  • After a bit of a hiatus we are back with another Thread Talk! This time around we are talking about one of our most beloved threads, DecoBob™! DecoBob™ is an 80wt, 2-ply cottonized polyester thread. This incredible thread carries a textured matte finish, and has been treated to behave more like cotton, eliminating stretch. DecoBob™ is delicate, but incredibly strong making it a great choice for quilting, precision piecing, stitch-in-the-ditch, use in the bobbin, and more. It is an ideal bobbin thread and is available in prewound bobbins in size M, size L, or class 15!
    Join us as we chat about DecoBob™, it’s uses, and some extra tips and tricks for sewing with this lightweight thread! A great opportunity to get Threaducated, and learn something new about this outstanding thread.

    Fantastic info, ladies, thank you! I have used Decobob and a few of your other threads after attending various workshops at different quilt symposiums here in NZ - am now the owner of a longarmer, and will definitely be a regular customer on your NZ website. Have a great 2024!

    I use DecoBob all the time, especially for Foundation Paper Piecing. The thread is so thin AND strong and when you crank down the stitch length, it’s a dream when ripping out the paper - the stitches don’t come loose. I also use it in my bobbin for regular piecing…which is great for every day piecing because you can load up the bobbin and it seems to last forever. I like the beige or silver color thread…it blends into everything 4:41

      That is great! We are so glad you enjoy using the thread so much. the silver is one of our most popular colours, so versatile 🙂

    I have loved using DecoBob to piece my quilts. It does a great job doing that. Had always used 50wt but now I will always use DecoBob I think as long as I don’t need full cotton.

      That's great! Sometimes it so pays off to try a new thread for something, we always love experimenting with different threads in ways we haven't used them before yet

      I’ve used 50 wt thread for piecing my quilts for 30 years, and recently started using decobob and invisifil to piece. No more bulky seams!

    I purchased several decobob threads at the Long Beach quilt show. Both Betty and Barney were amazing reps and so knowledgeable. I use decobob for both piecing and foundation paper piecing. I love it!

    I wish you’d make a Bobbinator for the M series size bobbin. I’d love to finish out bobbins from my longarm on my sewing machine.

    Did I see you at the Quilt- en Patchwork days in Rijswijk, the Netherlands, some years ago? If so, I was super impressed with your booth, all the threads you had, your knowledge, I learned a lot 🙂. Love DecoBob

    Hello! I'm going to use the decobob prewound bobbin in my Janome longarm. Is there a "tension range" for the bobbin (ie 180-200) I should be looking for when setting my bobbin tension? I'll be using Wonderfil Masterquilter as my top thread. Very informative video! Thanks so much!

    What threads do you recommend for sergers and how best to use them? Just got a serger and want to use some heavier threads just not sure which ones.

      For heavier threads dazzle is a great choice as it is an 8wt! So very thick, and will really stand out with its shiny finish

    Can the the Deco Bob prewound bobbins work in a Bernina Q24 long arm machine?

    What weight and type would you recommend for sewing knits?

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  ปีที่แล้ว

      We would recommend Designer for knits! It is a all purpose polyester thread. It has more stretch to it, so works great for seams and is very durable. If you are serging on knits you can also use SoftLoc, which has more stretch but cannot be used in standard sewing just serging!

    You said this isn’t affected by heat so can this go in the microwave or be used for potholders or microwave bowel cozies? Things that all cotton is normal used.
