I really appreciated you explaining the start stop button in the way I would be willing to give it a try. There is more control than I thought, and I am so used to my pedal, I haven't tried to use the start stop button for fear that I don't have that much control, but your demonstration gave me courage to now try it myself
NOW I totally understand the markings on the Needle Plate! No one has explained the markings except for you. Excellent! Thank you. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of your videos!
As a brand new sewist, I bought the 5060 based on your great demo. Loved this video - especially the part about the plate markings. Possibly something everyone knows but I can now turn out a perfect square. Thank you so much for this, you really have helped me at the start of my sewing journey.
Honestly...I learn so much with every one of these videos. I've had my Skyline S9 for over 2 years...and didn't know about a lot of these basic functions! For instance...didn't know about those little line markings at the beginning of my stitch plate. Really??? I've been using the line towards the back of the plate that says "5/8"" mark for my seam markings. It can sometimes be tricky to see. Thanks so much! And my goodness...the "reverse" button functions?? Never, ever knew that it has 3 different functions. Again...thanks. Well...You just keep going. Don't care what you teach... I learn! Lol
my mom got me an old janome sewing machine (equle t400) so i have something to do in quarantine!!! it didn't come with a booklet so I'm kinda learning it online and this is one of the most helpful tutorials I've watched!!!!! even if this version is super advanced, it helped me understand the basic features such as the auto lock key. I kept trying to figure out what that button does hahah. Thank you so so much! Regards.
Every day that I use my 9000 or 9700 Janome I say I love this machine. It just feels like I'm home again. There is no machine that sounds like a Janome.
What a surprise when you popped up on the screen Ann. I wasn't paying attention to anything other than some info on the Janome. I learned a few things that after all these years, I had never known!
Great video Ann. I am replacing my old Pfaff with the Janome 5300 and can't wait to get it - in two weeks. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Just received this machine by surprise for Christmas. Love your functions videos and appreciate the clear information given. I can not wait to practice!
I have always used a Janome sewing machine. I have been looking at the S9 as I want to 'computerize' and be able to embroider and quilt, too. My 25 year old Janome doesn't have the 'bells and whistles' but it has the most beautiful straight stitch of any machines I've ever used. Your videos are really informative and I'm learning a lot about the newer machines.
Wow, so simple but so effective. I have a S7 and read instructions but still feel over whelmed. You made it easy to grasp. Wish we had instructors like you here in Michigan.
Thank you. I am very happy to learn about the other functions of the reverse button . I would like to know more about the different feet and how to use it on my 5100
Oh man! I’ve been missing out on so much! It’s just very hard to *see* the markings on the plate to use them. I’m going to try to color them somehow to make it easier. THANKS❣️
Enjoyed watching the last one to two minutes. If I had money to splurge I would get a Janome and a circular attachment but since I can't splurge I bought the affordable Singer HD6800C with the tie-off, cut-off, up-down buttons as a must have and that Singer will sew thick denim for hemming. I also know that some Brother machines have those circular attachments but smaller circles on some of their affordable models.
Ann, have you thought of doing a full tutorial on the 5300? It’s so new, that there seems to be very limited information on this machine on You Tube. Thx!
Thank you for your demonstration. It is amazing what this line of machines has to offer, this seems so user friendly. I would like to enter your drawing also, though it may already be done. Thank you
If you mean the 3160, on page 43 of the manual, it indicates how to clean and mentions the machine does not require oiling. The machine has self lubricating parts. However, a drop of oil on the wick under the bobbin case and as illustrated in Rick's machine maintenance video will keep it running smooth and quiet. → th-cam.com/video/2Z3a6Ex0mjY/w-d-xo.html
I have been looking at various sewing machines.. your video is helpful, thank you; Janome sounds great.. I bought a used White 3100, and lol it's buttons must have had wires crossed by previous owner.. and it sews way too fast.. Funny hahaha but not fun to experience lol
Thank you for this tutorial, I have the MC8200QCP, which I love and is very similar in set up to the S6 so this was very handy, especially the reverse button. My machine doesn’t have the continuous reverse function, which, after seeing your tutorial, I’m a bit sorry about... but I guess I can just hold the reverse button and get the same effect. I also enjoyed your instructions on how to use the needle plate markings to get consistent seam widths and corners. Very well explained, have now subscribed.
Can you please do a video for how to use the needle threader on this type of machine? I have the 5300qdc which appears to have the same needle threader and I’ve never been able to get the threader to work. Most videos out there seem to only show how to use the manual threader
I will see about doing a separate video on the needle threaders. Make sure you always start by pressing the needle down/up button so that the needle is in the correct position for the needle threader. Also, lower the presser foot when using the needle threader to put tension on the thread.
I have a Janome DC6050 and I wanted to use my twin needle on it. I've used it before but not for quite a while. I had pinned a note on the machine's cover to remind me to press the twin needle button. Well, goodness knows where that is! On the little screen, at the very top things light up when you press the appropriate button, like the foot control and the scissors etc. and there are 2 needles together to indicate a twin needle but no button. I've gone through the book twice with no luck in finding it. Can you assist me with this please? Lesley.
I don't think the DC6050 has a twin needle button. Just make sure the stitch width plus the width of your twin needle does not exceed 7mm. eg. With a 3mm twin needle the width of a selected stitch should be less than 4mm.
I have a Janome HC8100. I do alterations, mainly shortening of trousers, jeans etc. Please can you advise me on what SETTINGS would be ideal for finishing off the bottom of jeans using denim thread , using the same colour as factory for eg. Orange, yellow, gold). My stitches must be 4.0 long. Many thanks Gail
Having difficulty with my Janome Mod 100Q tension. It's threaded correctly and I've tried all tensions 0 - 9. I've tried adjusting bobbin tension with the feed balancing dial and a new needle. It is pulling the top thread through to the bottom on my zigzag stitch along one side of the zig but not on the zag if that makes sense. It is pulling so tight that it bunches the fabric inside of the zig zag ending with the fabric rolled inside of the stitch. It doesn't matter what tension number I'm set on, I get the same result. I can't find anyone anywhere that has posted this particular issue. Everyone just covers basic tension adjustments.
I got a little confused on the use of the plate. Have not seen another video on that. More detailed explanation would be awesome. Where is link to add email address?
Question-regarding the up down button. If pushing it down, when sewing a seam for example, will the needle end in down position each time and if push it up to always end needle up no matter how much you sew sew?
Lori, It depends on the model. On the S7 that I demonstrated (and other models with a SET key), in the SET key you can choose which position you want the needle to stop-up or down. The 4120 and 5300 default to stopping in the down position. The 3160 and 7330 default to stopping in the up position. If you start with the needle down, they will stop needle down.
I really appreciated you explaining the start stop button in the way I would be willing to give it a try. There is more control than I thought, and I am so used to my pedal, I haven't tried to use the start stop button for fear that I don't have that much control, but your demonstration gave me courage to now try it myself
I'm glad you feel more confident using the start/stop button now. Thanks for watching
The more I learn about my machine, the more I find out what my machine will do--everything but make coffee in the morning! Great info. Thanks Ann.
NOW I totally understand the markings on the Needle Plate! No one has explained the markings except for you. Excellent! Thank you. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of your videos!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching
I have a Janome S7 and have been watching tutorials and learning so much more than I already knew. I've had my machine for 4 years.
I don’t know how you remember all of the different things the machines can do. Amazing. Miss seeing you all.

