Probably one of your best edited videos, Mike! The way you used the music to transition between scenes...it was just great! That slight slant to the headboard really makes the bed in my opinion. Great job!
Design is awesome man! Only thing I would change is the plywood under the bed. Using slats is better for the bed. If it doesn't breath, it will get mold in just a few months. Other than that it's awesome
Every time you think “mold”’is going to “happen” remember that it is a moisture problem and ask yourself, “ where is the moisture coming from? There is literally zero chance for mold!!!!
Billy Joe DeVries, not everyone who builds a bed from his plans are going to use a memory foam bed. So people need to know they'll have to make adjustments depending on the mattress they use.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This is the video I have been looking for. Great instructions and great design. I'm so ready to build this bed. Thanks again for knowing how to make a great instructional video!
This is great. I'm glad you spoke highly of pocket holes. Why make things difficult. And that you use typical household tools! Brilliant. I may modify with cutting some vent strips in the ply for our mattress. And use some leftover 3x3 poplar pieces for the legs. So so well done. Nice work love your channel it's an inspiring one for sure. Others get too complicated or use materials that up the price point. Which we don't need because most of our furniture is pine. Poplar. Or ply. Fist bump.
Awesome looking bed Mike! The only thing you might want to look at changing is the legs. I made multiple platform beds for my friends in college and when you get into some 'extra curricular activities' on the bed, the legs usually aren't that stable. Keep up the good work!
I love this design. I have been looking at making a bed frame recently (read: the last 4 months) and this hits a lot of my criteria. My only adjustment would be to radius those corners at the foot of the bed because they look like serious ankle biters with that 90deg angle.
The styrofoam is a decent idea if you're just starting and don't have a workshop. But one of the first things you should build is some folding saw horses, and make a quick frame out of some 2x4 (I rip them in half on the table saw), and make a frame that sits on the saw horses and supports the plywood. Better on the back, quicker, and more accurate cuts, since you're not crawling around on your knees mid cut.
Nice work, but don't forget to add holes to the platform where mattress sits... Mattresses need airflow so the germs, mold, etc can air out. Mattress will last longer and be healthier fir you
No mold isssue. You have no idea what you are saying. Mold doesn’t magically happen when you slap an air-barrier on one side of a dry sponge, especially a vapor permeable one that is elevated off the floor!!
I've had two foam mattresses get moldy when placed on a surface with no ventilation. Both were completely ruined while otherwise relatively new. You absolutely need to put ventilation holes in.
True! Humans extract 2 liters of water every night through breathing, sweating and salivating. Some of that water is going to trickle down through the mattress. My sister had a futon in while living in Japan but since they are usually used on tatami, not concrete floor there was an actual puddle under it almost every morning even though futons have loads of absorbant natural fibers. Foam matresses are the worst in this. They can feel completely dry on the top while being soaked on the bottom.
Bennet Pullen Nobody recommends putting it on a vapor barrier. This is not a vapor barrier. And it is elevated off the ground. You have made a comment but you did not indicate if you had lifted your mattress off the ground or put it on something that is “breathable“.
Looks great. I’ve always loved these minimalist designs. We’ve been looking at adjustable bases and it seems like this would work for that; just leave center open and make longer legs, I think?
I like the design aesthetic of the raw plywood and the simplicity of the build. I will tell you from personal experience that the horizontal apron/frame around the bed will be a real shin-killer. Maybe minimize the overhang in the next version?
My serious concern about platform bed is how if an adult person sits or stand on the edge platform. Will it be able to take the weight? I think the joint might give way, or it won't?
soosai steven came to the comments to find someone else thinking that; wasn’t disappointed. That’s my main concern too. If you stand on the edge, that’ll snap off.
Very cool use of two sheets of plywood.... One thing though: having a mattress just put on a flat surface can create a moisture trap, no? Wouldn't mold be an issue?
Hey, this is is a great ida for a beginner project; thanks for posting! You mentioned a cut list would be provided in the written article, but I could only find the sketch up file. Any suggestions?
I want to build smaller projects like your end tables for right now but I have an apartment and no room for various tools at the moment. What is the best one I should invest in to start for various projects like that, circular, small table saw, miter?
that mattress will get moldy on the underside because there is no airflow between it and the ply. You need to install a slatted under mattress frame or drill holes in that ply.
I want to build this project, using three quarter inch thick solid wood boards. I'd love to hide my legs so as to achieve a floating effect. Any ideas?
Great job Mike, I am planning to made someone like this. My, advice (for the future) is to do the tutorial video record slow... step by step. Also the structural parts of the bed or the sample. Well regards from Peru...
How do you manage to make such straight free hand cuts with the circular saw? I just started woodworking and when I use it free hand, the cuts are pretty wobbly and, frankly, unusable. I have to fix a straight piece of wood parallel to the cut so I can prop the circular saw against it. Which is incredibly tedious. My circular saw is a cheapo second hand one but came with a decent blade. Any advice?
Thank you for nice video. A bed uses a lot of room space in a room. It would be nice to come up on simple wall/closet folding bed design. :) I am thinking about it.
I love that project. I turned out so good and the design is awesome. But when you build a bed it’s important that the mattress can “breathe” e.g. there should be some holes where the mattress lays.
Hey I designed a bed in sketch up based off of your previous platform bed build and diy creators platform bed with built in end tables and was just wondering if you could take a look at it and see if there’s something I’m not thinking of with the design that would make it not work. I have it uploaded to the warehouse in sketchup so that should make it pretty easy for you to download.
Well done bro, thanks for sharing your knowhow with us, I wonder how stupid of some people, they show a thumbs down! Anyway, don't worry about that, great going, very informative channel 👍
Probably one of your best edited videos, Mike! The way you used the music to transition between scenes...it was just great! That slight slant to the headboard really makes the bed in my opinion. Great job!
Like the simple look and the built in nightstands are sick. I need to build a bed frame now
Design is awesome man! Only thing I would change is the plywood under the bed. Using slats is better for the bed. If it doesn't breath, it will get mold in just a few months. Other than that it's awesome
Abel Pulido could also probably drill some holes if you want to keep the plywood sheets!
Just cut the plywood into slats. It'd be a few minutes with the table saw.
Every time you think “mold”’is going to “happen” remember that it is a moisture problem and ask yourself, “ where is the moisture coming from? There is literally zero chance for mold!!!!
Sweat, spilling, laying/sitting after a shower, kid accidents, etc, etc, etc.

