Should always check whether they take commission after win like the 4/10 (most places in vegas auto-buy the 4/10 but place the 5/9 unless you tell them otherwise). If they do take it after win, the buy would would pay 1450 on 1000 and the place pays 1400 on 1000.

There are so many different bets but once you get it, you kind of form your own system (which is what makes craps so fun).
Basics regarding 7. There are two phases of the game. Phase 1 is the come out roll. The phase lasts until a 4 5 6 8 9 or 10 are rolled. This number then becomes the point. In first phase the 7 is a winner for a pass line bet and does not effect anything else. After the point is set (phase two), the 7 generally kills all bets and ends the round. If the point is hit before the 7 then it is a winner for the pass line and we go back into phase 1 where the 7 is your friend again. What can cause extra confusion is that the bets that are directly on the numbers (called buy or place bets) can be turned off if the player doesn't want them active during phase 2 (this means they can't lose on a 7, but also won't pay out if the number hits). In addition, you can ask for these bets to be working on the come out roll which means they would lose on a 7 in phase 1. 10 minutes at a table and you would have a pretty good idea, just hard to try and figure it out when someone is making quick decisions and mixing things up pretty regularly which Bluff tends to do.

Where does it say max bet for pair plus was $10? That probably has a higher limit because there's no 1,000 : 1 payout for it.
