Jessica Braun tried the shark dupe of the dyson and really liked it so that’s the one that I’ve put on my wish list. I just can’t get over how expensive the dyson is!
I got my daughter the Shark one for Christmas this year, and her hair really turns out amazing! I think it’s kinda heavy. I hear they will be carrying it at Sephora soon

Agreed. I actually love the caliray primer. But I won’t be spending money on the Hausa lab bush and bronzer after seeing this. There’s so many gorgeous ones at the drugstore for a fraction of the price
I like the big hair, pink lips and lighter shade eyebrows you're sporting for this video so so much! The lighter brow color softens your face and makes them look more natural.
Just wanted to thank you for recommending the Urban Decay setting powder. Ordered from Ebay since they're out of stock elsewhere. They must be discontinuing it. However, I was so happy with the blurring effect! Glad I didn't purchase the Givenchy.
Thank you! Always appreciate your honesty. I’d love to see your current fave recommendations of foundations for mature skin. Foundations that you think would sit well over fine lines or texture, has some coverage for hyperpigmentation. I find there are so many glowy foundations now and they really emphasize texture on me 🤷🏼♀️
You just saved me so much money (like you always do)! I was about to buy the Lawless tinted balm and the Calliray blurring primer during the Sephora sale and I won't now. I also love when you recommend things! Pleeease don't stop :)
The new e. l. f. x American Eagle Denim Daze eyeshadow palette is phenomenal. I have never liked a palette e. l. f. has put out as much as this one. They apply and blend flawlessly, without being powdery or leaving fallout under the eyes. You probably have it already, but if you don’t, it’s a must have.
I have normal to dry skin, & I have to say that if you have hyperpigmentation, melasma, spots, whatever you need to cover, I absolutely LOVE the KVD Good Apple Skin Perfecting balm! I do not use it all over as a foundation. But I use it more a spot concealer for those areas of hyperpigmentation I want covered. I’ve tried a lot of full coverage foundations to try and conceal my hyperpigmentation, but they always end up looking too dry. This has been a game changer for me because it still looks moisturized. Also, it’s the only thing I’ve tried that has been like BAM…instant full coverage over my spots and hides it all. When I’m in a rush and don’t have time to do a full face, but only going out to run errands, I can use it as my one product to perfect my skin. Of course, my Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel spf also goes under this everyday. Never skip your sunscreen whether staying indoors or out.
Agree with lots of these comments, please always recommend alternatives! Definitely want your opinion on the good and the bad! Thnx! Happy birthday grandma 🎉
I use the Laura Mercier powder! At first I was very “meh” about it. I used it or the Fit Me loose powder in the Texas summer prevent sweating. HOWEVER! I bought the triangle powder puffs and followed Rose’s (of Rose & Ben) tutorial for applying and I freaking LOVE the LM powder now, even more than the Fit Me.
The Laura Mercier translucent powder for me (as a combination/oily skin type, 40+) at this point the best setting powder. I use it with a powder puff, get the powder on the puff, push the powder into the puff on my hand and then press into the skin. With my skin type I realized that it is the best combo to use a pore blurring primer, light to medium coverage foundation (which sets), this powder, and 1 or 2 times setting spray in between layers. With this method I am able to wear my makeup without touch up at least for 6-7 hours, otherwise my oil comes through after 3-4 hours after I put my makeup on. I did not try as many powders as you ofc :) but translucent powders are the best for me. I liked the fit me loose powder too, but probably because of the coverage my skin gets cakey few hours later after I put on. Btw I do not use this setting powder on my dry undereye area because it doesnt look great (too dry). Also good ones (at least for me) the RCMA translucent powder, It cosmetics bye bye pores.
I still use Laura Mercier loose powder but there are others that are more finely milled and less heavy on the skin but I also like like Pat McGrath's loose powder which I think is under rated and no one talks about. Love your makeup look today, looks beautiful. Happy Easter if you celebrate xx
I love these videos. I appreciate the fact you can recommend better products at the same time comparing what you don't like with what you do like. I appreciate your advice and trust your recommendations. You, Jessica Braun, and Nikki LaRose are my favs when it comes to recommendations of products.
Have been watching your videos for years and, I'm pretty sure, this is my favorite combo/whatever you've had on your face/eyes/skin. Maybe it's partly the lighting but I also think you are in a happy place with people you love and that's shining through too!