very interesting and easy project .......including lunch break proposal ..cheers buddy!!!

I love simple builds like this. Takes less time and effort for people like me who are new to woodworking and don't have a lot of time to do projects.

Simply awesomee.. I might not be building a bed at home, but you gave a woderful idea for my friend's farmhouse!! Thanks dear!!
youre killing it with the minimalist plywood builds! I love it!
I've never used pocket-hole joinery, but I can see where it would come in handy over other forms of jointery. Excellent build.
Love the chemistry between you and Jessi;)
Great job I need one for my full bed
Great wood work from India
I like that you use ryobi which proves it is very diy for those of us that don't need to spend a fortune on tools we won't use often
I can't tell u how much I love this channel all of your designs and the way you explain the projects this makes me wanna go buy wood 😌
Love your energy Mike, great project, keep it up!
a new bed is my next project this is exactly what I wanted totally gonna copy it excellent work thanks
This video is honestly a blessing! I was trying to draw up plans for a similar bed and was so excited to see this in my sub box!
I LOVE IT THANKS FOR SHARING!
it's beautiful. you make it seem so easy
Cool bed and super simple to make it was just great!
This is the exact bed frame that I’ve been looking for. I love it! ☺️ Maybe I’ll convince someone to make it for me haha.
Nice work, but don't forget to add holes to the platform where mattress sits... Mattresses need airflow so the germs, mold, etc can air out. Mattress will last longer and be healthier fir you

