I was at university on the SOUTH BANK, half a mile away, and I HEARD this it was so loud.
I was like "wtf was that?"
Some of had radios with us. The radio broadcast was a couple of seconds ahead of the big screen. That's why you heard advance cheering.

I was 11 when this was announced. I heard that we won at lunchtime on a visit day to the school I would start at in September. Now I'm 18, I left that school just under a month ago, and the Olympics have actually arrived! Time goes so fast. It feels like the last 7 years have been building up to this day :)

I wasn’t even 2 when this was revealed, but I felt quite excited too, before the official logo came and appeared on all the adverts, resulting in my childhood fear.

I can't believe I still remember watching this, almost 7 years ago.. and the day after the papers should have been full of cheer but instead we were left with horror.
Although I'm sure the papers on the 7th were of cheer cause the papers usually come out early in the morning before the incidents took place, or I may be wrong.
Not sure why the French disliked this video - they should be used to losing.
Olympics were great and made me even more proud to be British :-)

Why is there always someone cheering before the result is announced
I can remember this moment, and those with mobiles cheering first due to the one second delay to the outside broadcast, IMO kind of ruined the simultanious moment...and then the next day...