I absolutely love these type of vids. Whilst it's important to know WHAT to buy, it's definitely equally as important to know what NOT to buy. Thank you for this awesome vid. I hope you have a wonderful time in NY 🥰 Love ya, ❤💜❤💜❤
Hi Taylor, I bought those gold earrings from Amazon and I love them, I went back to get the next size, they are so light weight but look heavy, thank you, so pretty.❤
Taylor - you are glowing lately. I think it may be that the micro blading on your brows has faded and it makes your face appear more soft. Not that you didn’t look great before, but I have noticed a major difference!
Since we’re taking about de-influencing here- something I do is I just make do with what I have on hand. So much crap we’re pushed to purchase to make our lives easier is so wasteful and extra 🤣 I use an old tshirt to wrap around my wet hair instead of buying a special towel wrap. When I wash my face, I also reuse a hand towel under my elbows on the counter so water doesn’t get everywhere, instead of buying those skin care girlies sweat band looking arm scrunchies lol. I also live a non super organized way- my fridge isn’t filled with aesthetic-ly pleasing acrylic containers to make everything look pretty-ful. You can still have an organized fridge and pantry just by grouping things together that makes sense and look nice. *OFF MY SOAP BOX SOON* Idk who cares, but these are just things I’ve picked up on that I’ve been doing in my everyday life, despite how big over consumerism is being pushed online right now. 🤷🏼♀️ Not sure who even read this, but hopefully it’s a little tiny smol impact that it might make on the earth 🫶🧚🏻♂️ makes me feel like it is anyway *what do I feel, important now* ANYWAYS LOVE U TAY, RANT OVER 🤠‼️
Also if your hair type needs a special towel wrap THATS OKAY PARDON ME I just mean there’s so much buying specific things when we could just make do with what we already have (generally speaking) it’s just that most people want to stay on trend (just to clarify, I prolly sound like a jerk face anyway lol)
I agree it's better to use what I have them to buy constantly. Idk if other people have another planet to escape to or not lol but I know if anyone is going to pay for what is happening to our planet, it will be the poorer people not billionaires and rich corporations so I get ur point. It is also not as much of a choice that I don't buy alot of stuff as much as I'm broke alot lol but we all could do more reduce, re-use and recycle.
I've only tried 2 of the products you mentioned and agree 100% - glossier primer and Laura Mercier powder--very average products as you say. Would love to see soft glam evening makeup for humid summers!
You look so pretty today Taylor! Love this video….and, I trust you. Although, I do like the Haus Labs bronzer and I am not a bronzer person! I have given up on foundation. I like tinted sunscreens on my aging skin. I agree on the Haus Labs blush; patchy on me.
You may have done this somewhere along the way but I didn't see it. It would be fun for you to compare how makeup looks differ across countries, even states and cities. This is one of the things I always noticed when I was travelling. Thanks for the reviews.
I like when you compare products to one's you like!! It helps to know what something may be similar to, especially if I already own the preferred product. You can absolutely "de-influence" us on certain items while still mentioning others. They say "there are no rules to makeup" ..so keep doing you, we love you for it!!🖤🌟
The best way to bake with the LM powder is to just a damp sponge, let it sit and then kick it off gently. Makes for a super smooth/poreless effect. I only do it on my cheek pores, eyelids, under eyes so my mascara doesn’t smudge as much
Thank you for talking about the Dyson! I feel like everyone and their dog speaks it’s praises but mostly people with fine or hair that needs a lot of gentle styling. That’s not me 🥲 I’m looking forward to your Shark styler review!
I used the Laura Mercier powder in the past. At that time, it was definitely the best loose powder I had tried. But over time as more options came out, I realized the powder always sat heavy on my skin. I also am so fair that even translucent powders show up on my skin, and the Laura Mercier noticeably altered my foundation color. Now I use the Fenty lavender loose powder. It is perfection, especially the tone on my skin!
The Huda Beauty fauxfilter Concealer works like a complete dream on my 45 year old undereyes. I do have to use a colour corrector first (usually Charlotte Tilbury) though.. but I do with any concealer. Fauxfilter gives me less creasing and all-day hydration that I just have never got from anything else (and I've used a LOT!) 😎✌🏼💜💜💜🇬🇧
@@joansmith6844 I'm aware of the difference but they are trying to make money here regardless. That's why I just watch people I trust are being honest. If they love everything they ever try it's a red flag, if they hate everything they try another red flag lol, and if they say you need to buy this right now or something along those lines it's a huge red flag, right? TW has been de influencing to some extent since I've been subscribed because she is honest when she dislikes something it seems and I appreciate that. I do think it's funny that it now has a fancy name though lol.