Neropatti extract? How am I supposed to take this shit seriously?
Love the design! Looks with very clean and modern.
Favourite project yet! I’m building it.
Looks great. I’ve always loved these minimalist designs. We’ve been looking at adjustable bases and it seems like this would work for that; just leave center open and make longer legs, I think?
Dang. Sucha cool bed!!!
Was pleasantly surprised. Nice job!
Beautiful build
That's a very cool design. I like the rounded, natural shape of the nightstand-endtable-whatsoever-structures. :-)
AMAZING I LOVE THE VIDEO YOU MADE AS WELL AS THE BED
Looks easy to build but it takes an artist to perfect this beautiful bed
So nice and clean, congrats.
I like the design aesthetic of the raw plywood and the simplicity of the build. I will tell you from personal experience that the horizontal apron/frame around the bed will be a real shin-killer. Maybe minimize the overhang in the next version?
Oh wow!!!! This would work in my tiny house!
Nice job. My only tweak would be to put a radius on the front edges of the platform. Believe me, your shins will thank you. Cheers.
Fantastic! Looks great, dude. 👍
Great 10' design!
Very nice! The thought of buying a bed, or most furniture, now seems impossible
I really like this bed. I agree with the matress needing to breath. I wonder if you could add some drawers on top of the side tables?
Nice simple bed! Imo I would round the corners so they look nice with the bed.
I literally just found this channel and I already am a big fan I've learned so much about building and it inspired me to just build stuff. Very good
That's a very lovely looking shin destroyer 🤔
My serious concern about platform bed is how if an adult person sits or stand on the edge platform. Will it be able to take the weight? I think the joint might give way, or it won't?

@@SteRumbelow dont ! simple
Great looking design
I keep looking at this video I love this bed
This Guy is Awesome
Making plywood look amazing!
Very simple 👍👍👍
So cool.. thank you. Just 2 pieces of plywood
Very cool use of two sheets of plywood.... One thing though: having a mattress just put on a flat surface can create a moisture trap, no? Wouldn't mold be an issue?
Never fails to amaze! great stuff!
Nice work. Keep up!
You rock nonstop! I'm impressed.
Love that build one day I think I’m going to try and tackle it myself
Brilliant project
finally a platform bed diy that isnt rocket science. lol i knew there had to be simpler ways than what most videos showed
Nice project
Nighty night! Lol..like the built in side tables..good stiff as always!
Hey, this is is a great ida for a beginner project; thanks for posting! You mentioned a cut list would be provided in the written article, but I could only find the sketch up file. Any suggestions?
You did an amazing job. I tried making one in high-school but it wasnt strong enough. I might give it another try.
Love your videos
YAS it's here!
I want to make my own bed when i find time and this was really easy to follow.
Would you be worried about the night stands sagging over time? Would it help to build in an angled support under the nightstands?
Thank you been waiting for something like this
Awesome Mike, love it!
I want to build smaller projects like your end tables for right now but I have an apartment and no room for various tools at the moment. What is the best one I should invest in to start for various projects like that, circular, small table saw, miter?
absolutely love it!! Great video showing the process. You and Jessie make a great team :)
So awesome! 👏🏼
Congratulations on your 100th video🎉
Nice build, Mike! 👍🏻
Freaking loved it😍 I'm looking at ideas on building my own platform bed and this video was just awesome 😍😍😍
I like this build I need something like this because currently I using a box spring and my new mattress slides all over the place.
I'm a bigger boy. 5'11 280lbs, do you think something like could support that kind of weight? I would love this bed!
that mattress will get moldy on the underside because there is no airflow between it and the ply. You need to install a slatted under mattress frame or drill holes in that ply.

need a pockethole jig... pretty handy. what kind of boots?
Nice work, like!
I like hoe you just embraced the plywood and didn't try to hide it with edge banding or something similar. It came out graat
Very cool, I have a friend who actually asked me to build them a bed recently
Great job Mike, I am planning to made someone like this. My, advice (for the future) is to do the tutorial video record slow... step by step. Also the structural parts of the bed or the sample. Well regards from Peru...
Great video! My daughter wants a new bed, I think Ill be making this one.

Hermoso trabajo
Thank you for nice video. A bed uses a lot of room space in a room. It would be nice to come up on simple wall/closet folding bed design. :) I am thinking about it.
NB that type of design is known as a murphy Bed.
Cooool as ice.
You're taking about Mike, right? 😉 Oh no! That would be more like hot like lava…🤔😏😄
Are those boots Iron Rangers? Love 'em.
Amazing project!!!
BROCOLI?? AND SWEET POTATO!? wow! so proud of you mike
I love that project. I turned out so good and the design is awesome. But when you build a bed it’s important that the mattress can “breathe” e.g. there should be some holes where the mattress lays.
dope amazing i wish i could build so i could do this for myself great job!
How many sheets of plywood do you need?
Cool and assume, if you just work on ratios of the edges and rounded it a little bit it might be more classy i think, sure its gorgeous for me already
