I just saw this for the first time and the impact it had on everyone that has watched it. Being married to a police officer for 32 years I do know what the family in blue and the family goes through. Whether they are still active or have retired, their blood will always run blue. Thank you for sharing your story with us. People need to hear what it's like for an officer, despite what rank they are. I pray for your safety and your families.

Thank You for your service, I say your service because you are selfless and you stand behind your husband day after day or night after and kiss him good bye knowing full well that it could be your last time and yet your support is strong. Your Husband is a Hero and really so are you, I say that because he leaves to save all of the people he comes in contact with and he gets the Monsters off of the streets...

This has been an amazing presentation. To be honest, I did not think I would be watching all 3 parts...much less at one sitting. Once it locked me in that was it...I had to know what happened. I am just starting pt 3...with tears rolling. The sheriff got to me at the end of pt.2. Lord knows, if I were to ever be in a life threatening of any magnitude I would hope for any 1 of these amazing guys. The love & respect you all have for one another is just so touching. Your community is truly blessed to have such amazing men trying to protect you all and one another. May God bless you all....and my prayers for all the families impacted. I hope that evil P.O.S. gets death or life w/o parole at least. You all truly are heroes.............I am now halfway through pt.3...the emotions felt by everyone talking is palpable. I just wanted to say I am praying for Mike's loved ones....the bond between him and his brother (& all his family I am sure) and all the guys is just such a testament to his character. I am just so impressed with this documentary...whoever put this together did an amazing job...I think just the honest emotions and love these guys have for one another is so great. You will all be even more bonded for life, which is a blessing .

@@pattyandersen5516I am a conservative who backs the blue and I agree that while we constantly hear about people wanting to defund the police and its made to sound like this big story that everyone wants, like most of the other stories its only a few loud mouths who incessantly scream. I don’t understand what makes people act like that. Even most of the people who scream that generally change their minds when they themselves become victims of crime. There are so many more things we probably have in common but for some reason there are people actively working to make it seem like we have zero in common with each other when that just isn’t’ the case. I also don’t have a problem calling out the few bad cops when they show they are bad but definitely back all our men and women in uniform.

(Especially holidays, weekends, and nights) While we enjoy time with our families and friends, they are protecting us for mediocre wages at best and constantly putting their lives on the line. A very meaningful, thought provoking and significant story. I doubt the Officers involved will see this but just in case: 1) Tears are cleansing, they are part of the grieving process. 2) The depth of your grief is related to the depth of your love and loss. 3) It only hurts if you truly cared about the person that passed. 4) Mike was and will always be your brother. Bloodline isn't the only criteria for someone to be family. 'Family of choice' is real. No explanation necessary. Anyone that doesn't understand can pound sand. 5) Knowing Mike enriched your lives. His quirky humor, temper, dedication, blatant honesty, etc were gifts that continue to make you smile as you muddle through your grief. (If possible I doubt he would hesitate to remind you of that reality.) 6) Mike was a treasure. His impact was strong. His unique approach to life made him extra special. His scowl was hiding a smiling, kind soul.

I also think the women behind these officers are also to be admired, because they never know if they are going to be a widow after their husband goes to work. As a South Carolinian, this brought me to tears. I have always been proud of our state and SLED, and our local LEO,
This is what people don't see or hear, I think everyone should have to watch this, so they know men & woman in uniform are not dirty. When I hear he shot me bc I am black, Mexican what ever I think of this. No cop gets up looks in a mirror and says I am going to ruin my career, go to prison, loose my family, pension, good standing in the town, screw up all the schooling and blood sweat and tears, promotions etc just to shoot someone. This shows you how united they are as a family, what they may encounter on a call. Losing a fellow brother. Let these amazing LEO voice be in your head when you wanna knock them down, degrade them, shoot at them. Yes I know bad cops are out here, but the good ones outrank the bad. show your support, bc I can say you will problem need the assistance of EMT, or LEO at some point in your life. When they ate saving you, A family member etc, are you degrading them then. Prayers to all in this video. Thank you for sharing so people see the real action.

I was shot in the femoral artery, femoral vein, the profundus femoral artery and seven other places in my body with an AK-47. Just the thought of going through the injuries again is very painful. Also, the guy in front of me was killed, the two behind me were killed and five others were wounded. I don't think most people can grasp how terrifying these types of situations are.

Sgt Gonzale’s, we all feel like you did, when things like this go wrong! There’s been many a times where I would blame God for letting bad things happen too good people. And then one day it dawned on me, there’s only two people to blame for this, one’s satan himself, and the other’s the person who did it. God never wanted this too happen, God gets blamed for everything bad, but he’s the fall guy. Just like letting his son die on the cross, he could of stopped that, but if he did, our sins would never have been forgotten, his son did it specifically that way to alleviate our sins! I’m Catholic, and we believe their are sins, and mortal sins. A mortal sin to me isn’t like a regular sin, a regular sin can be forgiven, a mortal one, can’t be. Now keep in mind, that’s what I believe, me. Yes, I’ve had Great friends die from cancer, good friends also, but me of my best gf’s was Catholic, was a Great gf, ended up killing herself. Now try to understand that, and justify that, then add in the EMS deaths, OD’s, suicides, car accidents, killings, killers, and people would never understand why we all crack from time to time! Now please keep this in mind, in the old days, before I ended up burnt out, and retired, I remember Law Enforcement always seemed to be busy on suicides and welfare checks. And in the old days, we never staged, and this anything against that. It’s time that changes us! I get being upset at God, that same gf who ended her life, well about 3 weeks prior, my 6th sense kicks in. You should ask my parents too get Karen’s telephone numbers, and check in with her. For whatever reason, I never did, regret, yep, I only wish I would of listened to that little voice in my head! We all have it, some are just more in tuned too it. I ignored it, so please don’t be angry at God, hate satan for it, or the devil for tempting Adam & Even with knowledge. Thank you all Sincerely, because we’re all the watchman on the wall, as in the days of old! And thank you all for your services, and your families, for standing strong! Sincerely, Rick K EMTP