I have a very hard hair to deal with, people might think that the Dyson air wrap is not worth the money, I do have it and I have every imaginable tool in the world, but with the experience I do believe that if you don’t want to damage your hair your best bet is definitely Dyson , because they do less damage or any damage at all to the hair , I love it
I have one of the blowout brushes and it left my roots frizzy. I have naturally curly hair, with fine texture. My husband got me the Dyson Airwrap for Christmas last year. I know it’s crazy expensive but I think it’s worth every penny! I can blow my hair straight with it in like ten minutes with the stiff paddle brush attachment. The barrel styles don’t hold great on my finer hair, but even when it falls, it still looks good. I’m not someone who can just blow dry my hair and go out the door. With the airwrap, I can and it’s straight and frizz free.
Honestly super weird but the Laura mercier powder is basically the ONLY powder that sets my under eyes nicely without creasing or causing weird dry / cakeyness under there. We must have super different skin because every powder I’ve tried that you’ve recommended I ended up hating under my eyes 🥲
The LM powder works best at setting my foundation along with setting spray. If I want a different effect, I have to use a different powder. So I think it really depends on what you are using powder for.
Great work. Thank you for your dedication with your anti review, shall we say, in saving us time, money and negativity. I really appreciate it. I trust your opinion. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe.
I finally tried the Laura Mercier Ulta Blur powder and love it so much more than the original. If you haven’t tried it, I definitely recommend trying it. It really does blur and doesn’t lift up my liquid foundation.
I would love you to review the new reformulated MUFE powder foundation that’s now the HD Skin (insert ridiculously long name here) powder foundation! We have similar skin tones and textures so I can always trust your reviews and there’s just WAY too many reviews from influenster right now to trust the ones I’ve seen online exclusively. Thanks! 😊
Please give recommendations of what you do recommend instead of just what items not to buy. Although we have completely opposite skin types and I always enjoyed watching what you recommend.
I do still use the Laura Mercier powder even with a drawer full of others. For whatever reason, I get compliments on my skin EVERY time I wear it (including on my wedding day). Something magical about it.
The way you feel about the haus labs bronzer is how I felt about the fenty bronzers! I was so excited when they dropped shades were gorgeous But it was so patchy on me and faded away overtime. I had drugstore bronzers that blended so much better and had longevity. Did you experience that with fenty bronzers too?
I've been using the Amika texture spray for years and love it. My hair is super fine. I agree with the Charlotte products I was so frustrated with it I was blaming myself for bad applications, but after quite a few tries, I have other products that I don't have issues with. The makeup by Mario Foundation literally has me more oily an hour into application, powder did not help and I tried it a few different ways. If I had no primer or moisturizer, that may give it some more time but not worth the hassle. Thanks for giving suggestions while telling us what didn't work for you

Hi!! I use to use Laura Merciers powder every single day but I actually fell in love with ELFs Halo Glow and I find it works just as well with a waaaaay more affordable price point!! I also wanted to add that I, myself, love to hear you recommend a different product when giving us “don’t buys!” It is very helpful! :)
I used the Laura Mercia powder for years until I saw the blurring effect from the Ami Cole powder and now I’m hooked on that one😂 I saw that magic and had to have it for myself and I love it!!
What an iconic NYC view! It looks like the opening shot of a movie! Enjoy! I'm really looking forward to hearing how your Grandma's friend experiences NYC.
Thanks for the video, Taylor! I'm currently using a Clinique foundation brush that I got as a gift with purchase. It's OK; the only issue I have with it is, it has a short handle. Also, the head is a little big for my face. But it's not awful, so I'll probably use it until it falls apart or starts shedding hairs.
So two things - I have the shark air wrap thingy and its good but its not amazing, TBH, I do regret getting it a bit because I found right away that my hair just holds better with a curling iron (I have lots of hair but the strands are fine-medium and its long, like mid rib cage). I do like the smoothing brush thingy that comes with it, thats nice as well as the more round brush but the wrapper just arent great and its probably just the amount of hair I have. As for the Hourglass vanish brush, its worth the hype IMO. I love it for cream blushes specifically because it just picks up the right amount and it does just blend beautifully, HOWEVER I will say you can get a very similar kind of result with lots of other brushes, I just happen to have this one and love it. I got mine back when the hourglass stick foundations first came out (which did NOT work for me at all).