I have 3 Janome machine 12000 and Skyline S9 and 1400 I love them all. Enjoy your demonstrations. Seems I learn something new every time I watch.

Glad to help. Did you subscribe?

I enjoyed your instructional video. Everything was easily understood. The great thing about the video is I can watch it over and over.
Thanks, Ann, for the great little tutorial. I did not know about the 3 uses of the reverse key. I knew of 2 of them before. This was really helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
This is so helpful! The demonstrations are very clear and have more info than the booklet. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

Love these basics. I always learn something new. Thanks Ann
This was such a helpful video, thank you. I got an Atelier 3 this week and this clearly explained a lot of its functions.
Thank you! I forget how many functions my 7330 has for me to use. A refresher review is so helpful!
Love the videos can’t wait to try out my machine tomorrow with all the new stitches and programs

Thank you for the tutorial.
Will be looking for more.
Just received my new Jenome machine today. Your videos are so helpful. Thank you!
Glad you find them helpful
Thank you I have memory craft 8200 QCP and love it however I wasn’t able to take any classes due to distance. So I enjoyed this.
Excellent tutorial. I finally learned how to use the auto lock stitch. Thank you...!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Oh the things I just learned! Thank you Ann!
Hi there I am grateful for taking me through on how to use my janome machine
You are so welcome!
Such a simple video but so very loaded full of great info, thank you🙂
Great instructions. My Janome 3160 QDC is new and I'm still learning. What is the difference between a back stitch and a locking stitch
Hi there! A backstitch sews 4 stitches backward, then 4 stitches forward. A lockstitch sews 6 stitches in place.
Thank you. Hope to see more videos from you. Learning auto sewing here.
This was very helpful to see the features.
Love my Skyline! Now I know more about the basic functions buttons. Thanks!
Happy to help!
Thank you. I am very happy to learn about the other functions of the reverse button . I would like to know more about the different feet and how to use it on my 5100

That was a great demonstration. Can you please give us more demonstration on the skyline sewing machines
Yes, more on the Skylines. I have the S9 and still have problems copying designs onto to embroider out.

I learned something today!!
Amazing great info. Thank you so much
Very helpful video. I have a Janome 360. The manual does not refer to oiling. Do I have to oil my machine? Thank you.

Hi there. I recently inherited a Janome MC 9000. I have never used an electronic sewing machine...ever! Do you have any videos for this?

I purchased a M7200 earlier this year, but haven’t a clue how to use it. Do you have a video for this machine? Thank you.

Oops I mean the S series
Wow I would love a Janome.
Thanks for your help
Happy to help