Outstanding documentary that covers a tragic and horrifying event. The officers of the York County S.C. Sheriff's Office did an excellent job protecting the public from a deranged, intoxicated, violent offender. As a military vet it sickens me that the criminal who perpetrated these evil crimes received training in the military that allowed him to kill an officer and seriously wound 3 others. I myself served in the Marine Corps in the infantry and in part 2 of this Officer Cunningham spoke of how the perpetrator set up a textbook ambush to put a large amount of officers into the kill zone all at once. The military ( and law enforcement ) teaches you the most effective way to get out of an ambush is to shoot your way out of it and these officers had to put a massive volume of rounds down range ( at the suspect under the porch ) to escape the kill zone which they successfully did. Make sure to thank police officers for what they do and that the general public takes for granted. These are the men that run directly at the gunfire when everyone else runs away. We just recently saw this happen again at the bank in Louisville Kentucky with the mass shooter. The first 2 cops on the scene didn't wait for back up. They ran directly into the gunfight and the one rookie officer ( less then a week on the job ) was shot in the head by the criminal and the other officer was able to fire his weapon which killed that perpetrator and he saved countless lives of people still inside that bank building that the shooter had not yet found to add to the list of victims. Being a cop is a thankless job and these people put their lives on the line every day to protect the communities they serve. And you have idiots on TH-cam and in the media that try to spin the stories to make the bad guys look like victims. It's sickening.

As a retired LEO myself, I was saddened to watch all three parts of this excellent presentation, especially for the loss of the officer who gave the last full measure of devotion and laid down his life for his brothers. But then I read all of the comments, and felt good that unlike most TH-cam comments sections, every comment here seemed to be sympathetic and respectful.
That was true until I got to the very last comment at the bottom of the page. There, some idiot decided to write a comment about how police are not our friends, and complaining about traffic tickets. Anyone who would use a memorial to a brave officer's death to make this sort of statement is beyond despicable. TH-cam won't let me say to this guy what I want to say. I can only hope that after everyone has paid their respects to Lt. Doty, they will scroll down and let RamBowMike know what a piece of subhuman scum he is.

This is the most difficult to watch documentary I've ever watched. The emotions, the tears, it's all just to much to deal with but I watched all 3 of the videos. I have a brother who was a police officer and was seriously injured on the job. He was never able to recover enough to return to the police force. The job of a police officer is for the most part a thankless job but they do it day after day. We owe a debt to these men and women who put their lives on the line every day that we'll never be able to repay. My heart goes out to the family, friends and co workers of a fallen hero, Mike Doty. as well as to the others who ran headlong into danger with him. You are all heroes. If you find yourselves in tough situations just think back and ask yourselves "What would Mike have done in this situation" and then follow your hearts. Mike will be leading it.
A huge Thank You to the York County Sheriff's Department for making these videos. You honour all officers who have given it their all and especially Mike. He'll always be remembered so long as this series is around and most likely long after it's gone. I know I'll never forget.

Thank You🙏 In my study’s of human behavior one thing that I can say to help those who lost loved ones due to some horrific event is that he didn’t suffer, his family and friends with many fond memories is what the officer experienced, no pain but floating with beautiful colors, feeling of warmth enveloped in the love of others, with chaos all around except in his mind. The things you hear about seeing bright lights, experiences that stand out with fond memories, The brains ability to assist with death is remarkable, no one really wants to die. When the elderly who say, I’m ready don’t be sad for me because I’m not, truly feels that way. Glorious memories wash over you, the brain knows when you’re going to die and brings everything that meant the most back, with a comfortable feeling and colors that people who were in near death experiences see. You’re are born and as you age your brain is preparing you for the inevitable death. A lady was grieving because her daughter died quickly from a diabetic stroke, the mother suffered because she couldn’t be there, that she had to die alone, I can say that not only was she there but everyone the daughter loved was there, she did not suffer, knowing that helped her mom grieve. The officer sacrificed his life so that others could live, don’t let that be in vain.

Excellent video.. Why was this killer allowed to live by this judge and jury ? He will live out his life behind bars, which some would say, is punishment enough. Living a life is better than no life , to him means a lot ! How heinous a crime must a killer commit in order to get the death penalty in this country ??????????????

This event is so damn sad and tragic and infuriating at the same time. I just found that I’m getting emotional, and it’s happening because I’m watching these big, strong and tough SOBs who know two dozen different ways to permanently modify your behavior, getting choked up with quivering lips and cracking voices, trying their damndest to maintain their composure. Good ‘ol boys like this aren’t prone to shedding a tear unless it’s something extraordinary enough to wrestle the tears out of them. Seeing these alpha males struggling so hard to not break down is getting me choked up too. These guys will step in between you and the bad guy to save your life, even if it costs them their own. Or what’s probably even worse for them, they might have to watch their buddy’s life slip away because of that bad guy. It’s hitting me just how profound those words really are. Damn.😶

They locked the wing down from regular families? I wouldve been extremely upset if my loved one was deprived of visitors because of law enforcement 'locking down to whole unit'.... i understand their concerns but they can screen visitors. LEO are not more important than 'us'.
