I was really hoping they would wrap it up in the 3rd movie, I thought it was perfectly set up to do so but I guess I don't mind a 4th one as long as its the final one. I don't want this franchise to be one of the ones that gets progressively worse because they overstay their welcome by making too many movies.

That's because in a horror movie you expect blood and gore. But you don't expect someone to write their name or anything in fecal matter. So that caches you off guard.
It always bugs me when people get mad at a horror movie for having "dumb" characters. Yes, sometimes it strains credulity but you have to remember: 1) These characters don't know they're in a horror movie. If they did, that'd be a 4th wall breaking comedy. 2) As far as finishing off the killer goes, it's easy to say that, and totally another thing to do it. Most people would have a really hard time actually killing another person, no matter what they did. There's a reason soldiers get PTSD. I personally think Tara and Vicky did pretty good considering their circumstances. Tara was beating the unholy shit out of Art, clearly wanting it to last to make him suffer for what he did to Dawn. She was actually doing exactly what y'all were shouting for her to do anyway. And she still died, because how was she supposed to know he had a concealed gun? So people get mad at her either way. It's stupid. 3) These characters aren't omniscient ffs. They don't know where they'll be safe or where Art can find them. They don't know that door in an unfamilair building is locked. They don't know the guy in a creepy costume ON HALLOWEEN is an actual killer. Like, yes, Vicky is walking around a creepy building in the middle of the night and that's not ideal but she's looking for her sister, who she's been in contact with, including texts from someone she has no reason to believe ISN'T Dawn. What is she gonna do? Leave after already driving all the way out there bc it's spooky? That would mean leaving her sister there in that same spooky place. You KNOW you wouldn't do that. 4) And lastly, I challenge anyone to make split second, clear headed, rational, survivalist type decisions when you are an untrained, probably still a little tipsy, regular schlub who just saw their friend get sawed in half. I don't know, the "people in horror movies are dumb" thing I disagree with like 70% of the time. Most of the time it's more like we are following people who didn't read the script. I know it's frustrating but it rarely bothers me at all because usually it just seems fairly realistic because people are funny like that.
Art is absolutely already a horror icon and the final girl that is introduced in two is already a favorite among horror enthusiasts. I would absolutely watch two and three because in retrospect they make each movie before them better and it's one of the few horror franchises that has built upon expanded and made the franchise better with each movie. Even people who had a rough time getting through the films are excited for four.
“You’re Next” (2011) has one of the smartest final girls ever. If I find myself in a horror situation, I’m calling her. Fans agree, across the board, she’s one of the best.

Just found you guys! Love how you react to the gruesomeness of this first installment of the franchise! This one was intentionally patterned after 80s style slashers in grindhouse style. At the very end Art is actually dead, but is resurrected by an evil entity (The flashing lights). It is the start of the Terrifier lore. Terrifier 2 has a much larger budget, so there is better acting and a real storyline with likeable characters. Hope that you react to that one!
I loved the OG short film, and this flick that spawned from it.. but if you'd told me back then that the "Terrifier" series would be where it is now in 2024.. I'd have thought you were fuckin nuts. I will maintain that the funniest (and coolest, kinda) thing about this whole circus is that a man as lovely, and just downright nice, as David Thornton wound up being the man behind the biggest icon in horror since the OG's like Jason, Freddy, Michael, etc.

Art would literally be the worst slasher to be attacked by. He has that “Asmodeus” vibes. As though he could keep one alive to torture all the more if one is showing torment. At least Jason, Michael, or Chucky kill one quickly. Only Freddy and Art torture a person with joy. I still say Art is worse than Freddy, due to the power of our dreams. There is none of that with Art.
That an the others basically stop after your dead. Art on the other hand continues to have fun with your corps. Sure the others may poss them or place them somewhere. But Art continues to cut your body up just for fun just to do it.

Art the Clown is presented as a stage performer and their audience is Satan (they watch in the devil's realm) and they ask the performer to do brutal things, sometimes the audience sends supernatural spirits so that the performer can still play (alive)
