    I have a different model Janome, and it doesn't do the lockstitch when you stop with the same stitch pattern. You wouldn't want it to do that if you are stopping to pivot or in the middle of a seam. There is a button over the start stop button that does it with one touch. It also has the same non-functional storage box. As far as I'm concerned, that's why cookies come in tins.

    Thank you for the video. Even experienced sewers make threading mistakes once in a while. It’s good to see threading mistakes corrected. I have always been told to wind the bobbin at half speed when using polyester thread because polyester thread stretches. Maybe that is the reason Janome has a slower bobbin speed.

  • @cindybenjamin9607
    @cindybenjamin9607 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Hi! You shouldn’t see bobbin thread on a zigzag stitch. Need to reduce spool tension. Only a little bit of spool thread should be seen on the bottom side of fabric. 😊

    I own a Singer 201-2, 500a, Kenmore 158-1941, 158-1802, and 158-1430, all except the 500a can drop the feed dogs. The 500a raises the needle plate. I rarely use it. All the automatic features and electronics built in are going to fail within a decade. For my money, you can't beat a Kenmore free arm machine built before the late 70s. All metal, built like tanks, smooth, POWERFUL, durable and strong piercing power. My 158-1941 is 44 years old and does just about anything I ask of it. Anyone serious about sewing should consider buying vintage. I hope you sell them in your shop. Stay well 🙏

    Thanks! I had considered buying this machine for a small travel machine. As for the feed dogs...many people drop them to free motion quilt on their regular machines, as I used to do before getting a longarm, and others will drop them to do thread painting working or in hoop work.

    First off thank you a ton for making these videos! I haven't been sewing that long, my husband taught me how to sew. Yes my husband taught me. I use mine to make small quilts right now but will be making bigger ones pretty soon. I have a Brother ce1100prw. The one my husband taught me on, is his from High school, I'm not sure what brand it is. Anyway, he got me the brother prw as a gift. Until recently I had only used it once maybe twice when I got it. Just got to be able to use it again about a few weeks ago. I plan on dropping the feed dogs to slow motion quilt. My brother has a storage like this one in the video but it came with a small pouch. I just use a pencil box for my stuff instead of the storage. I don't like the clumsiness of the storage myself. I've had a few "battles" with mine in the last couple of days. I have looked at other sewing machines for when this one goes. BTW, love your "commercial" for your seam ripper, cracked me up!

    Hi lots of people free motion quit, and free motion embroidery . My machine is used mostly for patchwork and free motion quilting. I have Janome 9450, which has replaced Brother Innovis 1100. I have to say the Janome is an amazing machine, I also have singer 201, which I drop feed dogs on too. Hope that helps.

Have already cleaned the bobbin area several times. Have a Singer Heavy Duty which I nearly wore out in just a few years. I have an older Singer Merritt too. I like all my machines for various reasons. Thank you for your videos!

    Viewing a few minutes in I felt that he was very rough in handling the items that were in the box; then I noticed that he probably didn't know how to sew with this machine (if he reads the instructions he will be surprised how good this machine function is). He also fiddled back n forward with the tension dial, maybe not using proper needle for that fabric (not cotton), etc. But then, as the titled shows, he did make big mistakes here and he was very honest about it! I enjoy your videos, by the way.

    I bought two of that model brand new and both went back. They are good machines but I liked some important features Brother machines offered a lot more. Plus I didn't like the stitch chart and they have NO vertical spool pin. There are only three buttons to control the important functions stitch selection and stitch length and width. That's a bit cheap. The machine does not know you are done stitching unless you hit the reverse button. It will not lock the stitches every time the motor stops.

    No one sews with two different color threads. ,,Janome machines,,always works,,from the box. First you failed to cut off the extra thread when you wind the bobbin. You are not Demonstrates the machine properly,,,you have to press the reverse button to get back stitch,,, you would never make a good salesperson,,never.