Considering I'm having my 3rd and hopefully last spinal surgery in less than a month, I'm kind of a mess, however, I'm looking forward to spending all next week in Laguna Beach right by the water which wouldn't have happened if you hadn't mentioned THS. So thank you again, Taylor. This has been quite possibly the most invaluable discovery, all because of you.
What is THS? Sorry for being clueless, I most likely am going to have to have spinal surgery from an accident and am in a lot of pain, that’s why I’m asking. Thank you and I hope you feel better soon 🙏🏼
I used Laura Mercier powder when it first came out for a long time. It was ok, not bad not great. I did try others like CoverRX translucent powder and some drugstore. I now and have been using Nikkia Joy Velvet Perfecting Powder (she’s on TH-cam) and I won’t ever use another powder ❤. Thanks for all your hard work Taylor xoxo
I appreciate your recommendations too in this! Some of us don't have time or money to try a lot of products. I can definitely relate to the Big City/Little City dating pool analogy!
Make-up pool vs dating pool was a good analogy! Love Living Proof-they do all the right things for my hair. Have you tried the LP Full Thickening Mousse? It’s great for boosting volume at the root. Hope the girls trip to NYC is fab!
i used the LM powder for yearssss because it was the only one i liked (despite trying others) but the elf HD powder has become my go to for a translucent setting powder and the halo glow powder is really good if you don’t mind color. the hd powder is super mattifying and i like putting it over really dewey makeup because as the day goes on it settles together and keeps it from looking too matte or dewey
Omg please do more of these!!! I have to stop watching people show good products because I am in debt and can’t buy anything. Especially because I love makeup so much I want to buy it often. Because I like it so much I have to stop any influence that makes me want to buy. Especially if it’s super cheap then I’ll be like eh it’s only $10 why not. If I need a product I will watch your favourites video. But other than that I will be watching deinfluencing videos!
I definitely have had a different experience with the translucent powder, personally. I think your skin texture and type plays a role in how this product works for you as well as what you use it with. I did and still do have soft airbrushed looking skin when I use it. I very rarely use foundation so mostly it is over just a little bit of concealer for me. It makes my skin look beautiful and I haven’t switched to anything else, personally. But I know that my skin isn’t the same as everyone else’s skin so maybe it doesn’t work well for everyone.
The Laura mercier powder I’ve used and still use. It really works well for me because of my eye treatment I do before makeup application. And the Huda beauty concealer I use for an eye primer because I agree no coverage and not good for under eyes or spot conceal. I did want to utilize it so that’s what I do with it
I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into all your content. It’s so helpful to hear about your experience because, like you said, you have such a wide pool of products to pull from so you can compare so many things at once and we all benefit from it 😊 I really appreciate when you share recommendations in these videos as well because when something doesn’t work for you I’d love to know a product or a few products that did so I know what to check out instead.
Love watermelon scent but I've noticed the glow recipe watermelon dew drops but they really are not good with other products. They cause pilling so often on my skin. I want to love them so I keep buying them lol

It is also not as much of a choice that I don't buy alot of stuff as much as I'm broke alot lol but we all could do more reduce, re-use and recycle.
I love comparisons because sometimes I want something they claim to do. Having a better tried and true option is a must! 🖤
I absolutely totally agree with you regarding the Charlotte Tillbury contour wand! It's so patchy and lifts everything.
I only do it on my cheek pores, eyelids, under eyes so my mascara doesn’t smudge as much
I need to try this! Always looks awful on me
Dyson air wrap I use to style my hair not really blow dry. I can feel how healthy and long my hair is versus using other tools
Thank you for talking about the Dyson! I feel like everyone and their dog speaks it’s praises but mostly people with fine or hair that needs a lot of gentle styling. That’s not me 🥲 I’m looking forward to your Shark styler review!
The LM translucent powder is still my HG even after all these years, and I’ve tried lots of different powders.
have u tried her new talc free blurring loose powder?
@@zackmichaels8749 not yet, plan on picking it up during the Sephora sale.
I'm 64 and it works beautifully on my skin, topped with the Huda loose powder.
Yay Saturday morning Taylor video! With the Sephora sale coming up this is a great video idea haha
De-influencing is a fancy name for being honest about products you try. But typically people give different options which is still influencing....
Well comes sense.. there are sellers and sponsorship then there is truth honesty and being humble .. know the difference 👊🏻
What??? Makeup channels that tell us the products they don't like AND the products they DO?? That's wild!
