I know this isnt the hardest song ever to make but - that said I'm incredibly impressed by how close to the original you were able to come and your analytical skills when it comes to dissecting these songs, insta-sub for me dude, phenomenal work, keep it up! :)
Aaaaamazing man! I've been listening to this song since 2010 and been to every show here in Texas! Loved how you made this look so simple and very creative, thanks for sharing
Loved this! Such a thorough breakdown. Took me back to 2013 when I was trying to remake my own chillwave music under the SoundCloud moniker Chants of Sun. I managed to find the original sample of italio disco washed out used and slowed it down. Such a fun genre!
Look up Gary Low’s song “I Want You” - Gary Low is an example of a short period of music when Italians gave a shot at disco back in the 80s. The genre has a distinctive fun sound
The chords are Db Major7 and Eb Major6. Check out the bass notes for the roots of the chord. You would call the note “C” a common tone because it is the major 7th of Db and the 6th or 13th of Eb. It acts as a sort of suspension on the 2nd chord which resolves down to the note Bb.
Dude you rock. I appreciate your knowledge & humor. Man I'm really hoping you can help point me in the direction of understanding how to create the dovetail technique in ableton 10 on any input, midi or recorded vocals, etc. Ive been trying to figure this out for a while now...
Hey I wanted to subscribe to your patreon to download the session for this track because I'm just starting to learn how to make music like this, but your patreon link doesn't work, is there somewhere else I can get it now? Thanks! Great video!!
Hey bro, I know this video is from almost 3 years ago, but I would greatly appreciate your response if you’re able to. First of all thank you sm for it (it has helped a lot). I’ve been trynna figure out the vocal effect you called “dovetail”. Is that volume automation? If so did you just draw it in manually? Just wanna get that vocal effect. Thanks so much man
haha, I get that a lot too lol, u can just use google translate and choose Vietnamese, then type in "Duy Nguyễn" =)) And thank you so much for the feedback, i actually struggled to make the drums pop out more.
This brings me back to 2009. I miss the “Summer of Chillwave” when I used to stay up all night and listen to Neon Indian, Toro Y Moi and Washed Out!
I also miss this. I need hugs now. PBR and American Spirits.

Hey friendo. I deleted my Patreon, because fuck Patreon. However, if you'd like to have the stems just email me ;-)
Hey man, can I still get this off you to view in Ableton? I checked your Patreon and there was nothing there 😞

The original has a broader synth, you need to double the voices
Yeah, I also left out the bongos and tamb. I didn't notice that until last night when I was proofing the vid...too late at that point.
Vocals sound dead on - how did you process them?
tons of reverb, OTT, and sidechain
6/1/2018 coffee time?
happened on twitch! you had a great track!
also, how do I correctly pronounce your name? I did a bad job :(
haha, I get that a lot too lol, u can just use google translate and choose Vietnamese, then type in "Duy Nguyễn" =)) And thank you so much for the feedback, i actually struggled to make the drums pop out more.
Glad to help! I'll have to make a video announcing that coffee time is on Twitch this week. I thought I was more clear about it.
