    • @TheChadWork2001
      @TheChadWork2001 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@michaellooney1089 2 seconds per month isn't rubbish if you compare it to the average mechanical watch. Most of them gain 8-10 per day. A Rolex superlative chronometer is +/- 1-2 per day.
      If you want better than 2 seconds per month you can get any decent GShock that will adjust itself several times a day, or you can try the Grand Seiko SBGV243 or The Citizen caliber 0100.

    I highly recommend this watch. I've been wearing it for a year now, and I keep it on my wrist for about 22 hours a day because it is incredibly light and comfortable. I only need to sync the watch every 5 or 6 months, which is mostly just because I enjoy watching the hands spin around. The accuracy is also impressive, with only a deviation of 0-1 second per month.
    In terms of durability, this watch is incredibly tough. I've been involved in multiple motorcycle accidents and the watch has taken many hard hits, but it always ended up with a few scratches! I'm convinced that this watch might actually outlast me 😅

      "Sync the watch - it will show the time in Japan, because from the factory it's set to the Japanese time zone.

      "After that initial sync and timezone change, any other time you can just sync the watch, you don't have to change the timezone again, it stays in whatever timezone you set it to.

    I own this watch. The only thing missing that would make it the perfect daily driver is drilled lugs (and also stronger lume). The radio control is only for within Japan, but you can radio sync via an emulator app (JJY). Takes about 2 min. Accuracy has been absolutely on point.

    • @ivermec-tin666
      @ivermec-tin666 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      JJY Emulator app on my android phone works the charm on my radio controlled casio gshock (no reliable signal in my home). I plug my headphones into my phone and place the watch inside the ear cup of the headphone. The only catch is that the watch must be set to the Tokyo time zone for the synchronization to work on the Casio. After synchronization, then I reset to my local time zone.
      As I understand it the JJY emulator was created as a work around after a major earthquake in Japan many years ago. Unfortunately, it has never been developed to take time zones into account, because it was built for an immediate need in Japan. I really wish Casio would wrap their arms around this, and develop an app in house... It is a simple proceedure to execute, and with the level of accuracy of these quartz movements doesn't need to be done more than once a year, practically.
      This is one beautiful watch.

    Correct, it does work only with the Japanese towers. There is an app available through the Apple and Google Stores that produce radio waves that will cause the watch to automatically set the time. You just don't have the convenience of it being automatic in the sense that the watch searches for the signal at certain times during the day. Besides the green and black dials, there is a blue dial with a red seconds hand (which I have en-route as of this post). I had no problems finding these watches in the $335-450 USD range.

      I own one of these watches. The atomic doesn't matter, they are VERY easy to set. You just pull the Crown right out, and the seconds hand will automatically go to the '12' position. Then, when setting it by the correct time (which is easy to find), just wait for correct time to reach the '12' position, and push the Crown back in, it's that easy! If the minute hand is pointing to the wrong minute, just twist the Crown the correct direction, and it'll adjust by one minute at a time. My watch only gains 2 seconds per Month.

    I own one of these SUPERB watches! I was lucky enough to buy mine from a dealer in Lancashire, England - for £294 including postage. Some comments: who cares if it's 39mm or 40mm? SERIOUSLY?? The sizes make absolutely NO difference! Yes, there is the Green dial (2951), and a Blue dial which I think has a Red seconds hand, but its number is quite different, think there's a 6080 in it. The Micro Adjust on the bracelet is a brilliant idea! Although the 'Radio Controlled' only works in Japan, the watch is VERY easy to set manually. Your watches serial number appears to begin with '921', whereas mine is '861'. Finally, if you notice with your other watch (Sinn 104?), the background colour in the day/date window is black - in the 2952 it's white - have a look at how much clearer the Red Sunday is on the 2952! By the way, I like your Seiko digital clock in the background.

      MM K, Yes, the analog display consumes more power than a purely digital display with a timeout feature. Still, this should not be an issue unless you routinely cover your watch with a dress shirt sleeve, in which case it will be deprived of access to a light source. This watch appears to have a charge display feature on the face, which is a real help. My more basic Citizen eco-drive does not have this feature, and the clue I will receive if and when the battery runs low is that the seconds hand will tick in 2 or 4 second increments instead of 1 second increments. Sorry, I don't remember the exact low battery increment; I have not yet had a low battery experience.

    Do these radio-waves work in deep valleys or on the other side of mountain ranges in relation to the transmitters? There are only a couple of transmitters per continent. But do these send signals out to a network of transmitters, or are they the only ones sending the signal?
    Too many questions I can't find the answers to about RC watches.

    Unfortunately, most (if not all) Citizen Promaster Land radio-control watches do not receive the USA time signal because they are Japan Domestic Market (JDM) only watches that are not marketed by Citizen to its' North American watch market - although there are some Citizen (non-Promaster Land) JDM radio-control watches that do receive the USA time signal.

    • @cdtroyer1

    • @michaelbarlow6610

      @@cdtroyer1 . The Citizen Mont-Bell watch is one of the few Citizen JDM radio-control watches (the Citizen Atessa ATV53-2834 watch is another) that can receive the USA time signal from WWVB. Most Citizen JDM radio-control watches only receive the 2 time signals from JJY40 (Fukushima, Japan) and JJY60 (Kyushu, Japan). A drawback to the Mont-Bell watch, despite its' beautiful look and design, is that it is very expensive.

    Siko vs Citizen

    • @ivermec-tin666
      @ivermec-tin666 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Citizen are highly regarded for their QC, and for their fit and finish. As I understand it, all of their movements are made in Japan. The eco-drive is the pinacle of Citizen's watch technology, and their great innovation. Citizen seems to be moving away from mechanical or automatic movements, unfortunately. Citizen also owns Bulova and Miyota. If Citizen were to marry their eco-drive technology with the Bulova acutron technology they would carve out a whole new segment in the world of horology... This may never happen, but one can hope.
      Seiko makes automatic movements, kinetic powered movements, and solar powered movements. Seiko owns Orient.
      Both companies make some astonishing products. Both make some very aggressively priced entry level products. We are lucky to have so many choices.
      The beauty of the Citizen eco-drive watches is that they are highly accurate and essentially maintenance free for 20 years or more. They have capacitors in them, rather than batteries. As long as they are routinely charged up, they will run for decades. But, if you stick one in a dresser drawer for a year, then you might have to have the capacitor replaced. Life is full of tradeoffs.