@@julieme7927 wtf
Love your make up! Your eyeliner looks amazing! Could you do a tutorial of the eyeliner? I’m terrible at it 😩 love the lip shade on you x
Do you have a video on this look you’re wearing? It’s so pretty 😊
Your recommendations always work for me, so thanks for that! I trust your opinion always 😉
💖💖🐣
We really appreciate u did this kind of videos really save us some money 😂♥ btw love this makeup look on you u look gorgeous x
Thanks! 😊
Also, the new Tarte blush that has come out in the squeeze tube is NOT good, at all. It is really sheer and shows texture.
Please give recommendations of what you do recommend instead of just what items not to buy. Although we have completely opposite skin types and I always enjoyed watching what you recommend.
Taylor always looks beautiful, but the whole aesthetic in this video is perfection 😍 I want to buy everything on her face.
Right?! I think her skin looks incredible, it's distracting me from what she's saying 😂🎉
I do still use the Laura Mercier powder even with a drawer full of others. For whatever reason, I get compliments on my skin EVERY time I wear it (including on my wedding day). Something magical about it.
Great as always keep doing what you do we all appreciate the work you put into your videos love from Australia Xxx🥰
Fenty seems to be for oily skin. Dont use them as they dry my skin out even more. And its a little like plaster lol.
Yes I agree!
@@zamar2158 that makes sense bc I’m dry /: I kept trying it but it just didn’t work for me
I've been using the Amika texture spray for years and love it. Thanks for giving suggestions while telling us what didn't work for you
there are very rare numbers of makeup youtubers who are most authentic, true makeup enthusiasts, provide best contents, try soooo many underrated products and most importantly dont fall to dishonest sponsorship! u r one of them...10 yrs! u did such a creative and firmly intelligent job! go girl go!
I also hate the CT contour wand, as well as the blush, and I’m glad I’m not the only one 😂 I thought there was something wrong with me.
That hourglass brush is definitely a dud & sits unused, but I 💙 the oribe spray
I used the Laura Mercia powder for years until I saw the blurring effect from the Ami Cole powder and now I’m hooked on that one😂 I saw that magic and had to have it for myself and I love it!!
i like when you give a recommendation instead of a product that you don’t like. it’s very helpful
I hope you heal!😍
@Brigitte thank you. So wonderful to be able to get away to decompress without worrying about budget. Truly priceless.
What is THS? Sorry for being clueless, I most likely am going to have to have spinal surgery from an accident and am in a lot of pain, that’s why I’m asking. Thank you and I hope you feel better soon 🙏🏼
Could you do some recon Merit, like the bronzer and concealer/foundation sticks? Thanks!
Taylor and breakfast on a lazy Saturday morning is a WIN for me ❤❤❤
said this before but love your descriptions as to why you don't like these products. sooo helpful!
I liked the Laura Mercier powder for my undereye only, but the Glossier Wowder blows it out of the water and it looks amazing all over.
I appreciate your recommendations too in this! Some of us don't have time or money to try a lot of products. I can definitely relate to the Big City/Little City dating pool analogy!
Hi, Taylor!! How are you? I hope you're doing fantastic!! This was a great video!! Happy Easter to you and your family!! Take care. ❤❤
Happy Easter, Taylor! Hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family! Love you bunches! 🐰💐🩵
Bought the Laura Mercia powder and never used it again. Same with a new foundation that is on display at Sephora. Not for me.
Make-up pool vs dating pool was a good analogy! Love Living Proof-they do all the right things for my hair. Have you tried the LP Full Thickening Mousse? It’s great for boosting volume at the root. Hope the girls trip to NYC is fab!
I am happy this was about products to avoid only
also an update on best setting sprays it has just been a while since i last heard you talk about that category :D
You always look great…your skin in this video looks more flawless than usual. 😍😍
You mentioned it at the end!! Yes, I agree! It looks great.
i used the LM powder for yearssss because it was the only one i liked (despite trying others) but the elf HD powder has become my go to for a translucent setting powder and the halo glow powder is really good if you don’t mind color. the hd powder is super mattifying and i like putting it over really dewey makeup because as the day goes on it settles together and keeps it from looking too matte or dewey
I honestly like it when you have an alternative product that might work better & why.
You look so pretty in this video. The lip color is such a nice look on you.
I did want to utilize it so that’s what I do with it
Love this type of video! Ur recommendations have always worked out amazing !
