Bravo to the both of you for being empathetic enough to understand, early on, Arthur's state of mind. Too few people tend to realize that every expression of emotion in him is done through laughter, so it constantly calls into question what Arthur is truly feeling when we see him laugh. But, Joaquin's Oscar worthy acting lets us know... if you watch closely. This is one of a handful of movies I can't watch without crying. Brilliant.
This is a literary device called "unreliable narrator". Since we see everything from Arthur's point of view and Arthur hallucinates, we can't really know what's real and what's not.
Uhhh they clearly didn't care about making money with the direction they took. My feeling is that WB basically forced Todd Phillips to make a sequel and he said "Fine" and went the route he did as a "fuck you" to them.
This movie is really good, i watched it last year for first time Its uncomfortably good, and we can just pretend this is a stand alone movie, no sequel exists
What’s so amazing about a socially awkward mentally ill guy shooting someone in the face because they made light of their horrible stand up routine. And he straight up murders his mother. Yeah screw that Arthur guy.
Yes, you WILL suffocate inside a fridge. That's why you knock the door off if you're pitching one out. Kids will play inside it and get trapped when it falls over door-side down.
Not really the best part but the only enjoyable aspect in my opinion. Or well maybe you can make an argument that some of the musical numbers featuring Joker and Harley are great, but in my opinion only the courtroom musical scene is good.
But there wasn't any fourth wall breaking or corny jokes every 30 seconds! /s I agree, Folie a Deux is a well made movie and definitely not conventional by any means. I can understand it being a hard pill to swallow.
Its objectively bad, Arthur ended on the first movie turning into the joker persona, the second movie undid all of that just because of political reasons
Joker 2 shouldn't have been a sequel to Joker, it would have been a lot better if it didn't rely so much on the exposure of Joker and was its own thing entirely. The first half of the movie is pretty solid, and I actually really enjoyed most of the musical scenes, but the second half is all over the place and feels like a waste of time.
"At least he's on tv", bro, think about it for a sec, you were made fun of by your "role model, your hero", Murray, after your whole life/world is crashing down, do you think he'd be "happy" about being on tv?
Almost every reactor seems to completely fail to notice that Arthur isn't the least bit excited when he's being invited on the show. As tenuous as his grip on reality was, he knew all along that he was only being invited on the show to be mocked and humiliated.

There's never a high point OR a low point for any of the characters. The script is trash. The musical numbers are distracting and not good. Joaquín deserved BETTER.
@@VotingBlue2024 Joaquin co wrote the script... and the movie was awesome but you can continue following the NPCs shitting on it because there was no Batman
@@lunarlad8075 I don't give a f about whether or not there is a Batman. Where are you getting these assumptions? Taxi Driver is good, but I don't think it's better than Joker. Arthur Fleck is much more sympathetic, which makes Joker a much more heart-wrenching, impactful story.
Loved this movie, but this is a unique look at Joker's story. This isn't his back story from any comic books, though. I think of it as a elseworld or alternate universe version of Joker. It's not at all like the mainline DC storyline.

I think the best part of Joker 2 is probably Joaquin Phoenix's performance.

I'm enjoying this reaction so far. Joker 2 sounds like my unprofessional self-diagnosis. Arthur Fleck went all 'Split' (2016) on us.
Joker 2 is great!! It picks up after this in court for the murders. You’ll love it and see how it ends will break your heart.
It’s a musical, but it makes sense cause he crazy and it’s in his head.
Well done, guys.
Joker 2 is solid. Remember this is Arthur’s story, he was never gonna be “the joker” joker is more of a symbol/ movement in this alternate story
It's worth a watch and definitely not as bad as people are making it out to be.
