- Daw-less hardware synth jam with mostly analog (or analog emulated) synth gear recoded live. Each jam I use different combinations of gear to compose and improvise a song in a single evening, sometimes with the help of my cat Edgar.
In this jam I'm trying the beatstep to control the Volca Drum. The Volca Drum is difficult to play live because of it's tiny key bed. Additionally, each sequence is limited to only 16 steps. Chaining sequences is possible, but it's tough to make changes on the fly (you have to do a few button sequences to save the changes before it moves on to the next sequence). I think the sounds the drum makes are really cool and I'm looking to improve the live/ performace aspects of it so that I can keep the percussion interesting. I'm also using two sequencers to control the Volca FM - the built in 16 step sequencer for chords, then the keystep on for melody on top. I'm using a 24 step sequence for the melody to generate interesting phasing/polyrhythm on top of the chords.
Gear: Moog Grandmother, Volca FM2, Volca Drum, Fairfield electric Randy's Revenge ring mod, Old Blood Noise Flatlight flanger, Boss DD-6 Digital Delay, Arturia keysteop 37, Arturia Beatstep
Good sound, madame ;)
Great jam!
Thanks!
I suffer from dyslexia. When I read the title I first read "Intestinal".
Depends how gory you want your synths, intestinal could work XD
