I agree. Always liked it but I remember as a young teen not fully understanding the plot until the second time I saw it! A lot of names thrown around and it was a smarter script than the Arnie films I was used to at the time (Commando etc).
Let me preface this by saying I'm a big fan of this period in Arnold's film work. So I can appreciate it on some level. That said, this film has one of the most ridiculous plots I've seen. I'm willing to suspend disbelief to a certain degree, but this film asks WAY to much of me in that respect. Let's examine this, shall we? - An FBI agent convinces a small town police officer (former FBI agent) to fake his own death and infiltrate the mafia. He convinces him to this simply by telling him that, should be be successful, there's a possibility he'll be reinstated by the FBI. The small town police officer is convinced despite there being no official sanction for any such undercover operation, let alone any kind of support/backup. - To fake his own death and "disappear", the small town police officer drives a patrol car to a petrochemical plant, and literally blows up a substantial portion of said plant. WTF? Aren't there less destructive ways to fake your own death? - Small town police officer, having successfully infiltrated the mafia, convinces them that by bombing police stations it will allow them to steal back their seized heroin and cash. I'll be he left THAT little tidbit out when he was being considered for reinstatement at the FBI. - Small town police officer, who is not operating in any official capacity, literally guns down 20-30 men. This was not a self defense situation where he had no choice. He went to the gravel pit and the lounge with the express intention of killing them. So he basically murders 20-30 people. - Despite all of the above, the small town police officer is eventually reinstated by the FBI.
@@mifune9634 damn... That was a good write up. And as someone who literally watches this movie on occasion, I ended up just going with it... This movie was very underrated
@@KRGraphicsCG Because of the gaping plot holes in this film, I can't even watch it anymore. So I strapped my Blue-ray copy of Raw Deal into the passenger seat of my car, drove to the nearest petrochemical plant, parked there, opened a valve releasing highly flammable naphtha, hopped onto my motorcycle (which, in case you're gonna be all Mr. Smarty Pants, I'd left there earlier), rode to a safe distance, and used a flare gun to ignite the naphtha and destroy a good portion of the petrochemical plant along with my car and Raw Deal Blue-ray. That's the simplest way I could think of to dispose of it.
Lmfaooooo the soundtracks to the 80s movies were beast and still are. This the type of song if I was a panther in the jungle would be playing in the background
"Mob War my @$$!" Also, this music plays during one of the best "Suiting up" or "Gearing up" scenes in movie history. Great movie, with a good plot and heart to it.
Finally watched this and thought it was awesome. They rarely make movies like this now. Wish they had it on Dvd or blu ray. It's on Amazon Prime though. Love this song too.
It's funny. I'd only ever seen that actor as one of the Fratellis in The Goonies, and just in the past week I saw him in Raw Deal and The Expendables 3.
@@NKWittmann bro it was common place back then. My local video store was a good friend of my grandfather and would just give them to me and the occasional cardboard cut out too which was always a special treat. Personal favourite was Big Trouble in Little China
arnie is the man, thank you arnie for all the great memories i have, i remember i wanted to be a commando after watching commando for the first time i loved it, i was only about 10 years old i think, possibly younger and i love total recall, amazing film and jerry goldsmith did his best work on that film, he said so himself and i agree
Watched this movie a few weeks ago. I actually felt like we didn't hear enough of this soundtrack in the movie. A few times Ahnold was beating the shit out of people and we didn't hear it.
A killer 7/8, one of my favorite film score, I love it so much I contacted Chris Boardman to ask him if I could use his composition for my car project presentation : a very nice gentleman, very talented and accessible.
8My family took vacation in October 1985 to Wilmington, North Carolina and DEG Studios. This was being filmed. We came back in April of 1986 and saw on location filming of Crimes Of The Heart (1986) with Jessica Lange and Sissy Spacek. Always thought it was cool to have a movie studio on the East coast!!!.One of Arnold's ten best films. A notch below TERMINATOR, Conan The Barbarian, Predator, T2 and Total Recall.
Not watched this in so long. Since I was a kid. I remember not liking it as much as commando, terminator, predator, etc. I think I'd probably appreciate it more now
The intro is major pain! Play this in GTA V walking down the street all calm will give you the chills. The whole soundtrack works well with that game. Hot. Yes.
In 1995 my dad rented this movie I thought it was a terminator film lol still badass eating pizza watching arnie gun bad guys down in his convertible Buick Rivera 😭
Patrovita : "Call the cops". Roca : "What?". Patrovita : "Call the fucking cops". Brenner/Kaminsky kills both mobsters singlehandedly with no remorse - a real BADASS!.
Theme is by Claude Gaudette. If Ubisoft ever develop another Blood Dragon game, I insist they include this track or something very similar for a boss fight :)
This was another under rated film. Very unappreciated film.

Badass lesser known Arnold movie. The last action scene is insane, he absolutely wrecks those mob goons.
Just saw this movie a few days ago. Fucking underrated as hell. I miss these kinds of movies.
One of the best Movies with Arnold. Great Cast, funny and memorable dialogue and soundtrack - 80s Action at its best. So underrated
