more of a surreal quality. To be more convincingly made by Giger, it would have to have more of what you'd call "je ne sais quoi" as it is had to pin down, but you know when it's there or not (again, AI is getting mad clever, but there is no actual soul driving it). So I would say that if a human artist with true nightmarish vision were to take these stills (super hi-res) and edit/add details and atmosphere, they might get to a Giger-esque level (as paintings). But my critique probably goes too far anyway, as I think the intention here was to expand on the movie character designs, rather than produce truly Gigeresque work. Speaking of which, If you were looking for requests for future renders, I would be curious to see the AI's output for what some actual modern Giger paintings might look like... Not his character designs for R-rated Hollywood sci-fi jump-scare horror, but his actual paintings which explore human psychology, sex, death, politics, and current events of the past decade. Now, that would truly be terrifying!! Cheers :)
Once again, I am extremely grateful for your valuable critique. I can't disagree with you on any aspect. Fortunately, as you correctly stated, I have no claim to copy the true Giger masterpieces but rather I would like to try (mostly even for myself) some new aspects, which I unfortunately no longer got from Giger. That's what I like so much about AI. I've been working with it for almost a year now and have always done it just for me. A friend asked me a month ago to share it with the general public and I thought, why not? You can see the results now. you wrote: "On the funny side, a few of them seem to borrow more from "Locutus of Borg" than Giger/Aliens!" This fact is due to my prompts, I "incorporated" humans in some designs, the Predator in a few, and some are explicitly based on the Deacon. Please write me the names of the pictures, which you would like to see interpreted by the AI. Thanks again for your comment. I look forward to any more in the future.
Thank you for your kind comment! We're glad you enjoyed our Giger Alien video. It's an honor to think that H.R. Giger himself might appreciate our work. Is a new movie kind of writing itself here? This is spectacular, and like the Dune collection you assembled, I can’t help but wonder what you’ll do in a couple of years with a new screenplay, and a few thousand dollars of budget for compute time.

I don't like this one near as much as the "Dune" video you did. The Xenomorph design is perfect as is. Stan Winston did a great job elaborating on it, but there isn't much else you can do to improve on this design, IMO anyway.

Fantastic collection! Not sure if I made a wise decision to watch this before bedtime, though, . . .
Maybe next time just after breakfast 😝
