- Changing the guard Windsor on Thursday 28th March 2024 This video features 1st Battalion Welsh guards both old and new guard with musical support from the Band of the Household Cavalry. The march up was dry and forecasted to rain.. then what happened! However the band fully marched back.. so I was drenched!
Well done to all those that were also filming today’s Windsor mount in that dreadful weather!
Thanks for watching and please subscribe!

Thanks very much for the video, AFV! It's superb despite the worsening weather and, as always, it's wonderful and also educating to see and hear the "inner workings" of the band and instruments and how they fit together to create the music we enjoy. Let's hope for some better, or at least, "less bad", weather for next time.
Fantastic video as usual mate! Well done not only to the Band But, to You for braving the awful weather on the return!! A rare sight to see Bands march in such awful weather!
The marches played were,
1) 0:29-Arromanches
2) 3:50-Arnhem
(Return to Barracks)
3) 6:44-Bond of Friendship
4) 9:15-Glorious Victory
5) 11:03-Eagle Squadron
6) 12:26-The Rising of the Lark
Always confused arromanches with arnhem, now I'm even more confused haha
Thank you Delvin, nice to see the Cavalry 😊
Thanks delvin! What a lovely day it started off to be 😂
That then changed… 😬
Hi@@ginkiat7268 , there's a lot in common between them. Same composer (Kelly), same first 2 letters ("Ar"), both are names of places, and both start in a minor key. Just have to listen to them more!
Love me a bit of bass trombone. Oh yes.😊 Those pedal notes. More please 😊
Wonderful video, it was very rainy indeed! Quite surprised to see the woodwinds playing despite the rain though
As a percussionist I love the sound of a propper or a 2part skin on a Bass drum . Gives a clear resounding thud! over the plastic heads some use.
Splendid! The clarity of both the sight and the sound is excellent. Some great closeups give us the sounds of each component instrument as they pass and it’s fascinating. I also noticed the different positioning of the helmet straps. In that the majority of the Lifeguards bandsmen position it so that it is above the instrument whereas the majority of the Blues and Royals position it below the instrument(as do the bands that wear bearskins). Anyone know why?
Many thanks for braving the foul weather to bring us this video 👍
It dates back hundreds of years, all to do with the strike of a sword on the helmet/bearskin from an enemy and the effect it has on the fella wearing it.
@michaelweavers8482 Thanks for your reply, and I understand it. The bit I'm puzzled about is the fact that the majority of the Life Guards shown place their musical instrument in their mouths below the strap whereas the majority of the Blues and Royals place their musical instrument in their mouth above the strap. 🤔
As it is so often the case with traditions, sometimes one does not really know anymore where they originated from. The Blues and Royals wear the chains under the chin and the Life Guards just below their lower lip. That's why the chin straps are just a bit longer on the Blues and Royals helmets. Therefore the mouth pieces of the instruments don't fit above the chains for the Life Guards.
Do the HCav bands wear shoes ir the long boots ..I see they have spurs...they make no foot sounds when marching..often wonder if they have tunics under their cloaks or a nice warm army pullover..
Ditto the boxmen at Horseguards. Great video..love windsor.
They wear leather riding boots, I believe they call them Wellingtons or Wellies, they are not the large long boot worn whilst mounted.
So nice to see positive comments ,unlike the comments about horse guards parade, thankyou everyone. X
Oh wow! how rare not to wet mount! I guess they thought if they were gonna have to wring themselves out anyway, they might as well play. I imagine those instruments are quite uncomfortable to play with drizzle running down the upper lip. Hope the drums and clarinet are ok. ....hope the camera is OK too! thanks for getting wet for us.
Thanks for the nice video, greeting from Holland....the Dutch Marching Band channel: muziekkorpsen - streetparades🎼🎵🎶
Thank you very much! Your content is amazing! Thank you.

I don't know if I should ask this question but what happened to Charliearmyvidoes. I miss seeing his guards video from 2022.
You know, I've asked myself the same question! The Channel disappeared! Only his Instagram is still active!
I know that Charliearmyvideos does more photography than video content now.. I think still does videos I’m not sure!
